Why Kingdom Hearts III will finally have a strong showing this year

Recommended Posts

Yes they could, and if they did SE could focus on a new game, but Nomura may not handle it that way (1).

Yes, it will likely be on PS4. The gap between KH2 and KH3 is because Square was not ready for the HD era, and the story apparently needed many side games to prepare for the next main course. This time SE is use to HD and will have plenty experience with PS4's tech. Also if they use the same engine it'll go even quicker (2). This'll be a whole new saga so I doubt they'll need any "preparation games" (3).

1) Why not?

2) Hope you're right, man.

3) But what if they decide to remake 358/2 Days and Re: Coded as playable games? And what about the "full version" of 0.2?

Not really sure. He doesn't say why, but he's had the KH team deal with 1.5, 2.5, and 2.8 by themselves instead of outsourcing them to another dev and focusing on KH3. If he would have done the latter KH3 would probably be releasing this year.

I am, last gen was the introduction to HD. This'll go smoother.

Well if they did that then KH4 would be delayed considerably, probably being pushed back to next gen (PS5) as each of them would take 2-3 years. Unless of course they were low-budget remakes in which they could reuse a TON of KH3 assets (sorta like Re:chain did with KH2). If they did that then each remake could be out in about 18 months, but by that time it's almost 2021 and the PS5 is just around the corner.

Now hopefully they can make Birth by Sleep Volume 2 reusing a lot of KH3/0.2 assets and work on KH4 along side it, and get BBS2 out in 18 months. That would be the smartest option. However I highly doubt we'll be seeing 358/2 Days and Re: Coded remakes this gen. MAYBE next gen. BBS2 and KH4 are much more likely to happen on PS4 after KH3.

1) So you're saying KH3 was delayed because of the HD Remixes?

2) Didn't know that, thanks for informing me. ;)

3) So Birth by Sleep Volume 2 has higher chances of happening (and being on the PS4) than the remakes?

Development was slowed down by it. Perhaps by about 18 months or so. KH3 would probably have a release date right now if they were outsourced.

Of course, happy to help. :D

Yes, it does have a better chance. Nomura has already said he'd love to tell the story, but hasn't commented one bit on those remakes. 0.2 makes BBS2 even more likely.

Honestly the combat in 358/2 days was rather bland to to me, but I did like the keyblades. As for recoded I just didn't really care that much for the story.

Well, that is what I hoped for bro!

I liked all aspects of it, but not to worry. A remake of that scale would guarantee the battle system to be reinvented if it did happen.
