Enix 995 Posted January 1, 2016 What made you become a fan? I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy and Disney so that's what made me jump on this train. What about you? What gave you the reason to pick up KH? 1 irinasi reacted to this
Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted January 1, 2016 Other: I didn't really mean to, I just kinda fell into it. I got the GBA Com randomly, and played it daily for a month. Then I just sort of got a new game every birthday, and fell into a new fandom. I'd heard of it briefly before I started playing, because I used to think the clock tower in the DAYS posters was the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, but nothing really guided me to play it. I'd never played FF, and Disney wasn't my favorite thing ever or anything. So my answer is: I just kinda fell into it by accident, and never looked back. KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted January 1, 2016 I loved Disney long before I loved Kingdom Hearts. A friend of mine, Genesis Keybearer, introduced me to the series in 2009. He persuaded me to try it out by buuying 358/2 Days and mentioning Disney mixed in the series. Ever since, I have never looked back. That decision was one of the best I have made; I have no regrets. 1 Philip Ellwell reacted to this
VisitJoan 2,713 Posted January 1, 2016 Well the inclusion of Tron: Legacy in DDD is what convinced me to give it a try, the original story is what made me become a fan.
Komali 594 Posted January 1, 2016 Utada Hikaru. Music is the most important thing in video games for me and I found the intro of KH2 by coincidence. A friend of mine was already a big fan of KH but he never tried to introduce me to the series. I slapped him on his head, then gave him a kiss on his cheek and said "You dumb b*tch, next time you show me these epic things you like" 1 Javelin434 reacted to this
Nmovies11 105 Posted January 1, 2016 I saw my cousin play Kingdom Hearts 1 on his playstation 2 and I was like: OMG DONALD DUCK IS IN IT CAN YOU PLAY AS HIM TOO. Than for a long time I forgot about the game untill I found a random video about it on youtube and for some reason i NEEDED to have the game.
Oli 1,679 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) Neither of those. I'm not a big fan of videogames, but my two brothers are, so back in 2009 my older brother got Kingdom Hearts II for Christmas and my little brother and I started watching him play. Eventually he let us play and I discovered I was pretty good at it, so my brother would let me do the bosses he couldn't beat. I crearly remember the three of us playing through the game and it was really fun, not because the game, but because it was the only time the three of us could do something together. Since then I trully believe that what makes something a good game it's actually the experiences you go through while playing it, rather than the gameplay/story/graphics. I wouldn't be a Kingdom Hearts fan if I played it by myself, alone in my room. EDIT: They plan on playing KHIII with me, but they haven't even heard of the DS/3DS games so they're going to be really confused lol Edited January 2, 2016 by Oli
mag77 405 Posted January 2, 2016 To be honest, I have no idea why I became so interested in KH. I remember seeing commercials for the first one when I was little, and it looked completely amazing! However, I sucked at it and didn't play it again until about five years ago. And the only reason I got back into it was because of 358/2; I just loved Roxas and Xion (and the rest of Organization XIII) and so I wanted to know more of their story. So, I think its a mixture of the pretty graphics, the story (as convoluted as it is) and the characters.
Shimmy 458 Posted January 2, 2016 Back in what...2006? My brother and I were allowed to rent video games, and Goofy (whom I love) caught my attention so it instantly became my choice. I didn't understand much of the game's plot back then but I grew fond of Sora, Riku, Goofy, Naminé, Axel, and Saïx specifically. Later I got introduced to Chain of Memories from a friend and quickly grew to like Vexen. I continued to show interest in the series specifically for these particular characters and soon grew to love them all. When Birth By Sleep came out is when I officially became invested. I adore the series for it's character and I love the story too despite it's questionable ways. It's really fun to speculate with :>
KHUndertaleFan25 2,858 Posted January 2, 2016 Well, i was only 7 and i was on my mom's old iPhone on Youtube (i didn't have an account yet). I soon came upon a video that had a certain brunette falling from the sky (that was what the thumbnail looked like i think). I was curious enough to look and, well, i thought it was awesome . I continued watching the rest of the KH1 cutscenes (not in one day, though ) and when i was done, i became so into the series that i kept going. And that's how i became a fan of Kingdom Hearts. Or least, how i remembered it.
