Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally announced!

Recommended Posts

The most recent Lego game that I own is Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. This is going to bring me back on board. Can't wait until it's out! From what I've read, it's going to cover some events that happened between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, which makes sense seeing as how there's just one movie for them to cover at the moment. It would have been nice if they'd waited for the entire sequel trilogy to be out before making the Lego game for it, but I'll still get this one as soon as I can since I loved the old Lego Star Wars games and The Force Awakens.

Also, if anyone wants to see where I saw that thing about it covering events between VI and VII, I got that from this article: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/02/lego_star_wars_the_force_awakens_trailer_leaks_ahead_of_official_announcement

Are you going to say why you don't want this? Just posting a reaction video doesn't really explain much.

I'd love to:

- It's too early

- Not enough content

- Filled to the brim with DLC (That, of course, will not be available on the Wii U and released "Furzt on PS4")

- Will not do the movie justice

- Will censor things

They should've just waited until Episode IX came out.

Oh, cool, I didn't even know they were adding pre-movie content! If I were to guess, it'll probably be based on all the new canon novels that came out before The Force Awakens, since that's actually official Disney media.

Yeah, they should've waited until 2019 for a movie tie-in game. That's just good business.

Seriously, there's plenty of interesting settings from Ep. VII alone to make a full game out of, let alone including any post Return of the Jedi content. Also, have you played any Lego movie games before? They tend to do the movies justice pretty well, especially since recently they've been using actual movie audio for the games. The only real difference is usually making it sillier (saying they're "censoring things" is incorrect and cheapens the concept of censoring), mostly by adding more visual gags. And if there's one thing The Force Awakens needs more of, it's slapstick. :P

Yes, I've played some of them, and the gags weren't so "In your face" as they are now, I did not like what I've seen of Lego Avengers. No, TFA doesn't need to be another comedy for the kiddies like some movies, that would just detract, wouldn't it be better waiting just a bit more and getting triple the content, settings and characters? I'd rather wait than rushing it out just to cash-in on the movie hype (Which will be dead by the time the game comes out), need I remind you what they did with The Hobbit game? Plus making DLCs a year or 2 after the game comes out for every new episode is just dumb and greedy to me, Lego games have enough DLC, they don't need more.

I forgot about those new novels. I can definitely see those being what they adapt for the pre-movie content, seeing as how there's not much more canon material to go off of now that Disney owns Star Wars.

-I'd agree that they should have waited until Episode IX is out, but they can still find plenty of content for this particular game.

-As I mentioned in my last post, they're going to include content between ROTJ and TFA. There's a lot to cover with TFA too, so there's sure to be plenty of content. We've only seen one trailer, and it was just an announcement trailer, so we have no reason to say that there won't be enough content yet.

-No word on DLC yet. From what I understand, there were only one or two Lego games that had DLC on every system but the Wii U, so there's no reason to say that will be the case once again. If they really didn't care about the Wii U that much, they wouldn't have released it on the Wii U.

-A little too soon to say that. Lego Star Wars 1+2 did a great job at adapting the movies while putting a Lego spin on them, and I have no doubt that will be the case for this one once again.

-Uh... I don't think that you can say a Lego game would "censor" the source content. There's not really much to censor, anyway.

So basically Ep. VII with maybe the Aftermath books, Lost Stars and any other book/ comic and their own levels that take place during the bridge. Also:

"Get the Deluxe Edition now and gain access to the main game, season pass content, and an exclusive Finn (FN-2187)TM MinFig"

It also looks like that Amazon page you linked mentions that it's going to have exclusive content to bridge the gap, so there's going to be even more.

Okay, so there's DLC. Still, as long as it adds a good amount of content to the game, I'm not too bothered by it. Given that the Wii U version has "Standard Edition" in its listing and a Nintendo Network logo on the box, I'd imagine that one will also get DLC.

No, I'd rather not wait minimum three extra years to play a new Lego Star Wars game. That's hardly "a bit more". If it were a cash-in, it would have come by now, not late June, and no offense to The Hobbit, but Star Wars is a much bigger and more beloved franchise, and can easily make much more money. Hell, they made a Lego game based on The Clone Wars, and I don't know anyone who was clamoring for that.

You're also assuming that they're going to just make the new movies into DLC; why can't they make new games for them? I'm willing to pay for them, as long as they keep up the same level of quality Lego games usually do, and there's no reason yet to think they wouldn't.

Also, what do you mean by "another comedy for the kiddies"? I really enjoy the humor in Lego games, and so do plenty of other adults. Just because it's kid friendly doesn't mean it's childish. You'd think someone posting on a Kingdom Hearts forum of all places would understand that.

WOAH! WOAH! WOAH! Them's fighting words!

...And that's legitimately all I have to add to the conversation.

Ooh, it's Star Wars, adorable-ized!  I remember playing the old Lego Star Wars games back when I was a kid!  I still have em for my PS2!  That's right people, I still have a PS2, and am rocking it! ;)

But yeah, looks like Lego The Force Awakens will be really funny!  Heck, I'm normally the funny one here, and I just couldn't help but laugh when I saw this video! Lego's doing good! :D

Sweet! Now we get to buy them one story at a time! :D

....wait...  :/

To be honest, a full collection would be epic.

There's a good chance that when the other new Lego Star Wars games are released they'll be bundled together, or they'll at least be cheap enough to buy them all at the same time. Lego Force Awakens is more for people like me who don't want to wait three more years to play all three main movie games back to back.

I'm getting it at some point. I kind of hope the DLC is expansive like the Lego Batman 3 dlc. There is a huge amount of dlc in that and it adds hours and hours of play time.

I know, it makes sense. It's just weird that Lego has to release them normally now, but it's not like they can just go into the future and make the games now I suppose.
