Well Yessie, my finely attuned amigo, let me enlighten you!  Maybe there's more to this than that little mouse lets on!  He's been all about secrets throughout the series, so who's to know what dirty secrets he has in terms of Aqua!?  He could have actually abandoned her!  But, that's just good ol crazy me talking!

 

Transcendent what's his name would probably say something like, I dunno, that maybe there was a specific thing that happened there that caused Aqua and Mickey to separate, which was why he couldn't save her!  Or maybe he was able to save her, but she decided to stay behind to keep the Heartless at bay!  It could be either of the two, or something completely unexpected!

 

Either way, it's all speculation till 2.8 comes out!

It's funny that irl, that would be the most likely scenario for any dangerous situation, but here it's a contrivance.

Yes that is something noticeable, but I have a feeling it's because of way Mickey escaped the Realm of Darkness that Aqua couldn't copy or it's because of some event in the Realm of Darkness that allowed Mickey only to escape. we'll know when we play 0.2BbSFP.

That actually makes me consider that Aqua has a secret plan to defeat Xehanort and will execute it in KH3. Something that the devious tactician Xehanort will never see coming.

This is something that I have in mind. While Mickey was traveling in the Realm of Darkness and met with Aqua he wanted to save her but didn't get a chance to because Mickey was helping Riku battle the darkness and Ansem with his heart at Castle Oblivion and when Mickey escaped the Realm of Darkness he didn't get a chance to save Aqua. That's just what on my mind but we won't know until 2.8 releases.

I would think that Aqua probably stayed behind for a reason. Seeing that some of the worlds were being brought into the dark realm, she may have been trying to figure out a way to save them from within the realm of darkness. It could even be that she is part of the reason the worlds were able to return to the realm of light at the end of KH1. That's my theory, anyway.
