Roleplay RWBY -Dusk RP

Recommended Posts

She was late, and it was quite her fault. She had stayed later to cover a friend's shift until they managed to get there, and had missed the first transport to Beacon. Terrible afraid of the consequences, she executed her Aura Morph ability and took her base Eagle form. Winging up and away into the sky, she flew furiously towards the massive Castle, where she alighted by the empty mooring stations that the transports used. Morphing back as she landed, the young Huntress in Training sprinted towards the main hall, or where she assumed it was.

She was late, oh so late, and she probably missed orientation...oh she was so screwed.

Poor Sora, of course, moved too fast for her own good. She tripped as she turned to go around the fountain...and pitched in.

Surfacing, soaked, her fox ears laid flat. "...this is just going horrible, and I haven't even started..."

(Sorry guys I'm back now though.)

Shade looked up at the fellow student. "Im fine...name's Shade, and you?" he kept it short and simple like always. Shade was actually a pretty shy kid.

As Royce and the blue heads were talking they were interrupted by the head masters cough of s shushing the crowd.

"Welcome new students of Beacon." Ozpin gave his students the average welcoming to his academy and started his speech. It sounded like he didn't put much work into it and was probably used year after year. After his speech concluded he step of the stage and a blonde huntress stepped up. "Hello, I am Glenda Goodwitch. Tonight you will be staying here in he main hall and in the morning we will begin to formulate your teams. I hope you time here at beacon will be a memorious one." then she exited the stage.

- Iridia Clearwater -Iridia listened intently, quietly at first and steadily building up into a bubbly mass of excitement.  While the speeches thus far were not much and felt like recycled material, it was a momentous occasion, one she would treasure for many years to come.  However, the blond teacher, Ms. Goodwitch said an additional tidbit that gave her a hint of anxiety as well:  "in the morning we will begin to formulate your teams."  She silently hoped that the team she would be in would be likeable and friendly.  As much of a social bug as she was, it took the right crowd for her to fully be herself.

Looking back to her new acquaintances Starr and Royce, she gave off a half-hearted smile and asked them, "So, uh . . . why did you all choose to be hunters?  Back in my home town, the Grimm are finally backing down and withdrawing from our farms, but I want to be prepared, strong, and certified.  I want to go out on missions like my mom, Grimm-related or not, and chart a course for my own grand future."

The smile she now emitted was more than real and practically beaming, and she expectantly looked up at her two acquaintances in hopes of continuing.

The speech of professor Ozpin was not as exciting as he had hoped yet it was still enough to make him nervous. The most troubling part involved the formulation of teams. What if his teammates he ended up with didn't find him likeable? What if he failed to make a good first impression and they hated him? What if they found him untolerable and people were mad at his presence because they had to put up with him? He was confident in his combat skills but what if the others were much better and he ended up being a burden to the whole team?

All those questions swirled inside his mind but then another question was posed which added to the stress.

This one came from a very happy-looking Iridia.

"Why did you all choose to be hunters?"

The fact hunted him ever since he finished his training at the combat school he used to attend.

He had no reason for being a hunter. It all started as a way to pass his lonely and dull life as a kid and after running away from home there was nothing else he thought he could do other than keep training. And now here he was. With no motivation. Just the passion to get stronger for no real reason, so he could spend the rest of his meaningless life slaying monsters. This was the only way to make himself useful in the world.

There was no way he could reveal all that, since he had yet to fully confront that truth.

For now Starr had to come up with a lie and so he came up with the most cliche answer.

"I always dreamed of travelling the world, fighting monsters on the way, and having epic adventures." Starr quickly replied and instantly switched the attention to Royce. "What about you, Royce?"

Mendum was a little confused by Professor Ozpin's speech but focuses on his last line: "It is up to you to take the first step." (If this isn't the same speech from the first Volume please inform me).

He begins to think how inspiring that last sentence, making him almost forget the rest of the speech.

He turns back to Shade and says, "I'm Mendum. So uhm, that was Professor Ozpin right? I haven't really heard much about him... or anyone else famous for that matter. He must be a great huntsmen though if he's the headmaster of this academy."

Royce-

Although Royce found the speech recycled and was put together with no thought. He also found it a bit exciting, actually starting beacon.

His new acquaintances asked him a question he knew he could answer immediately with no thought at all.

"Simple, I chose to be hunter found the excitement. There is no bigger gamble than your life." he smirked. "Sounds crazy but I love the fear of possibly losing something you cheerish." Royce flipped a card and observed it. "But I guess it's because I have never lost a gamble yet."

