Well all the games thus far have been referred to as being part of the "Xehanort Saga" so I'm inclined to think he is the main villain.

It would be interesting if he were carrying out someone else's bidding, though I think I would prefer it to just be him, and save a different villain for post KH III. But that's just me. xD

All the Kingdom Hearts games so far are part of the Xehanort Saga, so Master Xehanort is the the main villain of the current Kingdom Hearts saga. And it's been confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will end his story and his final game. I hope Kingdom Hearts 3 secret ending will give us a tease of the new villain appearing in Kingdom Hearts 4.

Well, if he's not then I'm gonna feel kinda gipped. We've spent so many games with either Xehanort or versions of him. Switching it up at the last second would be Mass Effect 3 levels of lame. Even if it turns out that Xehanort is a reincarnated version of an ancient evil or something, if he's still the same guy, it doesn't matter to me. As long as HE is the big bad, that's fine.

Better to save a completely new and different antagonist for the next Kingdom Hearts Saga, since this one is the Xehanort Saga. Besides, every antagonistic act in the story so far have been pointing right back at Xehanort.

In order to bring in a new antagonist to a series, there must be someone else pulling the strings.

Examples: Gundam, Bleach (including the manga), Naruto/Naruto Shippuden, Stargate SG1, Power Rangers (depending on the season).

Just to name some of them.

Well, I believe that Xehanort is a man of free will, who is doing everything he is doing of his own accord, ya know?  He's like a philosopher!  A very twisted, sick, demented philosopher, to be sure!  His curiosity of the Keyblade War and Kingdom Hearts and the X-Blade have driven him to hurt many people in the process and ruin their lives!  He thinks of these lives as inconsequential in his end-game, so yeah, I think Xehanort is controlling his own actions, ya know?

I'm guessing that in Kingdom Hearts III, we'll perhaps learn more about how Xehanort started to verse himself into the lore of the Keyblade War and all other ancient events, ya know?  After all, knowledge his power, and his pursuit of knowledge has led to him gaining quite incredible power!  So yeah, he's the big bad of this saga, and I wouldn't have it any other way! :3

I feel he is the main villain overall- however saying that I would be very amused and satisfied if at the end of the game during the secret movie; we saw someone we didn't know appear and say something ambiguous along the lines of ' well you've think you've won; but that was only the beginning'/ ' light might have triumphed now; but nightfall is coming'. For me that would be perfect; Xehanort isn't replaced as the main villain in the game; yet the next saga would be hinted towards perhaps suggesting that other forces were merely observing on the side.
