none of them i hate turn based

but i do appreciate the series for what it does, it's just not my style

They aren't all turn-based. X-2, XIII, XIII-2 are real time while Lightning Returns and Type-0 HD are Action-RPGs.

True, true. I do own Type-0 HD and I'm gonna play it soon, it looks awesome! But otherwise the other games in the series I've tried to play I just got burned out of due to not caring for turn based battles (I've tried 3, 7, 8, and 10). I liked some of the storylines and looooved so much of the music. Oh well, maybe I'll manage to finally push through them all someday because the series really is good and I do want to get more into it eventually.

LR is probably my favorite because it felt the most rewarding.  With the limited amounts of slots it made me really think about how I wanted to play.  If I wanted to debuff enemies, I had to make a conscious choice to pick debuff skills over a magic or attack skill, rather than having a character who was a master of debuffs that I could have in the party.  While I really appreciate and love each battle system in the series for their own merits, LR was where I truly had the most rewarding experience.

Isn't X-2's combat similar to FFIV-IX in that you can choose between Wait or Active ATB?

Really, really , really hard choice, I guess I'll go with Lightning Returns, but FFV, FFVI, FFVII, FFX and FFXIII have all got great battle systems!

By the way, isn't FFI and FFII the same battle system? I know the level up system isn't the same (no levels in FFII xD), but the only difference I can actually see in the battle system is how anyone can learn any spell in FFII, while in FFI it depends on the character's job.

It's sort of similar as far as I can remember, everyone has their own Time Bar, like the other games, but it fills quicker, and it's a lot faster paced when taking action, like when you chose what to do you don't have to wait, it does it immediatly, and while someone is attacking or whatever, the rest may be doing so too.

Seems like lots of people like Lightning Returns. Might need to try that game out.

It's one of the most fun games I've ever played.

It's similar but I just gave that example since it's faster.

What's your favourite Final Fantasy battle system?

I personally prefer real time battle system over turn based RPG so I chose Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Funny I haven't played Lightning Returns yet but have played XIII and XIII-2. xD

I wonder what's your's favourite Sora96?

Lightning Returns had the overall best gameplay, although I pretty much suck at it. xD But it's the most intriguing system of all the FF games that I've played (XIII trilogy, XII, VII and a part of X). Maybe if I played it some more, I'd be able to get the most out of it.

Final Fantasy V has my favorite battle system.I really love what they did with the job system, you can mix and match different abilities from all jobs and unlike FFIII the game doesn't punish you for switching job.If FFV had a better story and characters it would have been my favorite FF game.

It's a tie between V and VI. I think V had the best use of the job system in all the games, but I also liked how VI made the jobs unique to the characters, as well as how using Espers made how you leveled up more strategic.