Shade-

Shade remained silent during the whole speech and didn't really give it much thought. He then looked up to Mendum who was talking to him. "Surely he must be great but it looked like had other things on his mine than welcoming a group of new students."

Dominic wasn't to surprised when Sapphira thought that we was mute, he got that a lot growing up. Very quietly he said "I... I'm ju-just sh-sh-shy when I me-meet new pe-people." As he finished saying this Ozpin showed up to give a speech... It didn't last long though, and Dominic was pretty disappointed and it showed. "Th-That was a pr-pretty stupid a-and disappointing  s-speech am I right?" Dominic asks shyly.

- Iridia Clearwater -

Iridia was more than pleased by Starr's answer, enjoying the thought of having grand adventures as well and not catching anything odd about his statement other than his quick delivery.  Royce's reply, on the other hand, earned a somber, puzzled stare from the blue-haired girl.

"I admit that there is a lot of excitement in the life of the hunter, but do you have a death wish or something, hoping to gamble your life, or anything else you cherish?"  She had to admit that she was a bit surprised by herself for saying this, possibly because she had a long history against gambling, but she pressed the matter.  Somebody had to knock this guy off his high horse, or at least in her opinion.  "How about a bet?"

Sapphira crossed her arms across her chest, shifting the majority of her weight into her left hip.  She maintained this pose throughout the duration of Professor Ozpin's speech.  Truthfully she was about as impressed as Dominic.  It seemed like he was rather uninterested in what he was saying, and it was a wonder that he even proffered this speech at all.  She was slightly more interested in what the blond professor had to say, however, and was quite enthusiastic in what would make up her team.  Could she be chosen as leader?  The possibilities were endless and exciting; she hoped that Dominic and Iridia would be on her team.

Finally she turned to Dominic and smiled.  "Hey, it's no problem if you're shy!  We're all shy sometimes.  It's nice to meet you, Dominic, and I'm really glad that you're not a mute.  We'll have a lot more fun conversations that way."  Sapphira tilted her head and offered him a wide smile.  "And yeah, that speech was totally lame.  He's probably rehearsed it a hundred times and could mumble it in his sleep.  C'mon, I want to introduce you to my cuz."

Taking Dominic's hand, Sapphira began to lead him through the crowd, mumbling a dozen "Excuse me"s and several "watch out, coming through!"s as she went.  Finally she arrived behind Royce and Starr, clearing her throat to get all of their attention.  When Iridia would finally meet her cousin's eye she waved broadly, a huge smile on her face.  "Hey, Iridia!  Made some new friends, eh?  Meet mine!  This here is Dominic, and I also met a lovely lady named Nutmeg."

Adri stayed in the back of the crowd, listening to the speech with some interest, but it petered out as it went on. She never understood why people liked to speak for so long. Most of what he said had little to no earning anyway. Still, it was over. She was a little surprised that the new students would apparently being staying the night in the main hall. Still, it would give her time to study the other students. Maybe make friends?

Royce-

Royce smirked at Iridia. "Okay,.... I bet we won't be on the same team." He then took the card he was looking at and put it back into his deck and put the deck up. "You choose the wager." Royce was excited.

"Sounds good," Iridia commented, licking her lips in the thrill of potential winning and the chill of potential losing.  By the looks of this man, he would fancy something larger than chump change or the cost of a meal.  Those would not do at all for this man who has a high-rish, high-gain mentality.  Feeling rushed and not fully thinking straight, she went for the first thing that popped into her head.  "If I lose I give you a kiss.  However, if I win, you'll owe me a big favour.  Deal?"

It was then that she recognised her cousin behind Starr and Royce, and her face grew pale as she stood in shock.  That lasted only for a moment, however, before she recuperated.

"Hey, Sapphira!" Iridia greeted, waving back with a delay.  "It's good to see you're making friends too.  Please meet Starr Dandelion, a fellow bluenette, and Royce Lee, who I'm not sure of right now but will have to figure out later."  She cast a very signature glance at him that more-or-less said "Say anything about that bet and you're dead" before continuing to move on with Dominic.  "Pleased to meet you, Dominic.  You've picked a very right candidate for friendship if you've chosen my cousin.  Say, is there a reason you guys are holding hands?"

Dominic waved shyly, hiding behind Sapphira and when Iridia asked about the holding hands thing he looked down and noticed they were still holding hands. He started to spaz out and his face turned bright red to the point where everyone could notice him. "I, this-this isn't what it looks like.... Sh-sh-she wa-was taking me t-to in-in-introd-duce me to y-you!" He shouts while freaking out.

