Gym class

I think it fcking sucks. ._.

 

I mean, I'm not some fatass who eats chips all day and shuns exercise...I just don't like to be forced to play a sport that I don't like/am not good at.

 

We have a football unit in the fall. A freaking FOOTBALL unit. You can just tell how well that works out, since a majority of the guys in my gym class are six feet tall and weigh 180 pounds, while I'm just a clumsy little twig who can't even throw a football.

 

And I hate my gym teachers. Like, REALLY hate them. They're mean, and one of them is a fatass. ._. Yeah, she's definitely promoting good exercise and lifestyle habits.

 

In my gym class, we have quiz's that actually count towards our grade. Which is really just a waste of everyone's time. Noone really gives a shit about how many times a tennis ball can bounce before it's out, or what a certain part of the basketball court is called. Yet they insist that it's information that we need to know. And then they get upset when everyone fails the quiz's. -.-

 

Anyways, what do you think of gym class? Do you love it, or do you think it's a complete waste of time?

Gym and Health are the same thing in my school. Every Tuesday and Friday are Health days, and the ones inbetween are gym days.

 

Gym: I approve of, except, also, for the football unit xD I SUCK at football. But I love it when we play pillow polo. Since I play field hockey, I'm really good at it. ;D (pillow polo is hockey with a sock and mini pillow on the end of the stick xD)

 

Health: I agree. Why do we need to know any of this crap? In Health class we don't learn just health--we learn all of the sports-y terms. I don't plan on being a sports player unless I become a professional field hockey player. I don't think any of this really partains to me. And how many of us are actually going to become professionals? ._.

 

So, in short: gym is fun. All of the extra stuff that doesn't involve playing sucks.

I'm starting Health Class this year, so I can't put my take on Health class, but I can for Gym Class.

Gym Class: It sucks. I'm serious. It sucks. If you're only good at one sport, than your the laughing stock of the school. (Which may I note, that I'm only good at one sport.) And if you're only good at basketball (like me) you are treated like a total bitch.

Gym sucks, I'm horrible at sports, except for basktball, and people just leave me at the middle of the camp doing nothing. And the teacher doesn't care a bit about what we are or not doing, unless the one who isn't playing is me.

I was left out of freshman P.E last year due to healing from surgery, but this year feels just like grade school. I don't mind gym class, I enjoy running and jogging and exercise galour. But I am simply fat, and two pounds heavier due to the mechanical weight of the surgery. My only favorite sport is Soccer, its the only one I understand, even though everyone else says i could be good at football and all that other crap, I don't understand the rules.

Most coaches are generally extremely in-shape/fit/muscular, or they're fat because they've let themselves go over the years. It (really) depends on what sport they're coaching, if any, and what they do in their spare time and how they coach (do they try to be involved, or sit back and watch you work). Most of the overweight coaches at my school are a bit rude, but I tend to ignore them because I'm mostly never involved with them.

Since I'm in soccer, I don't have to worry about this much because I love working out (most of the time... Texas weather ins unpredictable D8 ), and my P.E. credits are covered in that too.

 

But personally, I love how schools are required to teach P.E. and Health, I do actually like how we have to do a yearly fitnessgram (at least in America). I understand some people aren't overweight, but there is a vast majority of this country that is. Health actually is a very good class to have, though it really wasn't one of my favorites I did enjoy it (especially when we drove with drunk driving). It really, really was not on my list of favorite classes and if I didn't have to take it I probably wouldn't have. But I liked going over things that were mentioned in the class, I don't really know, I'm interested in those kinds of things for some reason. o-o... I do think it's nice for people to at least KNOW some of the things and take certain things into consideration that is taught in Health. But it also sometimes depends on what teacher you have, like P.E. . It won't be a fun/okay class unless your teacher/coach is good. I like how P.E. is required because it makes people who don't normally work out on an almost daily basis (which people probably should IRL). Even if they aren't trying, they're still working out to some degree. You have to get your exercise some how, and for some people P.E./Gym is their source of their workout.

