Toominator 916 Posted December 25, 2015 (edited) Apparently, something is going wrong with Steam and it is allowing people access to users' wallet/purchase history. Until further notice, stay off Steam and do not click links that lead to Steam. I'll update when more information is released. Edit 1: It allows you to see: account name, email, last 2 digits of card, current steam wallet fund, purchase history, security If you wish, you may unlink your PayPal from Steam but do NOT do it via Steam, do it via PayPal instead. Edit 2: It is a caching issue, meaning that ANYTHING having to do with Steam will put you at risk, from opening Steam, to playing games, to clicking links to the Store. Just stay off Steam until everything is sorted out. Edit 3: The issues have been resolved. No known unauthorized transactions were made during this, so that's a good sign. Weedanort 8,786 Posted December 25, 2015 What about playing games? Is that compromised as well?
Toominator 916 Posted December 25, 2015 What about playing games? Is that compromised as well? Anything involving steam. It's a caching issue, not a security breach 1 Weedanort reacted to this
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted December 25, 2015 Well, it appears that Steam servers are down, because my client won't connect.
Javelin434 3,164 Posted December 25, 2015 I've been contacted by a friend here on the site via steam, and I have no clue if it's compromised or not. What's the scope of the breach? Because account name, email, last 2 digits of card, current steam wallet fund, purchase history, security sounds like normal access privileges to me... I think as long as you are not on your own account or you didn't click anything they sent you, you should be fine

Again though, I don't see how all those you listed would be considered a breach. Now if they can see my full credit card number or make purchases off of it, then I would be afraid... Exiblade7 1,917 Posted December 25, 2015 does this affect anybody who just joined steam recently and didn't purchase anything on steam too?
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) does this affect anybody who just joined steam recently and didn't purchase anything on steam too? Everyone. If you didn't purchase anything you should be fine though. Just stay offline. (though servers are down so you have no choice anyway) Edited December 26, 2015 by MythrilMagician
