SUBJECT: OPERATION FREAK SHOW CIRCUS

Upon the review of recent reports of a rise in criminal activity of supernatural and mortal origin, the proposal of protocol FREAK SHOW CIRCUS has been approved by the UN through the majority vote. Upon further approval the world leaders have signed down upon the contract for the operation, which remains hidden within an undisclosed location, to proceed with the operation. Along with this the nations have also signed to a code of silence where such knowledge of the protocol is to remain hidden from public knowledge outside of high security personnel. The following is a recording of an unnamed individual with personal connections to the protocol.

 

“…Hello. My name is [bEEP]. I am here to tell you about protocol FREAK SHOW CIRCUS. Originally the leaders of the nations had turned down the protocol, but after the recent rise in supernatural and mortal crime, we had no other choice. Now you might be wondering about why I said the word ‘Supernatural’. Well it is because the crimes are indeed, of supernatural origin. The legends of creatures of the nights, the boogie man, the monster in the closet, the vampires and werewolves and so on. Though not always as the media portrays them…they are all real, and living

among us in this world we call home. Where I to mention all of the myths that are actually reality I would never reach an end. To make it easier, consider everything that you’ve ever heard to be true or at least near to it.

 

Now that you understand that they exist, you may also understand the situation of security. Usually each government is assigned to their own problems within their country to deal with their own crimes. However due to the shortage of ‘willing supernatural employees’ on hand, there is only so much each can do to keep it in control. In the end protocol FREAK SHOW CIRCUS, code-named CIRCUS was suggested, a protocol applying to all countries of the world in hopes of keeping the world’s security under control. The protocol is an organization created to deal with these crimes, and bring balance to the world. The organization divides itself as well as disguises themselves as Circuses, allowing them to travel across the land without suspicion. Each circus has a name, and a ringmaster that receives orders from higher ups that they must fulfill.

 

The Circus itself composed of humans, supernatural creatures, and as the name applies, Freak Show worthy abominations with gifted powers. Now you are wondering why this not was suggested much earlier. Well…it is because of the moral rules that do not apply within the circus itself. As you can guess the job is dangerous, and though some join willingly for protection and a place to call home, there aren’t enough to satisfy the need of members to keep the circuses working. Therefore, members are usually taken in unwillingly…and forcibly changed in order to make them properly fitted to work for the circus. Usually incarcerated surgeons of the highest and yet disturbing abilities have been released to join the circus in order to deform such new members. Unless you have abilities on your own, you will most likely be deformed to join the Freak Show part of the circus, gifted abilities in exchange of a new face to call your own.

 

If you’re still in doubts, let me clarify. Yes. We do kidnap some of our members, and we do forcibly make them stay. Admission is permanent and the only way to leave is through a successful escape or termination. Not like they have much of a choice. After being deformed they have no other place to go. We understand that it is immoral, and that it is what could be considered the worst of crimes…but for the sake of the world, we have no choice. So yes, the secret organization that is meant to keep the world safe is made up of sins that we could never be forgiven if there is indeed a judgment after death. Ironic really. But if you’re hearing this…it also means that you are currently in part of joining such organization for life. If you are joining willingly, we thank you for your bravery and service, and welcome you. If you are joining unwillingly, we thank you for your bravery and service…

In a world where the supernatural and reality collide, Protocol FREAK SHOW CIRCUS is a protocol created to become the Supernatural Police of the world and keep balance between the immortal and the mortal, tracking down criminals of all sorts and fix the problem. The Protocol is made up of multiple circuses that travel performing for audiences to be able to avoid suspicion while doing their work. Each circus has a name, and cast made up of humans, gifted humans, supernatural beings and deformed beings. The circuses are known to kidnap and deform people that they see might have potential, and force them to join the circus willingly or not. Whether you will die doing your job or die trying to escape it, it doesn’t really matter. This Circus is your home, and the members your family. For admission is permanent, and your only way out is through death’s door. After all, we have a government seal protecting us. There are no rules. Everything goes.

 

FAQ:

• What supernatural creatures exist?

Every possible. From myths, legends, creepypastas, the personification of holidays, all of them exist. This also includes locations, such as El Dorado and Atlantis and so on. They either live among humans, away from them, or in between. Some join the circuses in order to be protected under a government seal, which means they are protected by humans and government itself.

 

• How many circuses are there?

The definite number is unknown, however the main circus of this story is known as the Dark Woods Circus. If you wish to create a circus of your own and follow your own story within the RP, be my guest.

 

• What kind of characters can we be?

Human Staff (Cooks, normal helpers, doctors/surgeons, humans remaining human because they are useful)

Gifted Human (These humans are gifted in something. Agility, fighting style, beast taming, etc.)

Supernatural Creatures

Supernatural Human (These are humans born with supernatural abilities)

Deformed Human (Humans deformed in order to be gifted with supernatural abilities. Their abilities usually have to do with their given deformity.)

 

• Explain more about the Deformity and abilities?

When a human is kidnapped, unless they show a special gift of their own or willingly volunteer to be part of human staff, they are deformed. The process not only changes their appearance, but they also gain inhuman abilities that vary depending on what the surgeon has done to them, their abilities usually relating to their deformity. Example would be if you are given multiple arms, you would be a good sword fighter or of the sorts. If something was done to your legs, you may be a fast runner, or jumper. Maybe you’re gifted with the ability to breathe underwater. The possibilities are seemingly endless.

