HMK 104 Posted March 9, 2016 Hey Guys! HMK here! Now I know the forum community is super down on all things Kingdom Hearts, that includes the manga! BUT if you haven't read the manga series based on one of our favorite games.... YOU NEED TO! Here is a video that explains my feelings about it and how it is REALLY serious.....like too serious sometimes! 10 RikuFangirl2008, Alicia Maddox, Col.Random and 7 others reacted to this

Moochieh32 676 Posted March 9, 2016 Didn't Goofy get crushed by rocks in the KH2 manga as well? I know he still lives, but the moment Sora sees Goofy's hat in the rubble and him and Donald start crying, that moment truly was darker than the game itself... and it really got me ;-;

The blade drops and everything. It was kinda messed up. 2 Moochieh32 and Kittenz reacted to this

Moochieh32 676 Posted March 9, 2016 I still think this was the most tragic scene in all of the manga series ;_; 1 2 quid is good reacted to this
Firaga 5,947 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Yes, and on the flip side, it's not serious enough, and some of these "serious" moments are honestly too serious as well. The tone overall is too flip-floppy. The original games at least stayed consistent with themselves. Edited March 9, 2016 by Firaga Sensei
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted March 9, 2016 Yes, and on the flip side, it's not serious enough, and some of these "serious" moments are honestly too serious as well. The tone overall is too flip-floppy. The original games at least stayed consistent with themselves. Different things for different people man. A lot of people tend to like the flip-flopping. In a way, it feels like a nice complimentary experience alongside the game, and I like how some of the ideas presented in the manga first found their way into the later titles. In a sense, this is probably the closest we will ever get to a Kingdom Hearts anime, for better or worse, but I enjoy every second of these things. Just makes it all of a more shame that they don't get to move on to the even more gripping titles after Days.

Fates Chance XIII 307 Posted March 9, 2016 The one that got to me is demyxs death in the manga. It's so simple yet so heart wrenching. He's about to fade away, looks up at Sora weakly and says, "I don't wanna fade...Roxas..." and he dies. It really effects Sora too, he looks guilt ridden and sad. Like he's an actual human being, doubting what he's done and what his mission is. And if the Organizations wants for a heart are really that bad. 1 Moochieh32 reacted to this
Col.Random 3,683 Posted March 9, 2016 seriousness aside the characters are also a lot more lovable and the manga doesn't try super hard to be child friendly. To sum my opinion of it in a sentence i'd say "I used to think the games were brilliant till I read one of the mangas and realized what the lacked" 1 Moochieh32 reacted to this

Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Inconsistent is not good. It's jarring. But hey, "different things for different people man". Well then tolerances will vary I guess. A lot of manga and anime tends to do that and a lot of fans tend to like that just fine. Variety is the spice of life as they say. I guess it's a trade off either way. If you feel that the games get too child-friendly for whatever reason, the manga certainly goes a touch further. But if you feel the manga isn't "consistent" with it's tone, then the games are at least a little more balanced. If you prefer balance over extremes then I guess the games will be more for you, but if you like jumping back and forth for extra variety the manga certainly delivers on that. Really between these two I find an enjoyable experience for myself, especially when I can't just carry my game systems with me everywhere. Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted March 10, 2016 I don't see what you mean. You can't stand the constant jumping between super serious and super silly, everyone else can. Most people love roller coasters while others see them as death itself. Some people view books as the best medium while others see movies as being much much deeper. What I mean is that while you can't enjoy the manga for these reasons, lots of other people enjoy them for the same reasons. People are just built differently, that's all. Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) I was referring to this: Oh, well just from my experience anyway, I find a lot of manga and anime tend to jump between two extremes of silliness and drama, sometimes to it's benefit, other times not so much. Mind you I'm not an experienced anime/manga veteran or anything, I hardly even scratch the surface of what most of my friends watch and read, but at least from what I've seen so far the manga doesn't stray too far away from what my idea of a Kingdom Hearts anime would be like. And again, it's just my taste, if you find that jarring I understand. Edited March 10, 2016 by Hero of Light XIV
