"We can stay here for the night if that is okay with you." Aya accepted the offer.

They really did not want a house here in this town, as they were only sent here to investigate. The way people treated each other here was insanely mysterious.

"U-Um I really dont plan on staying here long enough to have a home here..." Aya said softly, but loud enough for Alabaster to hear.

"I'm sorry Alabaster. I'll make sure my boy clothing line will come to you though." Aya tried reassuring the boy, as he was their only hope of getting out of here...but they needed to know what was up with these knights.

"Also, Alabaster. While in town today, I couldn't help but notice the presence of knights. Why are they in this small town? Don't you think the Queen is worried about them?" Aya confessed that she saw the knights, slightly afraid of the response the boy would give her.

Alabaster tilted his head. "Oh? The queen's knights? Well obviously they can't leave." Alabaster said as if it were the most obvious statement in the world. "They tried to go back but as it has been proven, once they enter the mist they return right back. After a while they gave up on returning so they settled down. Some have even found love and have decided to ultimately remain here for the rest of their lives!" Alabaster said rather proudly. He paused and crossed his arms. "The Knights came here to find out what happened in this town, but as you can see once they entered they couldn't leave. The same thing will happen to you, sadly." Alabaster said with a wary smile. "You can try and leave but the mist will bring you right back in. The only reasons we have Evarus dresses is because one of the carriages delivering the dresses ended up here and couldn't leave." Alabaster explained as he walked closer to Aya. "This place is very nice though. You will love living here." Alabaster assured, offering his hand. "Let me lead you to your guest rooms. You can get ready and I can show you that this place is better than any city in the world."

"You can try and leave but the mist will bring you right back in." That phrase just pissed Aya off.

"I'm sorry Alabaster, but...." Aya suddenly said, looking over to Veran.

Veran pulled the letter from the Queen from his pocket, handing it over to Alabaster.

Why did she think Alabaster would let her go that easily? Since he was in their grasp now, it was better not to let him go and get as many answers as possible. God forbid Samael or Wulfric come looking for her.

"Not only do I run a clothing line, but I also do some business with the Queen. I was sent here to make sure that these knights were alive, and if they don't come back to her, it will be on my fault. The Queen needs those knights, at least the ones who haven't settled down. She cares for all of her workers, and is very very worried. Me and some knights need to go back, so the Queen will not be worried anymore." Aya was careful with her words, she didn't know what kind of reaction she would get out of Alabaster.

No matter it though, Veran could probably cut through the mist.

Alabaster took the note in his hands and read it. If he was trying to keep his emotions under control, then he was doing an amazing job while at it. He smiled at Aya. "Ah, I would have guessed this would have happened. The knights said something about this to. But the thing is that we can't leave." Alabaster insisted, handing back the letter. He walked over to the nearest window and opened it, showing off the town, and the ominous mist in the horizon. "This mist has been covering this town for a whole year now, and as much as anyone has tried to leave, it always brings them back. Even you and mister Veran. You can try and travel through the mist if you want. Be my guest." Alabaster said as he frowned and looked back out the window. "Besides. They're all happy here. One of them wants to marry a single mother to who's child loves him. Others are getting the chance of a new beginning." Alabaster insisted, playing with his fingers. "Even Veran feels more human in this town that he has before, don't you, mister Veran?"

That phrase put Veran on edge. More human? Did Alabaster know?

"What do you mean by that?" Veran chuckled, his pupils turning to Aya.

Aya glanced back at Veran, then her eyes turning to Alabaster.

"Why do you think the mist arrived?" she then asked, going over to stand beside Alabaster.

Aya at least had to come back with one knight, but if they all wanted to stay, there was nothing she could do. She could not move them by force. Just what was going on in this town?

