What do you find likable about Larxene?

We've had a discussion about this in other topics, but I wanted to talk about this in more detail. Here's where I stand.

 

Larxene did nothing but be rude and mean to Roxas from the moment they met. She had no reason to be mean - heck she hadden't even met him. I can not like anyone who does that - it goes against every fiber of my moral code. I see nothing likable about her at all. The only thing I wanted to do during that training session was fire my magic at her. So I want to know: why do some of you like Larxene? Do you see some redeeming qualities in her somewhere? I want to know where you're coming from so I can understand you opinion better.

It's funny how she makes fun of Sora in CoM

 

Apart from that, well, she's an Organization XIII member, which is enough reason to be one of the best characters in the entire series in my opinion

People like the sadist girl trope, if only because it's not actually what they encounter in most human beings. Something about the darkness is attractive.

 

Personally, I don't mind it; if nothing else, it's a take on the female characters in the series that we hadn't seen. Most of villainesses were older, more cunning adversaries, but Larxene ended up as a wildcard. It does generally imply a backstory that we have yet to experience. Same with Marluxia; I find him dreadfully boring because he's just a traitor for no reason. But in his case, people love their bishis.

I understand what you mean.
Personally, I just find her amusing. I like how unique she is, and how well she plays the antagonist. If she redeemed herself, I don't think she would be as fun of a character. It doesn't suit her. 
I'm only looking at her as fictional though. If she were a real person, i'd hate her as much as you.

That's true, but I can't like someone who acts the way she does, wether their real or not, let alone find it entertaining. Maybe because I've been on the other side of some of that, or maybe it's just who I am.

Primarily because in a series full of monotone, plodding, and stay-behind-the-curtain-until-the-last-second villains, Larxene actually DID things. She brought energy to the story with overt antagonism and a killer personality. The buttons she pushes to get Sora riled up were executed perfectly, and brought out the best in Sora to get him to a point where he never really went to again. She has the right blend of condescension and sarcasm while also being vulnerable and fallible, which makes her take slights personally and gets her angry, adding more dynamics to the scenes that she's in. Not to mention that her motivations of just being sick of being number 12 out of 13 is believable and holds strong enough to believe that she's willing to overthrow a bunch of stiffs just to make a name for herself. 

 

After Maleficent, I personally hold Larxene as the best antagonist in the series.

Villains who are just crazy without a reason tend to be very popular, because they entertain us in the best possible way.

In all seriousness, she was an effective antagonist. That being still, she's still a huge bitch, so again, screw her.

I wouldn't say Larxene was the best, actually she's one of my least favourtie Organization members (although they are my favourite characters leaving Xion and Roxas aside).

She's a rude b!@#h from the start, that's for sure, but I kinda like how she knows what she wants, and goes for it, and doesn't take anything from others. 

The manga version actually shows occasional humour, and she seems to like Axel as a sort of friend on occasion.

 

otherwise, there's nothing to like: she's cruel, sadistic, taunting, and just a general witch. Her cruelty to Namine is unbearbly evil. 

 

Her lightning powers reflect her personality: get too close, and you'll get hurt.

I have a love/hate relationship with her. I hate how she is well ( starts with b and ends in h) to Sora/Roxas and the others, that being said her sadistic nature makes her unique and well she is satisfying to beat as a boss. She might be a ghastly person; yet at least she has a personality that isn't drier than paint ( no prizes for who that is). Also she is enigmatic since we don't know her true person's identity. I'm hoping they make her an outcast of a social group ( hence her sadistic nature to gain ' power over others and why she wants to take over the organization- it could also explain why she became a heartless in the first place)

Larxene gave me life. Her sass along with Axel's  saved the overly sappy and ehhh COM story. It's a crime she was jossed so early in 358/2 Days with the rest of the COM members so we could have more time to ponder why does Xion have to exist at all

Everything that you find unlikable about her, I find likable about her lol.

 

I love how mean she is and I love how much of a bitch she is. Maybe I'm just a bit of a masochist though.
