Nweintraub 630 Posted December 31, 2015 Ever since my Dad's birthday the year I was in 2nd grade, I've been a big fan of Star Wars. Probably the first one I've seen was Star Wars 1: The Phantom Menace. Now yesterday, I saw the new Star Wars film; The Force Awakens. & so far, compared to all the other episodes, I thought this one was, as quoted from the AVGN, a "shit-load of f.uck". Let me tell you some things that disappointed me about it; Before I saw the movie, I found out Anakin was cut from the film completely. Lando Calrissian was also cut.. I did not get to find out whether or not Jar-Jar Binks survived the events of post RotS-pre TFA. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, & Qui-Gon Jinn had no reference. The rumors about Donnie Yen being in this film was a lie the whole time. When I found out about Kylo Ren being Han Solo's son, I never got to find out whether he was originally Jacen Solo or Anakin Solo. Kylo Ren killed Han Solo. Finn dies in the end. Luke Skywalker had as much of a role in this film as much as Captain Barbossa did in Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead man's Chest. Now I don't get how this movie was better than The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, or Revenge of the Sith, because I think it was the other way around. Now this next part, you don't hear me say often; "Leave it to Disney to f.uck up a movie." I'm just not happy about it, & want a way to express it. 1 A Heartless Nobody reacted to this
Kotomi 95 Posted December 31, 2015 Well then... to begin with: references and such have probably been spread out over the new trilogy, so it won't bee too much in one movie. J.J. Abrahams did not set out to make " do you remember this character" - the movie. This is a new movie with new characters that will slowely take the places of the old ones. As for your individual complaints... - Duh, Anakin's dead. His story was done. - He was not cut, he just did not (yet?) appear. - Yeah... Nobody liked JarJar until a conspiracy that he was a sith, and that was way later than the script was written. Why would they bring back a hated character? - As I said, they're probably spread out. Also in Rey's force flashback whatever you can hear both Yoda and Obi-wan. - Rumors are just rumors, don't believe everything on the internet. - He was called Ben Solo. Han litteraly yelled " BEN" at him, befor their confrontation.(also a reference to Obi-wan, who went by the name of Ben after RotS) - Yep. - Probably not, it's hard to believe they'd just throw out a main character after just one movie. - Yeah, again because they're probably spreading this kind of stuff out. If you like it or not is all up to you, but the reason people like this movie is because it goes back to what Star Wars was in the ' 80s. None of that political bullcrap, no forced romance, no bad acting because of bad direction, no terrible cgi everything. 6 Silent, Aang, Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) and 3 others reacted to this
Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) 3,859 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) I'll answer you with my opinion on the quote: Ever since my Dad's birthday the year I was in 2nd grade, I've been a big fan of Star Wars. => This film takes place 30 years after The Return of the Jedi, and that takes place 21 years after The Revenge of the Sith, were you really expecting Anakin to appear? He's dead. Anyways, I think Darth Vader has been confirmed to reapear in Episode VIII, I don't know how since he's dead (I may be wrong though, he may not appear) Lando Calrissian was also cut.. => I honestly didn't really mind that he didn't appear. He may appear later, or at least be mentioned. I did not get to find out whether or not Jar-Jar Binks survived the events of post RotS-pre TFA. => No one really cares to be honest, and as I said, this is 51 years after that. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, & Qui-Gon Jinn had no reference. => I give you this one, although it can have become a bit to repetitive to just mention them again and again (especially Obi-Wan and Yoda) The rumors about Donnie Yen being in this film was a lie the whole time. => No idea about this rumor. When I found out about Kylo Ren being Han Solo's son, I never got to find out whether he was originally Jacen Solo or Anakin Solo. => His name is Ben Solo, he changed his name to Kylo Ren when he joined the Knights of Ren, the same way that Anakin changed his to Darth Vader when he became a Sith. Kylo Ren killed Han Solo. => It's a plot point, I don't find why that would make the film worse, but rather more memorable. Saying this is like saying that Episode 1 was bad because Darth Maul killed Qui-Gon or that Episode 4 was bad because Vader killed Obi-Wan/Ben Kenobi. Finn dies in the end. => He doesn't Luke Skywalker had as much of a role in this film as much as Captain Barbossa did in Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead man's Chest. => There's a good reason for this, that's for sure. We'll see more development in the following films. I'm not trying to convince you that the film is good, in my opinion it was really good, but not the best. You've got your opinion, and I've matched it with mine, no intentions of being offensive, I just want you to see how the people who liked the film think about it Edited December 31, 2015 by Xamtehwt MC (Trece) 4 Sendou Aichi, Shulk, KHUndertaleFan25 and 1 other reacted to this
Sendou Aichi 2,356 Posted December 31, 2015 I'll add some few things to the users above me: 3. To add to it, it's just a theory. It's dumb to consider it as fact. He is also probably dead of old age anyways. 6. EU is not canon anyways... 7. You can say it about every movie/book/video game/TV show, unless no one important dies in it(like KH), which did happened in episodes 1. 3 and 4. 2 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) and Shulk reacted to this