Alabaster shrugged. "The town was small, and dying out. People were moving. When my dad died the mist came. It prevented us from leaving and brought the town together. Maybe the mist came in to keep us together. Since my dad died I've been feeling so lonely. Now the people are all together and feeling happy. There isn't a single bad bone in this town. No sickness. No sadness. Everyone is happy and living comfortably. Maybe the mist is to keep this place safe." Alabaster said as he looked up at Veran smiling. "You're not human. I can tell. The moment you stepped in. You've felt odd since the moment you arrived. Have you've yet tried to see if you can control your bleeding?...once you enter here no matter who you are, you are human, mister Veran." Alabaster said rather calmly, not posing a threat, but simply stating a truth. He took Aya's hand gently. "Are you hungry?" Alabaster asked. Suddenly, a chandelier appeared, and behind Aya and Veran, a large table filled with steaming food of all kind that obviously wasn't there before.

Veran was dumbfounded.

"What." he stuttered.

Aya looked over at Veran, he was suddenly pale, probably realizing why he couldn't sense anything.  He was shocked. It was quite funny, to Aya at least. Was this boy magic or something?

"So he did know..." Veran sighed, looking at the food on the table.

He was...well starving, but human food wouldn't fill up what he desired.

Aya pulled her hand away, picking up a fork, as it wouldn't hurt him as bad. If Veran really was bleeding, this wouldn't hurt him.

Even though this place was a place with no sickness, sadness, or anything like that, Aya and Veran wouldn't accept it. Aya quickly turned her heels around, charging the fork right at Veran, him stopping it with his left palm, but sure enough, to Veran's alarm, it began bleeding, a lot more than usual. The white gloves palm suddenly dyed red, Veran actually wincing at the pain of the utensil's impact.

Aya quickly pulled the instrument out, looking at the blood that was seeping through Veran's glove. What a way to spoil the mood.

Veran's eyes traced up Aya, a rather dirty glare on his face. Veran was angry. At Aya? It appeared so.

Veran didn't feel that much against her while he was still a demon, but he was in fact a human here. There contract didn't work here. Nothing he had worked here. He was completely under no control, and could defy Aya.

Aya stepped back.

"I-I was just checking..." she muttered, frightened by the stare.

Veran had never looked at Aya like that before. His emotions were rather out of control. What had this boy done to him?

Alabaster pursed his lips. Mister Veran was human in this paradox. Which meant not only did he not had his powers. He wasn't a demon anymore. Alabaster quickly walked over and stood in front of Aya. "Even if you try and harm her there is a high chance she won't die. No one dies here. It's...better this way." Alabaster explained, walking over to Veran. He gripped his bleeding hand. "The real world can be cruel, can't it, mister Veran? Now that you feel more human, you don't know what to feel. Because either you had never felt like this before, or you felt like this in such a long time before that you had forgotten how it feels like it." Alabaster siad. His words were smooth as he pulled his hands away, the bleeding gone, a simple scar left behind as if it had happened months ago. He looked over at the table and smiled at Veran. "You feel hungry too, right? Try and eat one of these. Tell me if it eases you." Alabaster asked as he smiled at him. He looked over ay Aya with a worried look. "If you to wish to leave...then I'll allow you, you know." Alabaster said as he walked over to the window again. "I can even convince some of the knights to leave with you. But I'm just scared of being lonely, you know. So I give them everything that they could possibly want so they will want to stay." Alabaster explained as he smiled. "You can stay here and live whatever life you want. Do you want to be a queen? We can build you a castle. Do you want to be human? You can be human here, Veran." Alabaster looked down, feeling a bit guilty. "I didn't mean for you two, or for anyone to feel any pain or to feel uncomfortable...but when he died. When Alabaster died. I had no friends left...I wanted to live like he did...with all of them. They aren't pain. They're happy! So it isn't bad...right?"

"I don't want to be a human." Veran said, almost with a child-like tone.

He was like a kid complaining about what was put in front their face for dinner.

Veran, however spoke true to his word. He did not want to be a human. Sure, life as a demon was aggravating, but life as a human was worse. He felt...vulnerable. His power was stripped from him. He was mortal like this.