Royce-

Royce smirked at the stakes given "Deal." He was very certain he was going to win and he had a secret weapon. Even though he could care less about owing a favor to someone his pride wouldn't let him lose the bet. When Sapphire and Dominic approached them Iridia gave Royce a look to stay quiet, he nodded silently. After being introduced he reintroduced himself. "Call me Roy L." he really preferred this name for the pun for a Royal Flush and his love for cards. When Dominic got flushed and red Royce laughed quietly at his reaction for defending himself.

Starr did not like the sound of that deal. What he disliked the most, however, was the idea of Royce and Iridia kissing. He couldn't tell if it was because he had feelings for the blue haired girl or if it was something else entirely, they had only just met after all, but what he was certain of was that he didn't want to be around when Iridia lost. He wasn't a pessimist but he knew that the chances of the two being in the same team were really low when taking into account the vast number of students that were going to be attending in Beacon.

Before he could get even more lost in thought, a couple of students showed up, which Iridia introduced to him and Royce.

Sapphira was Iridia's cousin while Dominic was a friend hers. Who had just met and were already holding hands.

If only he could be so bold. Dominic tried to explain himself but his constant shuttering made his words hard to understand.

Royce introduced himself and Starr thought to do the same.

"As Iridia has already said I'm Starr. Nice to meet you." He introduced himself with a bow and despite understanding the situation he decided to tease the two with one of his jokes, despite completely understanding the situation. But after seeing how Dominic had reacted to Iridia's statement he feared that the guy was going to suffer from some odd panic attack. Either way, he went on with it because he needed something to get his mind away from the whole bet thing. "Either way, Dominic, it seems you have a way with the ladies. Care to offer some advice?"

Iridia laughed at Dominic's and Starr's responses and held out her hands in a calming manner.

"No worries, Dominic.  I'm only kidding, and I'm sure Starr is only kidding too."  She gave a warm, friendly smile at the two, Starr first and Dominic afterwards, before offering her right hand to her latest acquaintance.  "Charmed and honored to meet you, Dominic.  Oh, and where's your other friend, coz?  Her name is, um-m-m, Nutmeg, if I recall right?"

Sapphira stole a glance at the people between herself and her cousin and offered them a grin.  "Nice to meet you folks," she greeted, before turning her gaze back toward her cousin.  At first she was a bit baffled by Iridia's remark on her holding hands, until she'd realized that she still had Dominic's hand clutched tightly in hers.  Beside her Dominic started to freak out, to which Sapphira was slightly hurt by.  Was she really so revolting that he couldn't stand the thought of being paired with her?  Of course, he was likely just shy, but she couldn't see past her initial thought.  Sapphira just sighed and shook her head, releasing Dominic's hand.  "No reason.  I was just bringing him through the crowd to meet you.  Didn't want to lose him or anything.  There's no need to start freaking out."  She said this in exasperation, more toward Dominic than to her cousin.

"Anyhow, it's nice to meet all of you.  I really can't believe that we're all here.  Do you guys hope to all be on the same team or something?  I really can't wait to hear our teammates, and especially who will be leaders.  I would love to be a lead!"  A huge grin appeared on her face, until Iridia questioned her other friend.  Her brows furrowed in response as she shifted her body weight around to peer behind her.  "Oh, uh, yeah . . . .  Nutmeg.  Yeah, that's her, though I guess she didn't follow along.  Ah, well.  Nice gal; I'm sure you all would like her."

Sapphira stole a sideways glance at Iridia's friends again.  Something certainly seemed up.  Her friend Royal had worn an odd smirk on his face while Starr just appeared nervous.  "So . . . am I missing any of the good stuff?"

Why did she choose friends that were too fast? Nutmeg had been busy trying to grasp all of the obvious subtleties to Ozpin's speech. After all, he was such a grand fantastic man, there was no way that a speech like that could be taken at face value. When she came out of her own thoughts, she realized that both Dominic and Sapphira had disappeared. Her ears flattened in annoyance. Well that wasn't very nice. She managed to catch sight of them dashing through the crowd in a very specific direction. She looked around, and decided that she might as well follow them. It didn't look like anybody else was open to conversation right now. So she pursued, putting her head down and moving swiftly, pushing slightly. Thankfully her lithe frame allowed her to go through the crowd without much resistance.

She realized that she hadn't had to push through anybody for a few seconds. She glanced up to see why. And then she collided with someone. Both went sprawling. Nutmeg got up and found herself in a large open area. The other girl looked rather furious. Wind howled around her, her lengthy green hair flying. Nutmeg got up and rubbed the back of her head nervously. "Uh, I'm sorry about that, I wasn't looking where I was going."

