The Last Story

Recommended Posts

I know this isn't a recent game, but I am almost finished with this game. All I need to do are a few sidequests and then see the final cutscenes. The gameplay was something I wasn't familiar with in any RPG I played so far. Once I knew the controls, it was fun to play. However, there were times when I was really frustrated. I think it might have been my fault, but there were times I wish I was blocking when I was pressing the B button rather than continue to auto-attack just because I was close to a foe. I also wished I could have controlled other characters longer for more than just because of the plot. I also didn't like how I had no checklist for the sidequests. I had to remember which ones I did or which ones I still needed to complete. I also had to go around Lazulis City a lot of times to find those sidequests in the first place. I still think the good outweighs the bad. The sidequests were a good break from the story and I love the interactions between the characters. Some of those sidequests (maybe just a few... I don't remember) had character development. I love how equipping armor changes the character's outfit (like in Xenoblade Chronicles) and how upgrading them gives some armor on their arms and legs (I forgot what they are called).

My favorite character is Syrenne for the playable characters and General Asthar for the supporting characters. I choose Syrenne because her personality stuck out the most in comparison to the others. I seem to remember her the most when thinking back on this game. I choose General Asthar because he is an awesome guy. He seemed imposing at first, but sometimes makes jokes. For example:

General Asthar: Therius, no need to be so formal, it's just you and me.
Sir Therius: As you wish, General.
General Asthar: I - ugh, no wonder you're not a hit with the ladies.

For those who know or played this game, what are your thoughts about it? Who is your favorite character?

I myself only got to rent The Last Story, but I've loved it from what I've played of it. And, of course, I do intend on getting all three of the games involved in Operation: Rainfall. I already have Xenoblade Chronicles, and I look forward to playing both The Last Story and Pandora's Tower!

It's an amazing game, one of the best for Wii. I haven't played it in years, so I can't really give good reasons, so my favourite character is probably Dagran because of the storyline and his charismatic personality.

The Last Story was great, not without its flaws sure, but it was a real gem in the Wii's final days. Of course it'll always be compared to Xenoblade Chronicles because of the Operation Rainfall thing, but I always found the games to be very different and easily separable. I loved the cast of The Last Story (helped by the great dub!) and it was an enjoyable game. The controls were tough to get used to at first, but I think you can actually turn off the auto-attack in the settings (or maybe my memory is wrong on that).

I do wish Mistwalker had made another RPG for the Wii U, but it's understandable that they didn't. Though I believe Nintendo own The Last Story IP so... They could always do something with it if they wanted. Zael and Calista having trophies in Smash Wii U shows that they at least didn't forget about the game :)

The Last Story is a great game. The story was really interesting, the gameplay was fun and unique and the multiplayer was a tone of fun.I like a lot of characters, but I think my favorite was Jirall, not because I like him, he was an asshole all the way through, but I really like how he develop though the game.I don't want to spoil too much, but at the end you kinda petty the guy but at the same time you don't because he was such an asshole.

I loved Dagran for his personality as well until the later parts of the game. If you haven't completed Chapter 28, then don't read the spoiler. I don't know how far in the game you went.

When Dagran pretty much disappears for a good portion of the game, I started thinking that he was doing some suspicious things. When he revealed that he had a part of framing Jirall, I began questioning his actions. I still do like him, but not as much as before.

I don't think many people, if anyone, liked Jirall. However, I do understand where his jealousy and hunger for power comes from. It does make me feel kind of sorry for him, but most of the time I hate him.

After he dies, he said that all he ever wanted was to be happy. In the end, he was just a pawn being used.

I need to check if I can turn off the auto-attack. It would help if I can.

I never knew that there were Zeal and Calista trophies. I need to go and get them.  :O

I actually like mysterious and intimidating characters, so when he became rather mysterious and that sort of stuff, that's when I started to like him even more XDDDBy the way, I finished the game (years ago).

I think the main reason I don't like Dagran as much anymore is because he killed General Asthar. Asthar is one of my favorite characters.

The Last Story is an amazing gem of a title on Wii. In a way, it reminds me of Okage: Shadow King, a PS2 classic that isn't all that well-known. I liked Calista a lot, but mostly because of how viable she was in a multiplayer game, something I was just barely lucky to get away with. I'd go back and play it again, if I ever pick it up. I would have loved to see a sequel or something along the lines, but I can hope for a remaster at the very least.

Hmm, I remember reading about this game a long time ago in Game Informer!  It's a Wii game, am I right?  How good is it?  Is it a worthwhile RPG to play? :3

It is for the Wii. I think that it's a really fun game to play. I would recommend playing it.

It is very great chapters are short but in the end great gameplay.

If you plan to get the NX I doubt it will let you play Wii titles.
