Shulk 8,623 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) THE STARTER POKEMON AS WELL AS THE RELEASE DATE HAVE BEEN REVEALED GUYS! Release date: November 18th, 2016 Peace! In addition to this, Europe's been confirmed to get the game a week later than everyone else; November 23, 2016 is the release date there. Guess The Pokemon Company's still mad about X/Y being released a week early in some places there. Source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/05/pokemon_sun_and_moon_debut_trailer_confirms_starters_and_release_dates Now, with that out of the way... Holy crap this was amazing! The Alola region looks big and alive, the starters and legendary Pokemon look fantastic... I'm excited. This is definitely still my most anticipated game of this year. OmegaForte 1,674 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) Not going to lie, but my first my impressions are odd. I thought I was seeing fanmade deviantart starters. I'll await their full evolutions for full judgement, but I will say that the grass starter better remove that flying typing by it's last evo or it's doomed from the getgo lol. The legends are alright, but rather meh, especially the moon mascot. (A rather obvious design.) At least Leo Kingdom/Firamon the Sun mascot looks alright, but why am I reminded of Arceus and Pyroar... The region looks great, but looks rather small compared to others. It's probably the way the region is shown, but it should have other island since its based off Hawaii. Also Hoenn 2.0? Haha nah, but it reminds me of Hoenn. Edit: Watch the elite 4 take place in either individual islands or one island. That or we'll be visiting some old friends... Setrex 1,031 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) I'm incredibly bummed about that European release date. The Pokémon are only ok imo. Rowlet being the best one for me. Though I'll reserve judgement until their evolutions get revealed. The legendaries are... Well I honestly don't know what to make of them. I'm still hyped, but the trailer didn't really show much for me to be over the moon about. Still it's Pokemon so... Day one buy. AzureAce 544 Posted May 10, 2016 Super disappointed for this. Starters are very very meh. Sun legendary is a rip-off of Appolomon. Alola region? Really? That's super unoriginal. Not impressed. 2 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) and OmegaForte reacted to this
KHLegendIII 709 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) I'm on #TeamMoon now, even though I'm getting both games, because I like the Moon Legendary more than the Sun Legendary, even though it's decent. Edited May 10, 2016 by KHLegendIII

Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted May 10, 2016 Already up for Litten, just because it's a cat. I'm quite disappointed because of the mixed reactions, but it's to be expected. Opinions are opinions. For me, I see nothing wrong with what we've got and I think Sun and Moon both look fantastic. 2 FlyingEggplant and Shulk reacted to this
KairiKeybasH 851 Posted May 10, 2016 The Starters are just too hard to choose for me. And the Fire Lion is totally the reason why i'm picking Pokémon Sun.
Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) 3,859 Posted May 10, 2016 I'm not impressed. The truth is that I lost interest in Pokémon long ago, but this game seems to be nearly as dissapointing as Black and White. The starters aren't meh... they're rubbish, except for the fire one, it looks like they're all fanmade, but the cat seems to be slightly more original. The legendaries are complete opposites, I guess they did that right You've got a really amazing, and I would say fairly original despite it looking like a Digimon, Pokémon in Sun version, and an ugly, non original Pokémon that looks like a mixture between Noivern and Mega Salamence. The region looks neat, at least that's something, but tiny, it looks like they didn't really invest much time on it, well, similar to how it was done in B and W, I disliked that region. And that's it I guess, here in Europe we'll be getting it 5 days later, but I don't really mind to be honest. I doubt I'll ever get this game, and even if I did, it would be a long time after it released.
Guest Posted May 10, 2016 I can confirm to you one thing: the Water starter is the least loved for the very first time.