"I also do not want to be a Queen. I already have a hard time keeping up with my responsibilities now as a Viscountess, but as a Queen, it would be even harder." Aya admitted.

They didn't want to stay there.

"We don't want to be here Alabaster." she said truthfully.

Alabaster started rambling, about how he was lonely, and then...spoke of Alabaster...like he wasn't himself.

"I understand what is is like for you to be lonely....but I cannot stay here. I have responsibilities, a clothing line to run, and people I care about..." Aya walked a bit closer to Alabaster.

"I don't really understand why they are all happy, but it has to be because of you. They all like you Alabaster." she held his hand close to her.

Meanwhile, Veran just sat down, things rushing though his head. He barely remembered what it was like. He had not felt chill in the air in a long time, he had not smelled the scent of real food in a long time, he had not felt so many emotions in such a long time. Above all the emotions, Veran was scared. Someone as stone as him was practically terrified. If Aya was able to make him bleed so easily, just think about what else could happen. He would require sleep in this form, he would require food in this form, he would require care in this form. Veran had not had human food since the day he actually died. He only slept to pass time, and never really felt the feeling of being awake. He had not felt the feeling of summer heat, the trill of a storm, or the frost of the snow.

There were positive things about a human form. He would be able to feel actual happiness, to feel love, and to feel sorrow...however it was something he did not want to do. Why be a mortal being when you could be a powerful one?

Alabaster looked at Aya and smiled. "Thank you. Well...you guys can leave. I can allow you to leave. But the Knights have to stay. They can't go back. It's been too long." Alabaster explained as he looked around and looked back at Aya. "If I let you go, I need to tell you that anyone who comes here and tries to destroy this place will end up the same way. Anyone who stumbles upon here will end up becoming part of this world with me. Happy every day!" Alabaster said happily as he tilted his head. "If I let you leave, will you let me keep my world...or would I have to let everyone go?" Alabaster asked while pouting. He didn't want to let them go. They were all happy and they celebrated parties and birthdays. They played and ate yummy food and there was never bad weather. It was a perfect town. A perfect home. He wanted to keep it that way. "If I let you go you have to tel the Queen that if she keeps sending Knights that they will end up staying. You can ome visit me any time though! Maybe you'll reach an age where you will want to stay, so this place is lways open for you and mister Veran." Alabaster said as he held Aya's hand. "Are you sure you want to leave and find out the truth of this place, Aya?"

"It's my job, Alabaster. Even if the truth is harsh, it is something people have to accept." Aya said, staring practically through his soul.

"We'll make sure to block up the place, so nobody can leave and nobody can come in." Veran finally spoke up.

"What can I do for you before I leave?" Aya then asked, petting the boys head.

"Even if the Queen isn't too happy with me, I am positive she will understand and appreciate my efforts if I close up the town from the mist on the other side." she said sincerely.

"I will be back to normal on the other side on the mist, won't I?" Veran honestly just wanted to get out of this place as soon as he possibly could.

"I will let you keep your world Alabaster. Just let me know what I can do for you in the time we have here for the moment." Veran stood slowly, walking over to Aya's side.

Alabaster smiled and got his hands behind his back. "All I want you to do is for you to try to keep the property around the mist out of bounds from people. Other than that...visit me some time! We can have parties and stuff!" Alabaster said with a giggle. He looked up at Veran. "Yeah. You'll return back to normal. The explination why you're human here is a bit simple yet a bit complicated. Actually, when you get out, tell the Grim Reaper that's hanging around the outside of the mist that he isn't getting in. He can explain what is happening, exactly, too." Alabaster said. He smiled at Aya and kissed her forehead. He then got his hands over Aya's eyes. "The way for you two to get out of here...""...is to wake up!"And so Aya and Veran woke up. Their carriage in the middle of a somewhat misty, abandoned town. Aya still inside, as if she had never left the carriage. The town was abandoned. In pieces. The buildings falling apart as others were covered in nature or not there at all. Overgrown vegetation everywhere. All around the carriage, at least in the area, were corpses. Some were near to become nothing but skeletal remains, others fresh enough to be just a month old. They wore different clothing, from all paths of life. Including the knights that had been brough here throug duty. They were released from the slumber of the town. All they had to do was simply...walk away. Outside the mist sat Gigermo, sitting against a tree as he glared at the mist. The magic in it, he couldn't penetrate it. It was annoying.

