Welcome, Naruto fans, to the official discussion thread regarding "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations", the upcoming manga series detailing the adventure's of Naruto's son Boruto Uzumaki, as well any other Boruto related topics.

Here we can talk about our thoughts/theories on the upcoming manga, the additional one-shot, what we thought of Boruto: Naruto The Movie, and so on.

As a reminder, here is the article that confirmed the upcoming one-shot and full manga series.

Also here is some other additional material that you might not know about:

"Boruto: Road to B" (promotional Boruto movie one-shot featuring the artist for the Naruto SD series)

"The Day Naruto Became Hokage" (a bonus omake also related to Boruto found in the latest guidebook Zai No Sho. There is also going to be an anime adaption released with the Blu Ray/DVD version of Boruto: Naruto The Movie this July.)

I'm so excited for Boruto. :D I loved the movie and can't wait to see what's going to come out of the new manga series. I'll check out the links you posted later. I've read Road to B already, but that Hokage one's new.

I'm personally not. I love Naruto and what it is but I was ready to let it go....Boruto is gonna be the GT of Naruto

I'm guessing you didn't watch the Boruto movie if you're saying that. If that movie and Naruto Gaiden work as indicators of how the new series will be, it's going to be fantastic.

Dragon Ball GT and this new BORUTO series are under completely different circunstances.

You're correct. I haven't seen it, so I can't say yay or nay to it accurately. I guess what I'm getting at was more: When Naruto ended, I was ready for it to end. I'd been reading it since it's beginning and after years of going and going and Milking itself dry, I was sort of hoping they'd let it be. Then Boruto was like "imma be a series too" and it saddened me. I just lost a little respect for the series is all. Again, I love Naruto. I hadn't cried at any other series' Characters like I have with Narutos characters (namely one in particular but still)Anyway yeah. I was just so ready, personally, to let that anime series be at peace. Idk hard to explain really

A franchise is meant to be milked, as long as there´s quality products there shouldn´t be a problem.

Meant to, maybe but should be? No. Idk. I know from a business stand point, it's the right thing to do. But for me, the respectable thing to do is let it end properly. At least for a little while. Like a good 5 years at least

We have confirmed release dates for both the Boruto manga and the accompanying one-shot written by series creator Masashi Kishimoto.

The one shot will release officially in the combined 21st and 22nd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on April 25th, and then the manga will release later on May 9th.

Also, the title of the one shot is confirmed as "Naruto Gaiden: Michita Tsuki ga Terasu Michi", (translated as "Naruto Side Story: The Path That the Waxing Moon Illuminates"). The one-shot will focus on Boruto's teammate Mitsuki.

EDIT: (4/8/16)

I found this:

This is is supposedly a promotional image for both the one-shot and the new manga, but I couldn't find a source. If this scan pops up on a legitimate news site, I'll cite the article they post it under just to make sure.

EDIT: (4/21/16)

Mangastream has released a translation for the Boruto one-shot.

My personal thoughts on the one-shot:

Well, I guess China is apart of the Naru-verse now. Guess that means the "Shinobi World" is just a heavily altered version of Japan... ormaybeitsapostapocalypticbecauseNarutoactuallytakesplaceinanalternateuniversewhereJapanwonWorldWarIIHOLYCRAPMINDBLOWNANIMETHEORIESLOLOLOLOL

Honestly though, the chapter was pretty creepy, but it was as expected when the main plot was something involving Orochimaru. Still, it was a nice sentiment on both Mitsuki's and Orochimaru's characters, especially Oro because he's really hitting some interesting new character beats, mostly carrying off of his characterization from the end of the original manga but still providing some new aspects. It's almost like he's trying to amend for his past mistakes, even if it's still in his own sort of twisted way. Still, I like it. It gives him some depth. :) Mitsuki seems to have grounds for someone who can involve into someone really interesting too.

I loved the one-shot.