 

If you hate the class so much, try getting a P.E. waver if your class allows it. -- Unless you don't do any physical activities after school, this is a possibility. I know dance can be part of a waver if you do it often. xD

 

But I do think schools should make units (or like, the sport they're focusing on) optional, and do something else for the group of people that don't want to participate in the unit. It's what my middle school did in Athletics class, if we didn't want to take part in the sport of the week/day, we would simply run or have "free exercise."

my gym is just not that bad.well all we do is dress out and go to our rolecall spots where the coach see's if anybody is here of not.all i hate for my gym is mondays because we run all period on that day which sucks and the coaches dont care if nobody is chose to play

I like working out as well...I just really don't like how my Gym teacher's teach it. :/ I agree, Health is interesting, or at least more interesting than Gym.

 

Even though I play for the school field hockey team (and I'm thinking of joining a rec team as well) I seriously doubt they'd let me do that. ;_;

 

If they did that...oh my God, it would make Gym a whole heck of a lot more bearable. I won't have to play lacrosse or football ever again. 8D

Seriously though, if they're going to require someone to take a class, at least make it more/somewhat more enjoyable for them. xD

 

Maybe even give more variety (if possible?) like for example, my high school has tons of optional courses too aside from sports. Like aerobics, for example is one many people take instead of P.E.. xD

If Brazil schools were like that, we only have P.E. (that's quite the same things as gym around here) I've never heard of Health class since we don't have it, and they don't care if you're playing or not. If I was better maybe they'd let me play, but since I'm not they don't, no matter how hard I try they'll always end up pushing me aside. The teacher (he isn't a coach btw) doesn't care, he would probably be at the other side of the field talking to the girls about something that isn't important. Half of the class would stay there only looking, if I do that he'll shout "Gizele!!! Why aren't you playing?" Get over here now!" And that's all about it.

I really really hate gym. I don't mind exercising, thats fine, but I am extremely uncoordinated. Plus I have absolutely no muscle, I'm not fat, I'm really thin, but my arms are like twigs. I don't mind health since it's an easy class for me. I don't have a problem with their being a P.E. class. However, I don't see why I need 3 years of math and science, and four years of gym. Plus I don't see why I have to play sports in gym, I would much rather run laps all period than play a sport. I would actually be doing something healthy instead of walking around in circles pretending I know what I am doing. Health is a class I only have to take one marking period in high school, so I don't mind that.

I mean it's not like that I'm just some fat dude who eats chips and posts on this site all day, I love basketball, both playing it and watching it, I'm really good at it. It's just, I think that for P.E, we could have like seprate sections of the class take different sports for P.E. every single day.

PE/gym/whatever the bloody hell you want to call it = waste of time

 

Seriously, I had it for a year and a half, waste of time. the class was just RUN RUN RUN RUN stretch RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN ok play some lame sport RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN did i mention run

 

The teachers are pretty much all dickheads too. Sophmore year before I went out of the class, some idiot knocked me over, landed on my foot, hurt my foot, I'm expected to go run the mile since i missed it last class

 

I can't run, I can just walk, and only slowly. It took me like 45 minutes to do it and the teacher got all pissed off and was lecturing me, I explained to him what happened, and he says with disbelief "(whatever the kids name was) pushed you down?"

Yes, asswipe. People tend to not be able to run after their foot is injured.

Then he's like ROROROROROR IF YOU DONT PARTICIPATE MORE YOU'LL FAIL THIS CLASS

 

 

If possible, I HIGHLY recommend switching out of the class and picking something else.

If you get hurt, you need to tell them immediately if you can. They can't prevent you from stopping, and if they do you can try to get your parents involved if necessary. If you have to stop, then stop. If there's an injury and you seriously can't walk, they can actually get in heaps of trouble if the don't properly address the situation.

If someone is ever hurt and feel they aren't able to work out they should go to their school's nurse, or trainer and explain it to them and ask for a note to excuse you. Most coaches/teachers will understand. If they don't then bring in a parents note as well. =

I kinda like PE. It's not all hard for me. :P Most of the sports we play, is kinda fun and I'm okay at it.

 

First, we dress, then go inside the gym, take attendance, run around the field one time, then play a sport. If we have more free time, we just walk around and hang out. Sometimes once a week, we run a mile. .-.

 

All the PE teachers are nice and understanding. :D They let me out of PE all of the time when I said I couldn't run.

 

Most of the time, we don't do PE at all. We either have free play, an assembly, or some other reason for not having PE.

hmm...can't say i have these problems since i'm in JROTC and we only do PT(physical training) once a week. Except the part about being nice and understanding, unless its a serious medical excuse you will be exercising somehow.
