Square Enix answers FFXV questions

Recommended Posts

This article by Gamespot is interesting: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/square-enix-answers-final-fantasy-15-fan-questions/1100-6433707/In response to the last question the devs said: "The equivalent to difficulty level settings in FFXV is a system where you can switch between different battle modes," lead game designer Takizawa Masahi said. "By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style. This switching system is a key part of the gameplay that we decided to introduce based on the feedback we received from the Episode Duscae demo. We will go into more detail about the system closer to the game's launch so stay tuned for more information."It'll be interesting to see what the other battle mode is. It sounds similar to the switching between ATB and turn based seen in older FF games, but for an action game. I have no idea what the combat in the other mode will be like.

Posted ImageCould this be the alternate battle mode they are referring to?

Notice the bottom left hand corner. This HUD is completely different than the one that is used in Episode Duscae. The life bars are also changed. It will be really interesting to see the full game reveal in March

This is probably in response to the Japanese audience saying that the game was too hard, as they are prefer the more slow paced though out style.  I will say that this is a genuinely genius move on Square Enix's part, assuming that it is a good system, as it may win over players who think that the game is too mindless to be Final Fantasy.  The next ATR will be very interesting to see, as the image announcing the ATR already shows that there have been quite a few changes.

I'm okay with no difficulty type. I always get hyped up starting a game only to sit for an hour on the difficulty select screen deciding whether or not I'll be happier in the end having gone for a trophy or whatever.

So wait does that mean we get to pick between turn based or action whatttttIf so that's insane.

one system will be like what is used in episode duscae and the other one will be a slower-paced version for players who thought duscae was too challenging

Final Fantasy XV developers took the time to answer a few questions on the official forums, via Community Manager Dan Seto, regarding the city of Altissia, the game’s two battle modes, and more.

“I can tell everyone a little about Altissia at this time.

Altissia has many and varied locations, such as multiple cafes, ship-bourne market places and parks etc. The city is of a considerable scale, to the extent that even the developers sometimes get lost there!
The player is free to take a leisurely walk around the complex maze of streets, or ride the gondola to see the sights and there is also added enjoyment to be had looking for restaurants to visit!
You are bound to encounter some unique characters when exploring the city streets.
So we have created lots of different things to enjoy in Altissia and hope everyone is looking forward to visiting!”

Next, Lead Game Designer Takizawa Masashi revealed that Final Fantasy XV will feature two different battle modes players can choose from. The first one will be geared toward action-oriented players, and the other was designed to appeal to players who gravitate towards a more relaxed style of combat.

Lastly, Lead Level Designer Terada Takefumi shared a bit about the game’s warp feature, and also briefly mentioned the possibility of aerial battles.

“The warp ability that lets you teleport instantly to high up locations is a vital part of FFXV’s battle system. The ability to use multiple warp points in a strategic manner is especially prevalent in the game’s large scale battles over urban terrain. It is not just the buildings though, and we have also created exciting aerial battles with flying foes and gigantic boss enemies, so watch out for those.”
