GroovingOnUp 163 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Any of you guys ever thought about the reason they decided to keep us stuck in the coliseum for so many entries? The thing that always annoyed me about this is that there's a massive amazing world outside the coliseum and they barely used any of it till now. I'm assuming most of us here have already seen Hercules then you are well aware on how many great locations they could have adapted to make a great world. It's not like they ever never needed to follow the actual plot of the movie to make use of these places either. BBS especially felt like a big missed opportunity in not using these locations since they could have used them along with Hercules training, like for example Phil's island which i sorta doubt will appear in kh3 or prometheus academy which could have been a pretty cool location in BBS. Then you have places like these where they could have adapted to make into field maps Mind you this is still when Hercules is young and i have yet to even bring up Thebes or Mount Olympus and yet you still have so many locations they could have adapted into the games. Then there's the area where Hercules first met Meg and fought the river guardian(Another great potential boss fight) This normally wouldn't bother me but Hercules is one of my favorite Disney films and i just find it disappointing they would rather make us stay in the coliseum for the vast majority of the entries. I have no idea why it took them this long to go "Hey..maybe it's time we retire the coliseum and explore actual greece" Edited April 13, 2016 by GroovingOnUp 8 -Justin-, The Transcendent Key, Dave and 5 others reacted to this
CriticalAssension 161 Posted April 13, 2016 Well we have only seen 2 or three areas in the whole world so far. Obviously there would be the places we have seen in the trailer as well as the actual coliseum. While KH3 is gonna have bigger worlds and they will be less linear then KH2's worlds, you can't expect for each different world to have a enormous landscape. We would probably see a bunch of new areas and some of the ones you have listed however it would be strange seeing all the calm and grassy areas due to the fact to what we have seen so far, it looks a lot more...heaven-like (if thts the right word). No real nature we have seen so far but it would be cool if that place where Herc and Meg first met eachother were to be in the game. It actually really does look like a cool boss battle area however we have already seen Sora vs the giant Rock Titan which took place in tht new area......? So tht sort of rules that out but is still a cool suggestion 1 advfox reacted to this
Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted April 13, 2016 yea i never understood why they kept bringing it back and then doing nothing with it. I think KH2 had the only decent revisit to the coliseum because it actually expanded the world in both the environment and the story.
Oli 1,679 Posted April 13, 2016 Gotta love those mediterranean landscapes.
Setrex 1,031 Posted April 13, 2016 Could've been due to technology or time constraints really. The extra area in Birth by Sleep definitely felt lacking, but I don't think KH1 and KH2 can get that much stick for what they did. The colosseum was really an excuse to give the series a mini-game, which was painfully evident in the first Kingdom Hearts game. However, Kingdom Hearts II vastly improved the world by adding the Underworld, while also destroying the colosseum in the process. All while still giving us the tournament mini-games. As for, Chain of Memories and Re:coded... It's understandable why the world is like what it is in those games. I completely agree that it has been a missed opportunity so far, but hopefully that will change with Kingdom Hearts III and we'll see more of the world that is represented in the film. It definitely looks far bigger from the recent trailers that's for sure. I'm sure the team will expand a lot on the world from what Kingdom Hearts II and Birth by Sleep did. Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted April 13, 2016 I think they've already shown that they mean to SERIOUSLY give more exposure to the rest of the movie's brilliant landscape and design, so no worries on my part. If nothing else, they'll at least work on making the Coliseum (of course), the mountain range of Mt. Olympus, the city of Thebes (only expanded from that one square), and maybe if we're lucky some other locations like the Pantheon, Phil's training area, the Underworld (again, but maybe a little different), and actually going to Olympus. There certainly is a whole lot they can do with this, so I really hope they're making the game big enough to support these possibilities not just with this world, but with the many others too. Firaga 5,947 Posted April 13, 2016 That's nothing compared to being introduced to Neverland in the first game only to be stuck on a God damn pirate ship the whole time... never letting that go... To be a little fair, we got to explore the Underworld a little bit in KHII. That was pretty cool. But yes, a little more exposure to the actual world of Greece that OC has would be fine too. Just as long as they make it worthwhile because as nice as all those wide open fields and mountainscapes go, you have to give us a little fanservice by letting us see some recognizable props from the movie or something like that, right? 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted April 13, 2016 I'm honestly surprised they didn't find a BS excuse to shoehorn OC into 3D lol.But I like the world, the tournaments are fun

The theme song is the Musketeer theme song in KH3D. 13:22 is when the theme is shoehorned in.