Shulk 8,623 Posted May 10, 2016 The official website for Sun and Moon has some extra details about the starters. First off, Rowlett: CATEGORY Grass Quill Pokémon HEIGHT 1'00" WEIGHT 3.3 lbs. TYPE Grass/Flying ABILITY Overgrow Rowlet can attack without making a sound! It flies silently through the skies, drawing near to its opponent without being noticed, and then lashing out with powerful kicks. It can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers. Its visual abilities are impressive. The darkness of night is no obstacle to Rowlet! It can twist its neck nearly 180° from front to back so it can see directly behind itself. It has a habit of turning its head in battle to face its Trainer and receive instructions. The move Leafage attacks an opponent by striking it with leaves. Rowlet knows this move from the moment it becomes your partner! Source: http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/rowlet/ Next up is Litten: CATEGORY Fire Cat Pokémon HEIGHT 1'04" WEIGHT 9.5 lbs. TYPE Fire ABILITY Blaze Logical but also passionate, Litten always remains coolheaded and doesn't show its emotions on the surface. Litten can attack with flaming hairballs! Its fur is rich in oils and immensely flammable. Litten grooms itself by licking its fur, and then uses the collected fur as fuel for fireball attacks! When the time comes for Litten to shed its old fur, it all burns up in a glorious blaze. The move Ember attacks an opponent by firing a small flame at it. Litten knows this move from the moment it becomes your partner! Source: http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/litten/ And finally, Popplio: CATEGORY Sea Lion Pokémon HEIGHT 1'04" WEIGHT 16.5 lbs. TYPE Water ABILITY Torrent Popplio's swimming speed is known to exceed 25 mph. It's better at moving in the water than on land. Still, when it's on land, it takes advantage of the elasticity of its balloons to perform acrobatic stunts and jumps. Popplio can snort out balloons made of water! Watch it spin water balloons into a playful battle strategy! Both frivolous and hard-working, Popplio can easily get carried away—unleashing enough power in battle to make quite a spectacle! But Popplio’s determined spirit means it can usually be found practicing hard on its balloon skills. The Water Gun move attacks an opponent by firing a jet of water. Popplio knows this move from the moment it becomes your partner! Source: http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/popplio/ Sorry about the weird quotes, they didn't seem to want to work properly. The source links also include some new artwork for each of the new starters. Also, the Japanese trailer is different from the one everyone else got. It shows off the character selection screen (skin tone/hair color choices are returning). I'll put that one here, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r0_F-_ClcQ 2 Hero of Winds and Yuya Sakaki reacted to this
Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted May 10, 2016 So, I rewatched the trailer a few times. I noticed that when Litten uses Ember its fur rises up on its back and has the red coloring of its stripes and facial patterns.

Setrex 1,031 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) I can confirm to you one thing: the Water starter is the least loved for the very first time. Wasn't Froakie the least loved out of Chespin, Fennekin and him when they were first revealed? Naturally Greninja changed all that negative perception. That's mostly why I am reserving judgement on the starters until I see what they will become. Edited May 10, 2016 by KHSoraKeyBlade
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted May 11, 2016 Good God....GOOD GOD!!!!! ROWLET AND LITTEN LOOK SO AMAZING!!!! Damn it, I really hate it when Game Freak makes it increasingly hard for me to choose a starter! I've always been a Grass type user, though there have been times when I've picked a Fire type as my starter! My starters in the Pokemon games I've played so far are Charmander, Cyndaquil, Treecko, Turtwig, Snivy and Chespin! I'm having a real hard time choosing between Rowlet and Litten! But hey, I've got enough time until the game comes out, so that's plenty of time to make up my mind of which starter I want! I'm gonna get Pokemon Sun cuz of that fiery awesome Aslan lion Pokemon! 2 atheist123 and Hero of Winds reacted to this
KH4Real 749 Posted May 11, 2016 I think more now are heading to Moon . I think I will go for water type it will own Rowlet so much with ice beam .
Shana09 5,769 Posted May 12, 2016 When I first saw it I thought the starters were underwhelming, similar to Gen II starters. Like I didn't know what to pick and not because they were all good (like Gen IV) but because they all were lacking something. Then I saw them a bit more and now I like them. Rowlet was the best out of them with the whole character and bowtie thing but I dislike Grass/Flying type combo. I personally see them as "supporting" or "secondary" typings and having them together seems to make him a little weak for me. Popplio or however you spell him is very very plain. I mean it reminds me of those fans who hate the new Pokemon for being over designed and want a plainer one like Gen I. He might turn out cool but he isn't as great as the last 3 Water types we had. Lastly there is Litten. I thought he was a little trying to be sinister starter but now he is my favourite. He looks cool, he has that "i hate everything" look on him, and he might become a tiger. Plus I'm getting a kitten soon so I might rename him/bond with him more. But I think he might be feline Houndoom tbh. Both legendaries look great but I had no idea what the hell the moon legendary was. I thought it was a curtain with rods. But now it looks cool and even tho I love Solgaleo more I might just go with Lunaala. The region seems great, I love the idea of Hawaii and multiple islands. The name Alola seems alright but seems a bit underwhelming. The characters look great (especially the cousin  ) with the exception the actual playable characters. They seem to be not going strong for the main character looks since we are going to change them anyways. So yeah basically this generation at first felt like a spin-off or a 6.5 to me instead of a full Gen 7, but now I feel it being a full-fledged generation.