Aya blushed slightly as Alabaster kissed her forehead, Veran feeling a bit jealous.

"Thank you Alabaster." Aya said right before his hands were placed over her eyes.

She wasn't even able to say a proper goodbye before the spell-like state was broken, and she woke up.

Aya practically broke through the carriage door, tripping as she did so, about to hit the ground when Veran caught her quickly. He was able to move faster, and he didn't feel as weird as he did before. His proper senses were back, and the stone-like Veran was back.

Aya looked up at him as she was caught in his arms.

"I'm sorry!!" she said instantly.

Veran gently placed her down.

"I would like to apologize myself." he said honestly.

Aya was starving, cold, and knew they just needed to get out. How long had they been here?

"We need to get out." Veran said seriously, Aya going to sit in front with Veran instead of getting in the carriage portion.

The horses were surprisingly okay, and started getting along, turning around and going back into the mist.

Gigermo heard noises. He looked up, watching as the carriage emerged from the mist, back to the real world. "No way!" Gigermo jumped down, landing on the roof of the carriage as he looked over at Veran. "You were able to go in there?! Tell me you didn't eat all the souls?!" Gigermo asked as he seemed annoyed and worried at the same time. He glared at the mist. The mist is a barrier against Grim Reapers. I can't get in. I can't even touch it." Gigermo said as he looked over at Veran. He paused and tilted his head. "You did see souls in there, right? That's all there is in there. Souls trapped within the mist. Because of this I need to do extra work in order to make up for the souls I can't collect! If you ate any of them I'm going to be so angry with you, Veran!" Gigermo hissed. He peeked down, looking at Aya. "How were the souls? Were they chained up or something? I have to report something to mu superiors, you know!" Gigermo insisted. From afar, beyond the mist and among the forest...something, someone watched them.

"I don't touch such undesirable souls." Veran said bluntly, leaping off the carriage and helping Aya down.

"In fact I barely noticed there were souls there." He muttered.

"You don't want to go in there. It causes you to go in some...dream like state. Your real body stays here, and is damaged, but you can't escape the dream unless you get a hold of the spirit in time. A spirit from the soul of a boy named Alabaster. He controls the dream I guess....that's all I could really gather." Aya warned.

"You'll also loose all of your abilities in there. I was...well human in there for a while...I didn't realize it until it was pointed out but..." Veran just got quiet.

"There was nothing in there. Just a whole bunch of bodies...including those of the Queen's knights." Veran shook his head, informing Gigermo of the matter.

"I promised the spirit I would barricade it. Since you can't go though it at all...do you think some reapers would do it? It is your job to protect the souls, right?" Aya asked, winking at Gigermo.

Plus, that would take the work away from them.

Gigermo blinked a few times and thought, humming as he crossed his arms. "Well, it would definitely make my work easier...I could finally move on and reap other souls!" Gigermo paused and looked at Aya, smiling. "Very well. I'll tell my superiors about the situation, and suggest the solution of simply bordering off the area one way or another." Gigermo said as he smiled at Aya and petted her head. "Alright! I'll put up a momentary barrier until my superiors can handle this professionally." Gigermo then pulled out his battle axe, which was just as big as his own body. He waved at Veran and at Aya. "You two shoo off. If we happen to recover the bodies then we'll let you know~" Gigermo said as he walked past Veran, stopping to glanced to the side. "How did it felt, to be human? Did it felt good, or did you feel scared to finally be the prey instead of the predator?" Gigermo asked, whispering at Veran almost seductively, but with a more obvious intent of making Veran think or get him angry. And so, he walked away.