Movies798 1,358 Posted January 2, 2016 Disney. It was pretty much Disney when I first saw the Kingdom Hearts commerical back in 2002 or 2003. But the game's original story with the Disney characters and Final Fantasy characters added to the mix got me to become a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts series. RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted January 2, 2016 Pretty much Disney was the start of it all, by me watching a lot of Disney Movies. Then came the first game trailer. When I was 13 or 14 years old, I always said that I love it because of the Disney characters I remember watching the movies they are in. Not only that, it set me straight with Final Fantasy let alone it introduced me to it. When I was little, I always thought Final Fantasy, was some typical romantic game for teens. And that was the time I thought Sephiroth was a woman... As of right now as an adult, I can say why is because, poetically it reminds me of what I was taught about life. I'm so into the story, the lore, the collaboration, everything!
KairiKeybasH 851 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Beacuse of my Brother and sister are fans of the series and i started liked it more to turn into a fan back in 2013. Edited January 2, 2016 by MarieltheKeybasHGirl
Svard 164 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Kingdom hearts was an interesting case for rme. I initially bought it for my sister, who really wanted it. When I first saw it, my thought was "Disney and Squaresoft? What the f*ck is this sh*t?" I liked my share of Disney movies and all, but playing a game revolving around Disney just seemed childish to me. My sister played it, got to the end and never beat it. I decided to start a game out of curiosity, and it took a LOT of effort to get passed the whole Disney thing, and the idea of weilding a giant key as a weapon. By the time I got to Hollow Bastion, I finally started to realize that I actually liked the game! The gameplay was awesome for its time, the story was unique, the characters were interesting (even Donald and Goofy) and, to my surprise, Maleficent actually made for a decent villain in the game. Now, I just don't think I can picture the game without the Disney element. Granted, visiting certain worlds still annoys me (Atlantica, 100 Acre Wood, and some others), but I've managed to get passed my issues with it. EchoFox23* 318 Posted January 2, 2016 A friend of mine showed it to me in a Nintendo Power magazine with Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days on the cover. I bought the game a few months later (and after buying a DS Lite) and fell in love with the characters and story. I would've completed the entire game a hundred percent.... if the stupid Dustflier didn't stand in my way >~<

Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted January 2, 2016 well when i was little i guess the appeal would have been the Disney characters. that's the reason why my dad bought the first KH for my sister years and years ago. but i never even really played it much so technically i'd say i got back into the series because i remembered the game from my childhood and decided to hunt it down to see what it was all about. so i became a fan out of sheer curiosity i suppose. i dont think back then i had my nostalgia goggles handy so the Disney aspect didn't really do much for me. Of course now I'm all about the Disney nostalgia, thanks to KH, and have even begun rewatching as many Disney classics as I can.

MasterNahi 46 Posted January 2, 2016 Well, the reason I was interested at all was because I saw a commercial of the first game on a VHS tape for Power Rangers Wild Force (I was such a Power Ranger fanboy back then), and thought "Cool! I can fight with Disney people!"My reason for becoming a fan, though, didn't happen until 358/2 Days came out. Don't get me wrong, I kept up with the series and played all of them right up to KH Re:CoM; still amazes me that I could, since I was 4 when KH1 came out. One day at the YMCA, I was on one of the treadmills that had TVs built in and I saw a commercial for Days, and I bought the game the following week. I played through the game, and then I got to THAT part: Day 357 - Tears. It was the first time I actually grew an attachment to a character from any piece of fiction, and then to have Xion die while her theme played in the background with Roxas not able to do anything but watch....I can honestly say that it was the first time the death of a video game character had hit me so hard that I cried. Ever since, I've been invested in the series, but I still wasn't hardcore about Kingdom Hearts yet; that wouldn't happen till Re:Coded. The characters are what pulled me in and have been successfully been keeping me in all this time. And I have so much gratitude for this series existing where I have no words to describe it.It's also why I get so defensive whenever someone trash talks Xion or Roxas, or even the whole game itself. Days is why I became so invested in the series. So, yeah, thank you, Xion, for.... dying, I guess??
