The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) I read the manga up to chapter 154 (Last time I read it was february) it started off alright, some scenes were great-like Ichigo and the kid with the glasses teaming up against that batch of Hollows, Ichigo getting his ass kicked by Renji etc. But the soul society was very poorly executed in my opinion. Imagine if One Piece went from Alabasta to Enies Lobby within 2-3 episodes (2 chapters ish). There was no build up to the SS arc, due to Rukia's execution being imminent. The manga didn't give Ichigo and friends enough training to fight on par with the captains, so all the fights were worked WAY too much in their favour. They'd been saying how powerful the captains like Kenpachi were and somehow Ichigo manages to beat 3 of them (Kenpachi, Renji and that bald dude) with like a week of training and very small breaks in between? Then Byakuya magically gives him a pass and lets Yoruichi go and train him. The plot was worked WAY too much in Ichigo's favour. Kenpachi was hyped up to be a badass and somehow Ichigo manages to just scrape a win despite fighting Renji prior to that? Then the Quincy kid with the glasses (forgot his name) magically beats that captain who physically abused his own accomplice (he's a robot) by using a fricking glove? Then comes the biggest load of shit, the thing that was about to kill Rukia supposedly has the strength of what, a 1000 Zanpakutos or something more? Oh and magically Ichigo manages to stop it because now he's learned Bankai within a day or two? When practically a week or two ago he was struggling against Renji? Then the whole secret behind his power is revealed like 200-300 chapters later right? Wow, the power levels seem ridiculously unbalanced and nonsensical. Ichigo was a good character though and so was Chad. The whole style of Bleach seems so awesome and innovative and so do all the concepts but the execution is awful. It frustrates me that such a great concept was thrown out the window because of bad writing. The art in the manga is pretty good though but some of the fight scenes are unclear, especially during the first volume. Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) 3,859 Posted April 17, 2016 I'm sorry to say that the Soul Society arc was by far the best in the series, if you didn't like it, forget about Bleach. Now, I'll try to give you a short comment for each of your paragraphs, let's compare our opinions Unfortunately, I don't really remember much anything before the Soul Society arc, so I can't say much there, but yeah, Renji's victory was amazing! I watched the anime, so I don't know how it was done in the manga, but at least to me you could see how much effort Ichigo and the rest put into their training. And to be honest, I don't remember it being short. You had the start of the training, later on Ichigo is able to use his Shikai, after that he had to domain his Getsuga Tensho and somewhere during the training he even became a hollow for some time, so yeah, I think it was longer than that, but it's been a while since I last watched it. Ikkaku (bald one) was never meant to be stronger than Ichigo, so I don't see why he wouldn't be able to be beaten. Renji's fight was awesome, I can't complain there. Now, although Kenpachi's fight is one of the best ones up to now, it is true that Ichigo shouldn't have won, but, well, we could say the same about Luffy and Crocodile, it's just manga. Also, you can see later on how Kenpachi really is stronger than Ichigo but actually lost because he underestimated him. I can't remember Byakuya letting Ichigo go, as far as I'm aware, Yoruichi had to go to save him, and Yoruichi is known as the goddess of speed, so Byakuya just wasn't fast enough to stop her. Uryu Ishida (bow and arrow nerd) fought Mayuri Korutsuchi, and even though he used his "glove", he wasn't able to beat him (although he made a massive hole in him), he sacrificed his Quincy abilities to be able to survive and escape from that fight. I don't see anything wrong there, and also Kurotsuchi is the captain of the 12th division, which is resaerch-based, so his combat capabilities aren't as good as someone like Kenpachi's ones. Now, I have to give you this one, Ichigo shouldn't have been able to stop the Twinned Punishment, it's simply imposible, they just did that to make his entrance cool. Now, the Bankai issue, his Bankai is far from perfect, just like Renji's, and he needed something to beat Byakuya. I don't find this to be THAT bad. The power isn't unbalanced because of what you said, Ichigo managed to beat a Captain without having a Bankai, which means that a Bankai isn't that strong, and therefore, it doesn't break the balance too badly. Thanks for reading 2 The 13th Kenpachi and Sendou Aichi reacted to this
FlyingEggplant 116 Posted April 17, 2016 I love Bleach, it has cool powers, a great villain (and I mean GREAT), the concept is cool and the list goes on but it has gotten kinda stale in the recent chapters and Kubo kinda ruined one of my favorite characters (Kenpachi) 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

Svard 164 Posted April 18, 2016 There's a reason for Ichigo's quick power-ups and what not, but I do agree that many parts are poorly executed. When you compare the strengths of the captains to Ichigo in the SS arc, and then compare their strengths again in later arcs, it makes you wonder if the captains were really even trying at first. Though it could also be that they get lazy and rusty in times of peace. All in all, I liked it, more or less because I thought the main villain was interesting, and I especially liked Urahara. However, I only like it up to the point where the Aizen saga ends. After that, it just seems like the writer won't just let the manga die. Now, it just feels like a repeat of the Arancar arc, with one battle after another. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this

This new Quincy arc killed Bleach, the manga should've ended with the Aizen vs Ichigo fight. 2 Sendou Aichi and The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
Zerrick 43 Posted April 21, 2016 Meh, no idea, everything was going great during SS arc, but then it goes downhill hueco mundo arc...and I mean really downhill, from a manga readers perspective it was just fights back to back witg each fight lasting almost 8 chapters each so pretty 2-3 months just for a single fight then one chapter of actual story progression and right back to another fight. Most of the fights weren't even interesting and we're just gimmicky as all hell. Not to mention the main villian who is even worse than xehanort with "I've planned all of these events from the very beginning, including that phenomenon that has never occurred before until now" I stopped reading after the Quincy arc, at this point kubo is just writing to pay the bills, I'm glad that bleach is dying and that nature is done, neither of their authors really cared, now only oda remains, the one mangaka who actually loves his characters and stories. 2 Sendou Aichi and Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this
Dravoo 39 Posted June 2, 2016 I mostly read to see how it ends. I've put this much time into it I minds well see it end. I do feel it's got ridiculous after a point though. Ichigo being basically everything in particular made him far less interesting to me.