"Thank you Gigermo." Aya said kindly to the reaper, smiling at him.

Reapers were much nicer than demons were.

Veran's eyes shot at Gigermo. Scared the be the prey? Veran's eyes traced Aya's back as she walked to the carriage. She was his prey. Was she scared of him? Did she really want this?

Aya sat in front with Veran again, Aya waving goodbye to Gigermo.

With a flick of the reigns, the two headed back to the Everus mansion, wondering how long they had actually been gone.

It was still day by the time they arrived back at the Evarus mannor. They had merely been gone for a few hours. However the one detail was that Samael's carriage was parked by the driveway. As they arrived the door opened, Wulfric running out on his fours as he ran to the carriage to greet the two. "AYA~ VERAN~" Wulfric said as he ran up to the carriage and sat down by it. "Someone came to see you, Aya!" Wulfric sid as Samael followed. His cheeks were blushed, in his hands a bouquet of flowers as he seemed pretty nervous as he approached Aya. "Hey, Aya. Welcome back. You caught me just arriving. Haha..." Samael said as he pursed his lips. "I was going to leave these flowers for you. But since you're here early...I was wondering..." Samael began, a single sweatdrop dripping from his temple as the bouquet shook slightly in his hands. "Well, I mean, if you want. I was hoping to go to the park today and well...maybe you would like to come with me?" Samael asked, his face pink as his knees shook. "They just added these cute boats you can ride on around the lake. We can feed the pigeons too, and we can talk about the collab while at it if you're interested."

Veran perked up upon seeing Samael at the manor. Where they really not gone long?

Aya leaped out of the carriage before it even came to a stop, Veran pulling the reigns tightly, a servant coming out to take care of the carriage.

Aya ran up to Samael.

"Thank God I get to see you." Aya was not hesitant about hugging him, even if it was a bit impolite.

She made sure not the crush the flowers....the flowers??

She then realized the Samael was blushing intensely...was nervous...and then...said it.

Did he just ask her out on a date? That question rushed through Aya's mind.

He did. A date at the park in town.

Aya froze up, a blush now apparent on her face.

"We can also talk about what happened on the mission. I will happily accept." Aya smiled at Samael, both of them extremely embarrassed.

"However I would like to know something first." Veran intruded.

"How long were me and Aya gone." He insisted on knowing.

Samael smiled as his eyes began spinning in happiness. Wulfric stepped up to answer the question. "You were gone for around five hours and thirty minutes!" Wulfric said as he looked up to Veran. He smiled and walked around him, nudging him. "Though you should focus on helping Aya get ready! She has a date impending, doesn't she? You better get our master in her prettiest dress and shoes!" Wulfric insisted as he walked over to Samael and got his hands on his shoulders. "I'll wait with you for Aya by the doorway~" Wulfirc said as he dragged an already hypnotized Samae to wait. From a distance, just at the edge of the property, stood Alexander, hiding in a bush. When Samael had confessed to him that he wanted to tale Aya on a date, he wanted to scream. But how could he say no when Samael was giving him the puppy eyes and dreamy look? Darn it. The most he could do is hope that Veran would accept working as a team to watch over their masters for the date. From even more afar, a small bird sat on a branch of a tree, a mechanical bird sat, watching over the property as its eyes zoomed in on the group, giving view to someone from far away in someplace else."This is interesting. This could possibly be the first time the demon could possibly be pushed away from the little girl." A voice spoke, looking down at a piece of glass as it worked on something mechanical on the side. "Take this as a chance. She is quite troublesome, just like her father. So it would be wise to make sure that she also dies in a tragic...accident. You know, before she starts to get in our way." The voice spoke, sounding rough and screechy, like nails against a chalkboard. "Please do it for me.""Of course. The demon will be much too late by the time I am done."

"Five hours and thirty minutes..." Veran muttered.

There were not gone for a long time, it just felt like so. Aya was probably hungry, and Veran could make a hell of a picnic for the two.

