The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) I'm not posting all the tweets in here as it's unnecessary drama. In case you don't already know, an IGN host/producer named Max scoville tweeted out "Kingdom hearts is the pop culture version of pineapple on pizza. Disney and JRPGS are great on their own, but mixing them is gross." As a result, a bunch of people started getting very angry, but to be honest I find the hate really unnecessary He stated his opinion, he's essentially stating that he doesn't like the series. It's really not that big of a deal. He criticised our favourite series-I don't see why we should all be so angry. I know it's not nice when someone dislikes what we love and adore-but we should try and be somewhat mature about it. The hostility is really pointless. If he started cursing the series out and told people not to buy the games or something along those lines, I'd understand the aggression. But bashing him because he hates our favourite series? I feel that's immature and will probably make IGN care less about the series. That is my opinion anyway. Feel free to agree or disagree. Perhaps I'm just not very sensitive. HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted April 6, 2016 Honestly who cares if someone doesn't like KH? Not everyone likes your favorite color or food either. It's just someone else's opinion and should not affect you personally. 6 The 13th Kenpachi, RikuFangirl2008, Robbie the Wise and 3 others reacted to this
WakelessDream 2,278 Posted April 6, 2016 Saw the tweets, honestly I think both sides are wrong though. It's fine for him to have his opinion, but the way those tweets were worded sounded kind of provoking, so I think he should have expected some sort of negative backlash. That being said however, a lot of the responses disagreeing with him went kind of overboard from what I observed, and if anything they were just proving his points about the comments he then made on the fanbase. I mean if he's being provocative don't give him the satisfaction of a bad reaction you know? Anyways, personally it doesn't affect me, I'm not even mad about it. Some random dude that apparently works for IGN, said he has a great dislike for my favorite series, that's great and I'd just move on from it. But that's just me. 8 Firaga, The 13th Kenpachi, EchoFox23* and 5 others reacted to this

keyslinger 307 Posted April 6, 2016 If you don't like it don't play it. It's his opinion but if he is intentionally trying to provoke then he is wrong. I don't care either way. The reason we have sites like KH13 is so fans of certain things can have a place to discuss them.
TheGuide 177 Posted April 6, 2016 I agree that its not a big deal that he dosent like KH. people dont have to, it dosent make them bad, i just think that the way he did it was just begging for anger. he didnt phrase that tweet in a way that got his point across in a civil manner - he purposefully insulted KH, and i think people are allowed to get mad when something they love is insulted. do i think getting angry and yelling at his is constructive? no way. but i understand why. if he had said "i just dont really like the kingdom hearts series" and people we attacking him, then i'd be like 'guys, its okay, not everyone likes KH, its fine. dont get mad at him, he did nothing wrong.' but he did do something wrong, he insulted a group of people for no good reason. i dont know if this gets my point acrross well, i assure you that try to be as level headed and fair as possible, but i cant stand when people say things just to hurt/irritate/anger people. it makes me mad. 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

Who knows, we may as well just move on i agree we should move on regardless of how we feel, but i want to point out that even though we couldnt hear his voice, the word he used clearly convey his intent, at least in my estimation. 2 The 13th Kenpachi and WakelessDream reacted to this
Dave 5,715 Posted April 6, 2016 in my opinion, no one knows how he intended it to sound. We can't hear his voice so we have no clue what his tone was. Who knows, we may as well just move on. Vocals are not the only way one can measure tone. Choice of words and phrasing are indication enough on their own. As it stands, it was obvious bait, and people seemed hungry for it, so it's mostly just a self fulfilling prophecy about IGN's attitude towards Kingdom Hearts. 3 Blooming Marluxia, Firaga and Nero Kunivas reacted to this

RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted April 6, 2016 Well, that's his opinion. He's has a right to hate on Kingdom Hearts if he wants to. People should just leave other people alone when they are voicing their opinion of something they hate. (That doggone song "Hater's Are Going To Hate" is in my head right now...) 2 The 13th Kenpachi and Blooming Marluxia reacted to this
Geotrix 862 Posted April 6, 2016 It's fans who put this series on some kind of unreasonable pedestal of greatness which makes the rest of us look bad. I love this series but there are aspects of it I dislike too. You got to see both the good and bad in ANYTHING to truly appreciate it. Does anyone really care that some guy stated his opinion? Kingdom Hearts in general has been known for having off-putting elements such as complicated narrative and its need for linking every piece of information together with tons of games. Just cause it appeals to you, doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to everyone else. Not saying you have to agree, but Kingdom Hearts is just a video game series and defending it this hard like its your newborn child just cause someone doesn't like it is so unreasonable to me. 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted April 6, 2016 Who cares, to be honest? I've seen people rag on movies and books I like online, but I don't stop watching them or reading them. He can have his own opinion, and Kh fans can choose to disagree with it, but why bother letting it stick in your craw? He didn't hurt you by saying Kh was bad, so why even think about it for more than a second? Just my view: feel free to ignore me. 2 Geotrix and The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

The point where people get mad and upset for someone saying they don't like a thing (even in the weird pizza analogy used), the line between liking something and blind fanboyism gets extremely blurry. It does a little: that, and it's not worth fighting over. Likely as not, you won't change how they feel, and only make yourself look stupid and easily provoked in the process. 1 Geotrix reacted to this

EDIT: Pizza with pineapple as a topping isn't even bad, can people please stick to hating on Anchovies... Wait a second... Maybe everyone is just mad that the dude hated on Pizza with pineapples, case CLOSED! Edited April 6, 2016 by Gamerazor247
Dracozombie 4,554 Posted April 7, 2016 tmw the people who try to defend your viewpoint just end up proving the other side right and make you look bad. But based on what I hear about IGN, I don't particularly care about what they think of KH. I personally love turning things-that-aren't-JRPGs into JRPGs, just like a lot of people can indeed like pizza with pineapples. And hey, shouldn't the size of the fanbase speak for itself that Disney and Final Fantasy's lovechild can appeal to people? 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

Shuy 110 Posted April 11, 2016 Lol people. He could have said "I don't like Kingdom Hearts" in the simplest way and I'm 100% sure he would have the same rabid fanboys hating him. Let's not forget some of them are here on this very website. Let's not forget people hating IGN because they mispronounce a name in KH. You (general you pointed towards angry KH fanbois) would have found a reason to bash him in any case. 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