GroovingOnUp 163 Posted April 18, 2016 Besides the environments i'm also a little disappointed about the lack of appearances from most of the cast from the movie. The fates for example could have made a really interesting boss fight.I don't even have to mention the gods and how it took them this long for us to meet one from Olympus. I can't see much use for the muses so i think it was fine they only appeared as a picture then there's the monsters Hercules fought in the movie.Seeing they brought back the Hydra i see no reason why they can't bring back the others. The fates would have been a fantastic boss fight for Aqua, instead, we get a clone of the Ice Titan?! Seriously: Hercules was full of monsters and you rehash one? I don't know what's more insulting, Olympus Colosseum's over-exposure of the Colosseum or the lack of exposure for the rest of the movie's setting... That would have been a great boss fight for Aqua.I just don't understand..it's like they're trying their best not to use all the interesting locations/monsters from the movie for whatever reason. I don't know...maybe they just wanted to save all this for a future numbered title at the time.It just sucks so bad having one of your favorite Disney movie relegated to something like this for so many entries. You realize that BBS's OC storyline takes place before Hercules got buff and before Hades released the Titans again, right? Yeah yeah yeah, 'But Ice Titan was still there'. Doesn't count. It was a Mirage Arena fight and falls under the category of the "Wibbly wobbly timey wimey effect" alongside Monstro, Eraqus's armor, and No Heart. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted May 1, 2016 Yeah, it's sad that we never got to explore Greece more, ya know? But hopefully, that's to change with Kingdom Hearts III, as from the looks of it, we'll be exploring Mount Olympus! Plus, we could have other areas around Mount Olympus that we could explore, so that's great too! I think Kingdom Hearts III will be the first time where Greece shines, ya know? Those monsters only showed up after Hercules got buff too. Not even the ugly minotaur dude that he saved Megara from happened until after that point. Honestly, it was a bit of a mistake to even include the OC world at a stage where its main character is literally just a prototype of himself. Maybe if the world took place during the actual events of the movie, as opposed to KH1/KH2 where they all take place after the movie, it would be grounds to include more fanservice-y esque stuff in there. Even without the monsters from the movie they still had a lot to choose from the show seeing Hercules was still young at the time.Instead they would rather use a weaker clone of a titan. Definitely agree with that, though.I just wish they weren't so dead set in using the coliseum every time the world appears, something that wasn't even from the movie.I wish they had used that other coliseum shown in the movie instead. Hercules just has so much untapped potential for an actual world, especially for something completely original plot wise if they wanted too while still using all the great locations from the film. Eh, I don't know abut that either. Hercules' Greece isn't really all that interesting either, to be honest. I mean, it looks pretty, and based on the footage from the KH3 developmental stuff, the designers made their version look pretty too, but that's it. Exploring the Underworld in KH2 was honestly a step up from anything else they could have thrown at us because, well, it's the Underworld. Its a habitat infested with monsters, the home of Hades himself. It's a much more interesting place than just Greece with all its normal looking people (well sans the son of a God, a miniature satyr, and a flying horse). In the same vein, the things that really make the movie and what the KH games always get right are the monster fights. The Titans, Cerberus, the Hydra, Hades himself, all of them were done well. The coliseum is also essential because it's the only place where we can host a tournament mini-game. What I am trying to say is that no matter what KH3 does with OC, the fights (like the Rock Titan segment for example) are what should matter because it showcases the most interesting and unique aspect about that property. Honestly,I just love Greek architecture.Having the chance to explore Greece for myself would always be a little more appealing than the underworld.I mean,it's not only Greece but Mount Olympus too, which i think is by far one of the coolest locations in a Disney film. I always loved the idea of Phil bringing Sora to Thebes, the same way he brought Hercules and right as they get there people are running away as an army of Heartless and monsters from the film appear, overtaking the city. Then after that Sora is regarded a Hero by the people. But yeah i do agree it's the monster fights that really makes the movie. It's just that, with so many monsters to choose from..why is it always the same ones?Especially since there's still 3 Titans that have yet to appear in the series. Now with better hardware,it's entirely possible from them to incorporate all of this along with coliseum matches.I just hope this time they put them in either Thebes or Mount Olympus. A change of scenery for coliseum matches is always a plus.As cool as it was having matches in the underworld the dreary scenery really starts to get you. Just those 3 Titans, the cyclops, and that centaur guy. Unless you're counting the various monsters that only showed up for a millisecond before getting pummeled by Hercules in the "Zero to Hero" montage. To be fair, I'm not saying going back to the Underworld is also a plus. Heck, we can have the best of both worlds really (no pun intended). The Greece part is obviously getting a lot of detail, so why not the Underworld too? Make it even more decrepid and ominous, maybe fight more demons. I like the idea of a world that has two sides of the same coin, it's like Halloween Town and Christmas Town.

I think they're capable in turning them into fun mini boss fights, especially if they turn them into Heartless variants. That's honestly what i'm hoping for the most.Just a massive world incorporating all the great places from the movie, the underworld to me felt a little disappointing anyway so if they could rectify that it's all the better. The room where Jasmine's tiger goes to make wee-wee? for one the sultan. He's locked himself in that palace since the first game so it would be nice to see what he's been up too.Maybe a thank you and a little reward from the Sultan for saving his city multiple times. Besides that, inside the palace from what we've seen so far looks amazing..like really amazing. On top of that it's really massive so there's bound to be lots of potential when it comes to exploration. I also hate that missed opportunity with them not using snake jafar as a boss fight inside the palace. So maybe they could do something about that now.
