Proof that Kingdom Hearts is a Square property.

Recommended Posts

No the 'evidence' you posted here says no such thing - it only actually says that square was involved and they are - they developed it. But developing and owning are two separate things.

The copyright from the US government office is official and does not get more 'big boy' than that. If SE co-owned KH it would be on the copyrights. It is not, it's only Disney and that's firm proof.

Their section on the back cover for Square is just like Disney's. And we don't even know if Javelin's info is totally correct.

He copy and pasted from public records - that's all there is to it. Plus you also said the VP of Disney Interactives words didn't count bc they weren't involved but the copyright directly names Disney Interactive as being involved so the VP's words clarifying it's Disney holds true.

Proof that Disney owns Kingdom Hearts and SE DEVELOPS it....

1."A lot of people are confused about who exactly owns Kingdom Hearts, but it's Disney - it's developed in partnership with Square-Enix."-- John Vignocchi Vice President, Production at Disney Interactive Studios

2. Copyrighted by Disney Developed by Square Enix

Thank you dear. In all seriousness, I am glad we can really rely on you to clear up this stuff.

I said it didn't matter cause the particular man who said it had nothing to do with KH. The back cover clearly just says All Rights Reserved, then in a separate  sentence talks about their copyright for FF characters.

I still don't know what Javelin did for certain. And we still don't know if the documents even tell the full story.

That man is the VP and that alone holds weight. SE still holds copyrights to their original characters in KH - meaning FF and TWEWY. Disney owns all original KH characters like Sora and pals. Javelin cited his source which is a public office in the government where anyone in the public can check and see. Prove him wrong and show me a copyright with both SE and Disney then.

We know nothing of the original characters. Nomura, an SE employee made them after all.

Yes, Nomura designed them, but KH assets are owned by DIsney. That copyright notice is required because Square Enix's assets are part of the game (and no, they aren't the KH original assets that I am talking about).

Once again show me an official copyright proving Javelin wrong. It's public record. Javelin did it so so can you. That's where he cited he got it. The characters designs were bc SE still owns copyrights to their original characters and states so. Look at the years stated and that just proves that. Also this:

It said "All Rights Reserved", not just "Developed by". And it's on the actual case so it holds more weight than Javelin's documents IMO. No offense, Javelin. I'm not sure where to actually look for documents, but I'll take the actual game's word for it.

To add to this, Disney designed Oswald, but until 2006, it was owned by Universal. Another example of designer and creator does not equal owner.

Once again SE still holds copyrights to their original FF and TWEWY characters and the labels reflect that. Nomura has stated himself Disney owns the original KH characters not SE.. He also mentioned that Disney holds final clearance on everything. Why? Disney owns it. Javelin cited the exact source and it's public record meaning anyone can access the records. Show me where the official copyright says differently than what Javelin posted and cited with source. Until then it holds up firmly. The official copyright holds more weight bc it goes in detail on an official government document and public record.

Want to take the game's word for it? Here you go. The opening of the original Kingdom Hearts has the copyright notices.

Notice the Squaresoft copyright notices. It only mentions characters. Now look at the top. It says 2002 Disney.

Bro, you're a good friend of mine which is why I will say:

Everyone here is correct. Disney owns KH, but it's developed by Square Enix. The fact that Nomura states that he's limited by Disney on the amount of info he can release about KH3 further reinforces this fact.

Peace!

so does this mean Sora, Riku and Kairi are Disney characters and not SE??

We don't know for sure. Technically they are SE at heart because Nomura made them, but hopefully SE owns them too. Disney really doesn't do ANY of the work. SE does it all.

I say co-owned, they say Disney-owned, but neither can really prove it.

Actually Flaming Lea and Javelin showed you lots of proofs that it's owned by Disney. The only thing SE owns are the Final Fantasy and TWEWY characters.

That's why Disney pays for all the marketing, and not Square Enix.

Also this is from the official KH3 website:

It cleary says copyrighted by Disney, developed by Square Enix.

It has been confirmed by Nomura they are owned by Disney and they have final say over them. It's why Sora originally wasn't in Dissidia bc Disney didn't want their characters in 'violent ' games lol ( or something like that)

Nomura designing them does not make them owned by SE. SE basically works for Disney as their developer and etc etc.

As I said earlier, creator does not equal owner. Like with the example I made earlier of Disney's Oswald. It was owned by Universal despite being designed by Walt Disney himself, but they bought him back in 2006. So all KH assets belong to Disney unless Square buy them from Disney.
