venxas24 544 Posted January 14, 2016 This is a discussion thread of how you personally would handle letting the public know information about KH3 up until it's release (ex: what you'd say in interviews, what'd be in trailers, etc.) I personally wouldn't show anymore trailers until the release date can be confirmed. As a fan I don't want to even hear about KH3 until I know when I can get it. I also think any other worlds in the series should be kept a secret. I want the shock and surprise of discovering a new world when I play the game for the first time. To go along with that I don't think there should be any gameplay or cutscenes that you wouldn't find in the first 3-4 hours of playing the game. I want the plot to be as vague as possible until I play the game. Revealing the voice actors would be alright for me, I'm not too worried about any of that info. That's pretty much all I can think of atm. Basically don't show anything outside of the average person's first 3-4 hours of playing the game to keep the surprise factor and so it's as vague as possible until you play the game. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Shuy 110 Posted January 14, 2016 Thats exactly what they are doing already, minus the release date thing which would be stupid
Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted January 14, 2016 i'd stop throwing out trailers with the same bits of gameplay. make a trailer showcasing the story and gameplay aspects and play it to the tune of Fate of the Unknown and when the music rises and hits the very last note have the screen cut to the release date for the ultimate reveal. afterwards idc. no spoilers, just basic common knowledge about the mechanics and what we can expect the game to play like i guess. Nomura went on about how DDD would feature an event that KH fans would never expect but then they made it really obvious from the trailers and box art that Sora would fall to darkness. Yes, it would be shocking if we only knew what the main characters knew, but we're able to think and put two and two together. wasn't a big surprise. so i'd keep anything spoilerish under wraps, just to be safe. 1 PillowHead reacted to this
KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted January 14, 2016 They would show as little as possible while telling a bunch about the possible story. The interviews would have to give either one or two hints.
Seyin95 175 Posted January 14, 2016 As far as I am concerned any news is welcome, nobody wants a drought period and since Nomura has said this is an important stage for KH3, I see no reason to hold information back. Whilst 2.8 undoubtedly will have the spotlight, not mentioning or showing kh3 is a pr/marketing own goal. With regards to worlds, I do suspect we'll find out a few more this year and maybe next year; however seeing as there will be more worlds than ever even knowing 5/6 isn't a huge blow. So to conclude; the release date is understandably welcome, but anything we get is decent; I mean people might say they don't want combat scenes etc but after D23 people were pretty infuriated that we didn't see the trailers. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted January 15, 2016 How would I handle promotion for Kingdom Hearts III? Hmm...this is a tough one to answer! Well, in my case, at E3, I'd show a story trailer, but obviously, with no spoilers to the plot, ya know? The trailer could kind of go the way of the final trailer for The Force Awakens, which stated things the audience already knew! (Example: The Dark Side...the Jedi...they're real.) I'd do that for Kingdom Hearts III! Put bits of the story we players already know of, but still get us excited enough for the game! And well, I'd also show a clip or two from the worlds that have already been confirmed, to see how the characters of the worlds will look like in the Kingdom Shader! Then of course, there'd be more gameplay, but I think the gameplay this time around should be from San Fransokyo! I want to see how that world is shaping up to be! And well, after all the epicness we see on screen, which should last an approximate 3 minutes, the Kingdom Hearts III logo flashes on screen, and then the final seconds of the trailer say: "Coming 2017." That would be a beautiful touch! And well, in terms of interviews, I'd talk about the gameplay mechanics and how they've evolved, I'd talk about how much time it'd approximately take to complete Kingdom Hearts III, and I'd talk about whether or not voice acting for the game is complete, ya know, stuff like that! But I'd probably keep mum about story details, maybe just saying one or two things that no one will notice, or that aren't considered spoiler worthy, ya know? Gahhh, I NEED TO SEE A RELEASE DATE ALREADY!!!! X_X
