The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted December 26, 2015 Copy and pasted from the post I made on a thread started by @Cubiyo Remember licensing issues?! The original DDD never came out on a microsoft platform. No KH game has come out on a microsoft platform, how would TWEWY and FF characters that only originally appeared on Sony and Nintendo Platforms be allowed to come to a Microsoft platform? It would be a licensing nightmare and would have delayed 1.5 and 2.5 which would've delayed KH3 as well as 2.8.Nomura probably got permission for KH3 to be on Xbox One since KH3 will rank in more money overall than 1.5 2.5 and 2.8. No way they'd miss out on an opportunity like that, since Xbox One has more games geared towards children than the PS4 does. Thus disney appeal of KH3 would rake in money on Xbox One since it has a much younger audience than the PS4. Disney infinity is on the xbox one and 360 and are quite popular so disney properties aren't a problem, but FF properties are a bit of a hassle. 1 irinasi reacted to this

Nomura said so in a few interviews he has done. Licensing may be another reason, but the simple and actual answer is the refusal to delay KH3 any longer. 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
Sora96 17,256 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Kingdom Hearts Final Mix cannot be released on Xbox platforms due to a contract Square as a company had with Sony at the time. Hence why Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster was not released on Xbox 360 or Xbox One. Unless Sony paid them (which is highly unlikely) there's no excuses for 2.5 & 2.8 to not be on Xbox platforms. There is no character licensing issues. The fact Cloud is in Smash Bros. is proof of that. KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted December 26, 2015 there's no excuses for 2.5 & 2.8 to not be on Xbox platforms. The excuse is doing anything else to any title, such as adding content or putting it on another console too, would delay KH3. You recall interviews he has done and has said so. Anything extra done to any other KH title would delay KH3.
Endless Thundaga 533 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Why exactly would people want Kingdom Hearts on PC? What's with all the "make every game on PC" stuff? Yet again, I'm not a PC person, so maybe that's why, lol. Edited December 26, 2015 by Khdude

Could say the exact same thing about x[chi], Unchained and back cover. 3 versions of the same game that just makes the storyline even more crazy. Cancel them and 2.8 would be out months earlier and so would KH3 in the end. Why exactly would people want Kingdom Hearts on PC? What's with all the "make every game on PC" stuff? Or in some cases, someone might have an Xbox, Nintendo platform or older platform/s and PC. 1 Dio Brando reacted to this

So alas, Nomura does not have much control over time to complete a task quickly. Besides, why cancel now if the ship already sailed a long time ago? Square Enix will do whatever Square Enix will do.

Unchained and Back Cover are both BD3 with Back Cover by the Osaka studio. I'm not commenting on localization here, and that was likely me. I've said Square Enix take forever to localize mobile games. http://kh13.com/forum/topic/84485-square-enix-business-divisions/

I think it's just not ready yet. This type of game would be a pain to localize. They have multiple other mobile titles like this they're localizing right now too. KH fans who were there from the start will always prefer playing KH on the Playstation (just like Halo fans would prefer playing Halo on a Xbox console if it should ever release for a Playstation console) and the fact that the series had its debut on a Playstation console strengthens that. And as a long time fan why would you decide to play KHIII on the Xbox One all of a sudden if you know that the PS4 has more KH titles than just KHIII? Yet again, I'm not a PC person, so maybe that's why, lol. I would like KH games on PC. When I was younger and my parents couldn't afford to buy me a GBA, I pirated Chain of Memories and played it on PC. Other games like the DS and PS2 games also work on PC, and the dedication that it takes to get those games working shows that there is a large audience of people who want to play KH games on PC. Whether they would pay for them is another story, but JRPGs are popular on Steam so I imagine many people do care.
Sora96 17,256 Posted December 27, 2015 I see. But alas, the shipped has sailed and no point cancelling KHUX and XBC now. Alas it's Nomura making the series even more messed up and delaying KH3 even more. They take longer then a simple port to similar console. Just out of sheer curiosity, are there any sources that proves that Kingdom Hearts 1 and Kingdom Hearts 2 were contractually set in stone to be a Sony exclusive? Kingdom Hearts II is fine. It was years after the merger. You can look it up. They had some exclusivity contract as a whole company with Sony before the merger it made developing for GameCube impossible. Someone might have chosen Xbox for franchises like Halo and Gears of War. Sony lost a lot of users last gen. Your reasoning makes the Xbox One port of KH3 pointless, a waste of resources and money. 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

Quite a pity the damage has been done already. I guess after KH3 will they start going multi console and on Microsoft.