Nweintraub 630 Posted December 31, 2015 There's no way Han Solo could have called him Ben; He called him "Ren". He was probably using a Japanese accent because he accidentally thought he was filming Indiana Jones. Maybe it was just too fast & brief for you to hear it properly? Aang 649 Posted December 31, 2015 Before I saw the movie, I found out Anakin was cut from the film completely.- The first saga focused on him, his story is completed and onto the next generation of Skywalkers. Having him back in there would be way too much. Lando Calrissian was also cut.. - Not cut, just not in the film. Need to keep in mind that there's two more movies in the trilogy. They wont add in every single character in one movie, that'd be crazy. I did not get to find out whether or not Jar-Jar Binks survived the events of post RotS-pre TFA. - He was a hated character, and because of that its not mentioned. Plain and simple. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, & Qui-Gon Jinn had no reference. - There were voice overs in the film, but the fact that Kylo Ren is named after Obi-Wan is a reference in and of itself The rumors about Donnie Yen being in this film was a lie the whole time. - No clue about that one When I found out about Kylo Ren being Han Solo's son, I never got to find out whether he was originally Jacen Solo or Anakin Solo. - His name is Ben Solo, not either of those. It's said multiple times. Kylo Ren killed Han Solo. Plot point going forward. It made the movie more memorable and gave us more of a reason to see just how far down the path of the darkside he's gone down. Finn dies in the end. - One of the medical guys near the end states that has a pulse, he did not die. He will return for the following films. Luke Skywalker had as much of a role in this film as much as Captain Barbossa did in Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead man's Chest. - This is true. But again, this is the first of a trilogy. Over the next few films his role will develop and he will likely be as present in the next film as Han was in this one. There's no way Han Solo could have called him Ben; He called him "Ren". He was probably using a Japanese accent because he accidentally thought he was filming Indiana Jones. Maybe it was just too fast & brief for you to hear it properly? After watching this film four times now, I can verify that he said "Ben". And in film they do several takes to get what the director sees as right. This was a pinnacle of emotion and a huge aspect to the story, so there's no doubt they made sure to say it right. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this
Nick Sideris 1,551 Posted December 31, 2015 I wasn't really disappointed with the movie . It wasn't the greatest film ever made but it was better than the 1st and the 2nd episode from a lot of views . Anakin is already dead . They burnt him at the ending of Return of the Jedi . Lando might just be mentioned in the next movie 'cause remember the new story takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi . So the character might as well be dead . Nobody cares about Jar-Jar . The character might be dead . The movie takes place 50 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith . Yoda and Obi can be heard during Rey's flashbacks .Jinn has been dead for a lot of years . There's absolutely no need to mention him . Rumors are not confirmed facts . Kylo's name is Ben . That means you weren't asleep by the time the movie ended . But if you're disappointed with Han's death , maybe you should think about Harrison's age . Also , the Star Wars series need new and fresh characters . They can't always depend on the old people . That's not confirmed and it's too early for a protagonist like Finn to die . That's because they want you to go see the next movie to find out more about what happened with Luke and what's his role in the new trilogy . There's no way Han Solo could have called him Ben; He called him "Ren". He was probably using a Japanese accent because he accidentally thought he was filming Indiana Jones. Maybe it was just too fast & brief for you to hear it properly? I hope you're being sarcastic . 2 Shulk and Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this

Nick Sideris 1,551 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) The fanbase can get really offensive at times. What are you talking about ?! He clearly said he watched the movie and according to him Han Solo never calls his son Ben . There are three members (including myself) that have seen the movie and they've all heard Han call his son Ben . We certainly can't be wrong . So he's either trolling or being sarcastic . If he's being sarcastic , he should have clarified that from the beginning of the thread or he should have just avoided using sarcasm 'cause this ain't the Random Section of the Forum and a lot of people on here don't like sarcasm . If he did the whole thing on purpose , just a way for him to be offensive and/or sarcastic to other members , well , it didn't quite work for him . Of course , he might have been asleep when the whole thing happened but he should have clarified that as well . (the thing in bold) Anyway, I think it must be really irritating to be called a troll. I agree with you, Solo said Ben, that's for sure, but he might not have heard it properly or something, I think it's too extreme to just say that someone is being a troll. To be fair, he did miss tons of stuff, and he did stick to stuff that no one cares about like Jar-Jar, so you could say that he didn't catch much in the film or something like that, but I think that calling him a troll is just taking things to an unnecesary extreme (maybe I am overreacting to the word troll XDDD). Hardrada 117 Posted January 1, 2016 No it's not! I refuse to believe it. lf he were Ben, then he would be Luke Skywalker's son, not Han & Leia's. That doesn't even make sense, why can't other people name their son "Ben"? Ben Kenobi had ties to Han, Leia, and Luke. He brought them all together so It makes sense that Han and Leia would pay respect to him by naming their child after him. You're clearly the one who was mishearing his name. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this

Ok, say as much as you want, but he ceirtanly isn't Jacen Solo or Anakin Solo like you said on your original post. I told you that he's called Ben, and Solo didn't say Ren because he changed his name when he joined the Knights of Ren. If you're not happy with that, that's fine, but I honestly find it rather stupid to start such a massive discussion about something like this.
Shana09 5,769 Posted January 2, 2016 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kylo_Ren It says: "Kylo Ren (born Ben Solo) is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He was introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where he was portrayed by Adam Driver. Kylo Ren is a pseudonym for Ben, the son of original Star Wars trilogy characters Han Solo and Leia Organa. Though trained by Luke Skywalker as a Jedi, he has been seduced to the dark side of the Force, and aspires to be as powerful as his grandfather, Darth Vader. Ren is the master of the Knights of Ren, and a commander for the First Order, an organization spawned from the Galactic Empire." I'm going to lock this thread since its gotten out of hand. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this