I mean, aside from seeing my man Suigetsu again, learning about Mitsuki's past was cool. Seeing Orochimaru seemingly try to make up for his past mistakes was interesting, too. Of course, what really stole the show was Mitsuki going Sage Mode... Holy crap, that looked cool. Can't wait to see that in action in the manga!

Also, in honor of his return, I'm just going to throw this in here.

I detest that  'The Day Naruto became Hokage' SO MUCH. For most fans, I'm sure we've all been curious to know how that moment went down, ever since we heard Naruto say in the first couple of episodes (or chapters) that he wanted to be Hokage. From the moment I heard that, I wanted to see the moment he was declared Hokage. It would have been so emotional and heart pounding..........

But no, we'll have Himawari randomly knock Naruto out instead. I get so frustrated talking about this.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY DOES KISHI SENPAI DO THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

He got elected to be Hokage, and then he became Hokage. Not really much of an interesting story to tell to be honest. In fact, the one shot actually made it entertaining, not to mention funny.

The only thing I will have against this manga is if boruto surpasses naruto like sasuke suggested that he could, there is literally no way that boruto can do that without kurama and six paths sage mode.

It would probably have to be something brand new considering Boruto has no interest in repeating anything Naruto has done.

but sage of the six paths sage mode is the closest thing humanly possible to the origins of all chakra, I just don't see it being done logically without adding something dumb like universal chakra or something like that, And boruto is going to have to copy naruto at one point, sage mode in general is just too powerful of a transformation to pass up, he can do something other than a frog, but he atleast has to have sage mode if he is ever going to even try to stand in the same tier as his dad.

Sage Mode is also a possibility, but it's hard to speculate about going anything beyond that since Naruto already perfected its control.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Chapter 1 of "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" has leaked online.

My thoughts:

So... that was a Hell of a way to start the series. I mean, Naruto's dead, Boruto's fighting Kawaki (i.e. that kid from the first promo art) in a final battle sort of context, Boruto has a Byakugan of unknown origin, they both have tattoo patterns on them which I assume will be their equivalent to a Tailed Beast Cloak or a Cursed Mark state and et cetera... and again, this is all in the first few chapters. Wow. If this was an attempt to really hook in viewers, then considered me hooked.

But then of course after that we basically start with a retread of Boruto The Movie. Honestly, considering how DragonBall Super's first episodes turned out, I'm really not that surprised. It has been a year since that came out and does serve as basically Boruto's first major arc as a character so you gotta do it. I did appreciate the extra scenes included with Moegi and the Ino-Shika-Cho, a pattern I'm sure that will be repeated as the story goes along, which again, I appreciate.

All in all, it was a pretty solid chapter even if the material wasn't all that surprising. The writing for Boruto The Movie was pretty excellent anyway so I can't be mad at the content. Also, Ikemoto's drawing style seems to be shaping up pretty well for a first chapter. So yeah, we'll see what happens from here.

I feel like this is a bit of a risky start since it kind of spoils some big stuff that's going to happen later on down the road, but it is a great hook. I'm excited to find out what was going on there, but dreading the inevitable death scene for Naruto... Also, really curious about the Byakugan and tattoos.

The Boruto retread's going to be a little slow, but hey, it was a great movie. I won't complain. Not that much, anyway. Jokes aside, I do like the new scenes being included, and I'd like to see a few more. I'm liking Ikemoto's art style, although it looks a bit weird on a couple characters. Nothing bad, though.

Par-tay is going to be the new "LOOK AT THE MOON!" Just wait. :P

Damn, those first pages were awesome! Sad to see that Naruto will be dead by then (my favorite character :( ), but I'm really excited to see what all lead to this scene.

I guess we'll see the retread of Boruto the Movie for a while, but that only makes me want to watch it again xD Great chapter!

Kawaki states that Boruto will soon join his father as it looks like the two are reaching the final stages of their battle. The village is destroyed, and if he was around, I'm sure Naruto would be the one fighting this kid instead of leaving it to his son that might not even be a Chunin by that point. It's safe to say that Naruto's dead during that battle.
