I Am Setsuna launches 19th July for PS4 & PC

The upcoming RPG is hitting both Europe and North America on 19th July for both PS4 (via PS Store) and PC (via Steam), Square Enix have announced.

 

Synopsis:

I Am Setsuna tells the sorrowful story of Setsuna, a young woman of incredible inner strength, and the sacrifice she must undertake to the save the people of her land. Players will be immersed in an emotional and unforgettable story of true bravery as Setsuna leaves her hometown with her bodyguards on a journey to the farthest land.

New character illustrations, revealing details of the heroine Setsuna and her bodyguard Endir, were also released. Endir, the main playable character, is a skilled mercenary whose destiny is changed upon meeting Setsuna.

I Am Setsuna offers beautiful art and game design that harken back to Japanese role-playing game classics of yesteryear, and includes various features inspired by legendary titles from the golden era of JRPGs, such as Chrono Trigger‘s memorable battle system.

Very excited about this game! I'm by no means a JRPG purist, but I do enjoy that we are seeing a return of these types of games.

Square Enix have released an E3 2016 trailer for I Am Setsuna featuring far more gameplay this time around. Additionally, the game is also up for pre-order on Steam

I read about this game not too long ago in Game Informer, if I'm not mistaken, and I was instantly intrigued because of the fact that it's an RPG that harkens back to the classics, such as Chrono Trigger!  Upon seeing these trailers, I'm even more interested in getting the game!  It looks gorgeous, and the story sounds intriguing!  It kind of reminds me of FFX because of Setsuna's journey to sacrifice herself for the world, kind of like Yuna was willing to sacrifice herself for Spira, ya know? I like the similarities!

 

If I'm able to, I'll definitely get this game!

Yeah, it looks like a great game that's fun to play!  Oh wow, so I'm not the only one who thinks the story might be similar to FFX?  Hmm, interesting! Also, something I'm curious about is what will the price be for I Am Setsuna?

The game is available for pre-order on Steam for $40/€40. Fair to say it'll more than likely be that price on PS4 too. Some aren't happy given that the game is digital-only, but I don't mind all that much. As long as the game justifies the price-tag then it's fine. Plenty of other games offer shorter campaigns for far more money, so we'll see.

No worries! I really want I Am Setsuna to be successful for Square because I'm interested to see what other classic RPGs the Tokyo RPG Factory use for future games

Yeah, it'd be great if this game received lots of recognition!  It'd show Square that people still love good old fashioned RPG's, ya know? I played Chrono Trigger, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that the game's combat system would take inspiration from the game!  Let's hope Setsuna meets success!