The maids lead Aya inside to get dressed in a picnic like dress, leaving Veran and Samael alone.

"Are you guys picnicking?" he then asked, eyeing the boy like he was prey.

Veran personally did not want Samael to touch Aya in any way shape or form.

The two waited outside for a bit until Aya came out of the manor, a parasol in hand and all dressed in ready. Veran smiled softly, going behind Aya and adjusting the bow in the back of her hair and tightening the corset backing on her dress a bit tighter, making the tie a beautiful bow. She wore sheer white tights and sax blue shoes that pulled the outfit together.

Aya's eyes traced over to Samael, her hair down. A white medical-type eye patch covered her sealed eye, it did not obstruct the beauty of her outfit though.

Samael blinked at Veran and nodded innocently. "Yeah! We'll walk around the park and take a trip on a rowboat and eat there. Today they're having a special event for the migration of the butterflies. Hopefully we'll be able to see them emerge from the trees and take flight to the sky!" Samael said happily. If he noticed how Veran was looking at him, or simply was too dense to realize it, it wouldn't matter as Aya came back, looking absolutely beautiful. Samael's heart skipped a beat, his jaw dropping. oh dear. He smiled softly, his cheeks flushing. "Aya, you look absolutely gorgeous! I mean, you always look gorgeous..." Samael chuckled. He cleared his throat and offered his hand. "W-Well, let's go. We can go in my carriage if you want." Samael said with a smile. He offered to help Aya up the carriage. Wulfric sniffed the air and quickly whispered to Veran. "Alexander's over there, you know." Wulfric whispered, pointing at a bush. By this point he had leaves in his hair to blend in.

Aya took Samael's hand, her blushing at Samael's comments.

"Thank you Samael. I'm sure it will be beautiful." Aya commented, the two sitting right beside each other in the carriage. It was a tight space and they were rather close.

Veran looked at Wulfric, nodding his head slightly, Alexander was trying to hide.

"Alexander." Veran spoke up, seeing right though his pitiful disguise.

"Our masters are going on....a "date" together. It is best we keep our eyes on them without hiding in bushes. If you want to learn how to be in disguise, you'll listen to me." Veran insist.

Veran practically dragged Alexander out of the bushes, pulling a leaf out of the man's hair.

"Pitiful." He mocked, then getting up front into Rhode carriage.

Alexander would have to drive though.

Alexander glared. "Screw you! You are the one who told me that I shouldn't stay close to Aya!" Alexander hissed, crawling on top of the carriage as he gripped the reigns. "If your 'lady' tries to lay a hand on my master, you'll be getting that soul early." Alexander threatened. He hurried for the horses to proceed, following the couple all the way to the city. Aya and Samael reached the park, stepping down at the entrant as Samael helped Aya down. "Today's absolutely beautiful." Samael said in awe, taking out a lace parasol and hovering it over Aya, avoiding direct and blinding sunlight. "Shall we begin?" Samael asked smiling, walking with Aya into the already rather lively park. It was filled mostly with families with children, which children were taking part in activities including a small petting zoo and other activities. It wold be both easy, and hard for Veran and Alexander to spy on their masters without looking suspicious.

As soon as Aya and Samael walked into the park, they were powerless against their masters. Veran let out a heaved sigh as he watched the two walk off.

"I won't be getting Aya's soul until her revenge against her uncle is fulfilled." Veran let Alexander know, the two standing in the park gates.

"Don't be so scared about Aya touching Samael in any way, up until a couple of years ago she could barely stand the presence of a male." he reminded Alexander.

"We need to disguise ourselves if we want to watch them from a safe distance." He then muttered, looking at Alexander closely.

He noted the man's ponytail.

"I have an idea."

On the other hand, Aya was visibly a little nervous about being alone with Samael, as she has really never gone on a "date" before.

"It is beautiful here..." she kind of mindlessly said.

The lake reflected the sunlight as some boats were already out, children watching the fish in the water as some ducks swam over the lake.