"Of course you weren't. I would hope you wouldn't bump into me on purpose." The green haired girl said, getting up. She placed her hand on her hilt and drew the dagger, feeling pissed. She had to sit through that speech and now just sit here for hours on end? What the hell was even the point of coming today? Why not just wait until the next day when stuff was going to get done? Viridem's adrenaline was pumping now, and she desired a fight. This poor wolf had just offered herself up as a victim. Nutmeg waved her hands warily.

"Hey now, no need for this." She said anxiously, glancing around hoping for some back up before things got out of hand.

Royce-

Royce waved his hand. "No, no. There's nothing going on we were just talking about the odds of these two blueettes meeting in a crowd like this." He gave a small smile and glazed at Iridia with a 'I got you, covered.' smirk. When he got the opportunity he leaned over to Iridia and whispered to her without drawing attention. "I also bet me and your, cousins boyfriend will be on the same team." Knowing the odds suddenly scooped into Iridias favor excited Royce more.

Shade-

Shade witness a faunus girl run into the green haired huntress and the confrontation that was ahead. "One moment." He gestured to the boy he was talking to and headed to the feud. "Is everything okay?"

Starr raised an eyebrow towards Royce as he altered his bet in a way that was a lot more unlikely for him. He didn't know why but it was weird to see him so smug and confident when faced with impossible odds. It was like he knew something that nobody else did. Either way, Starr turned his attention to Dominic since he felt a bit bad about making the joke after being aware of the guy's condition.

"Iridia is right, by the way." He said after ignoring Royce's whispering concerning the bet. "I'm only kidding. I tend to do that a lot so please excuse me if I ever sound rude. I don't really mean it."

After clearing that up he turned his attention to Sapphira who had brought up the subject of teams and leaders. "Either way, I believe I would make a great leader, I am really great after all." Starr lied. There was no way he would make a good leader. In fact, he was fretting the chances of him becoming one. He knew there was no way they were going to choose him but if it came to it he wanted to lie about it despite knowing he would be bad at it. He believed that if he kept repeating something, even if it weren't true, then maybe someday he could convince himself.

- Iridia Clearwater -

Iridia took in a short breath in preparation for dismantling her cousin's suspicions, but Royce seemed to have already covered their bases.  He gave her that knowing look, to which she returned a simper of thanks.  Furthermore, when he leaned in to decrease his odds of winning even further, she gave him a puzzled sideways glance and replied on the sly "I really hope you don't mind owing a favour" the first chance she got.

She quickly reentered the heart of the conversation, overhearing from Starr and, previously, Sapphira, that they were eager to be in leadership positions.  To be honest, she had to admit that her cousin would be a great leader, but she knew not whether it was because she greatly looked up to her or not.  Sapphira was adamant, clear, calm, and powerful -- all strong candidacies for managing people -- whereas Iridia knew her weaknesses only too well.  Starr had potential, and she eyed him with interest in the meanwhile, but his confidence seemed cocksure rather than comfortable to her.  She knew, however, that images could be deceiving.

The sounds of hostility broke out from nearby, catching her ear, but she had no idea as to where the fight was happening.  Feeling an odd sensation in the pit of her stomach, probably because of the tensing aura or the flutter of wind that should not have been there, she decided to dismiss herself.

"I'll, uh, break away from you guys for the moment, but I hope you both will be leaders!  I'll be rooting for you!" she spoke half-cheerfully, backing away into the crowd and shoving her way through it, seeking out the source of the commotion.

Making her way through a wide ring of people, she easily found the source.  Two girls, one with weapon drawn and the other timidly backing down, stood in the middle of an open space, and she was worried that something would go wrong.  Her hand went to the gaudy pearls wrapped around her neck on a string, more out of determination than fear.

Dominic looked at Sapphira took hold of her hand again, noticing that something was wrong. "I-I'm sorry if I-I hurt your feels I-" He started to cry, because this was the only friend he could accept. With everyone joking he starts to get more and more scared of them... He hated to be joked with, because it made him even more uncomfortable around the people. He hid behind Sapphira even more, but as they talked about teams and leaders he chimed in, but said out loud, "I hope I don't get any Faunas people in my team." With thinking of the consequences.

(I messed up when I first met Nutmeg so, I know we already started and I am changing how he acts against Faunas people, but this is how I was going to have him act when I made my Character Sheet... I apologize if I confuse anyone and if you want my to edit it back to how I first acted then I will gladly do so.)
