Exiblade7 1,917 Posted January 16, 2016 I'm aware that most(or actually all) rpg games are at least somewhat convoluted, but try to think what rpg game has the least convoluted storyline and is deep at the same time.
Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted January 16, 2016 i feel like the Persona games are pretty straightforward with their narratives while also delivering powerful themes and messages to the player. 3 Dio Brando, Exiblade7 and PillowHead reacted to this
PillowHead 569 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Dark Souls and Persona, absolutely. I would argue for The Elder Scrolls (the series Skyrim is apart of) as well, but I'm sure some would disagree. Edited January 16, 2016 by PillowHead
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted January 16, 2016 The World Ends With You is definitely the one I find the least convoluted.

TheKingdomkid 1,194 Posted January 16, 2016 Basically any Shin Megami Tensei games, Persona, I would say the Danganronpa games as well is pretty easy to understand 1 Dio Brando reacted to this
Dave 5,715 Posted January 16, 2016 I think the Paper Mario series generally has an non convoluted plot (collect seven stars and beat the boss) while still delivering a nice and satisfying plot. 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this

Sora96 17,256 Posted January 16, 2016 My favourite RPGs are written by Toriyama, Nojima and Watanabe so I can't answer this. Lol. 3 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀), Soul_Seeker and WakelessDream reacted to this
Soul_Seeker 753 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Putt-Putt Enters the Race [/sarcasm] In all honesty, though, I like to think Paper Mario has the least convoluted plot. Edited January 16, 2016 by Rocketboy227

Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) 3,859 Posted January 16, 2016 Final Fantasy I and II aren't very convoluted (especially the first one).
OmegaForte 1,674 Posted January 16, 2016 The Megaman Starforce games. Not really convoluted while having good plot and delivering a message or two. (Subaru, Misora... >_<)
Dio Brando 5,810 Posted January 16, 2016 i feel like the Persona games are pretty straightforward with their narratives while also delivering powerful themes and messages to the player. Persona and the Shin Megami Tensei franchise that it belongs to in general, while having deep and thought provoking storylines, are actually pretty simple to understand with veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery little and sometimes no retcons used.....emphasis on "RETCON" here cuz a certain director of a certain other franchise need to stop retconning Basically any Shin Megami Tensei games, Persona, I would say the Danganronpa games as well is pretty easy to understand in SMT's case it's really easy to understand........it's just the subject matter can be controversial in the case of games like SMT
Exiblade7 1,917 Posted January 16, 2016 Haha, that's Nintendo for ya. Even the Legend of Zelda series is pretty straightforward. Paper Mario: TTYD's storyline isn't THAT straightforward.
Dio Brando 5,810 Posted January 16, 2016 Paper Mario: TTYD's storyline isn't THAT straightforward. But it's still easy to understand all things considered Paper Mario's stories in general are mostly about the characters, the world and the charm they has moreso than the overarching story around them

I respect your opinion. My opinion is that the story for Paper Mario:TTYD's storyline is deeper then what people think it is.

It is a bit deep but the topic here is convolusion not deepness A game can be both simple yet has a deep story within it