 

• What do the doctors do?

As implied most doctors hired into the circus had been incarcerated or put on death row due to crimes involving medical advancement. Such abilities are useful in the deformation of new comers. Other than deforming new comers to gift them, they act as general doctors for the staff. They also keep a second pair of eyes watching over the staff for any activity if the Ringmaster is busy.

 

• Who is the Ringmaster?

He or She is the leader of the Circus. They receive the orders from above, and then gives the orders to those below them. Ringmasters are usually selected for their role due to their immense strength or experience with working in supernatural crimes. It is rumored most are supernatural beings themselves, however no one knows what kind.

 

• How is the Circus?

Use your imagination, but if it helps, imagine it as a normal circus but with not so normal staff. You sleep in set up tents when settled down and travel from location to location. When not performing or given a mission, you have free reign to explore as long as you return. Fights and events such as birthdays are casual, and eventually even the coldest members warm up to their fellow members as family. Sometimes you will be sent on a mission while the circus itself is performing, keeping the town busy to keep them away from harm.

 

• What is the goal in the circus/what do you do in the circus?

As a member you are obliged to do whatever your position requires you to do. Whether it would be to perform or help setting up the tent and so on. Other than that the circus will provide the members with missions that they must accomplish. These missions are usually detective work and solving crimes, most cases involving fighting as well. You can do these missions in groups or solo.

Circus Rules:

• This is a circus, when it is your turn to perform, you perform.
• When not on mission you are allowed to wonder and do your own investigations and whatnot around the town as long as you return. If you do not return members will be sent out to find you.
• We are all family. You can fight, you can do whatever, but try your best to refrain from murdering anyone.
• Any escape attempts will be punished heavily.

However her powers of being able to communicate with spirits from this world and beyond didn't go unnoticed, and she was forcibly made to join the Circus. She doesn't have any hatred, and is actually rather cheerful. However, she does feel pity for others who are forced against their will, and is the first to console them once they arrive.

Abilities: He shares a connection with his minion, being able to see through it, thus able to see through his eye so to say.  He’s able to send this minion throughout the nearby area, about a mile or so, in order to spy and locate particular people…  In emergency situations, he’s also able to transform this minion into different weapons, although this damages it, thus limiting its potential for about a day’s time until it’ll be ready to be used again.

 

Job/Position:  He’s the prospector, one of the individuals whom locate particular humans, whether they already have particular talents or whether… they will soon.

 

Performance: He plays a mean harmonica during intermissions.

 

Bio:  He’s been in the darkwood circus for about a decade now.  Thus, if he did have a past, he sure doesn’t remember it now, or at least that’s what he tells people…

I guess freak since gifted human is for more regular abilities... Also do you have to be deformed if you have a supernatural ability? Just curious. I understand it that the doctors deform you if you look human to meet the ability you have.

Gender: Male

Appearance: Gained webbed hands and feet, gills along his neck, a greenish tint to his now paler skin, sharpened teeth, and is bald. Oh, and he typically only wears a black tank top and shorts with a speedo underneath.

Abilities: Underwater breathing, as well as a major boost in speed and agility whilst in the water. He's also great with a dagger, whether in or out of water.

Job/Position: With his get-up? Yeah, he's a performer.

Performance: He's basically gonna play fish. He'll be brought out in pretty large tub of water with a lid to cover it all. He'll be set off to the side while a rather long performance is going on. He'll then be brought up again, where the length of time he was in there will be noted. He will then be fed a large piece of tough meat, where he will tear it apart as a lion would it's prey. (If you would like something a bit more entertaining, please let me know. But for this character, this is all I can come up with at the moment.)

Bio: Fred was a professional swimmer. All throughout his mid-20's, he'd been winning award after award in competitive swimming competitions. Heck, he's even once won an Olympic medal, too. Though soon after he won that, he had retired from swimming. It was fun for him while it lasted, but he was done with it at that point.

 

Then he got kidnapped.

 

He was made an offer: Help these individuals chase down criminals, either supernatural or mortal. Fred just wanted to go home, and refused time after time. After enough of this, he was deformed. He had become a fishman, and was forced to help them anyways. Fred still hates what he has to do, but the pain has been dulled for him after a while.

Fun facts: He hates spicy food with a passion, and still loves swimming even if he isn't a professional anymore.

Appearance: Typical lab coat get-up with a black shirt and ragged jeans underneath, oily-black hair, odd-eyes(one brown one green), a very thin frame, and somewhat short. He also has scars all over his body, a few on his face even. And finally, he keeps a few of his mixtures in vials that he keeps beneath his coat.

Abilities: Very efficient in the ways of surgery and chemistry. He also is capable of using a gun. Not for bullets, but for easily blasting more of his mixtures at any sort of creature.

Job/Position: Doctor, though is also pretty handy in a fight if need be.

Bio: Cillan became a part of all this...somehow. He's injected himself with so many things so many times, that he has lost a lot of random memories, including how he exactly came to be a part of all of this. For all he knows, he kinda just showed up one day. Not that he minds. His job allows him to seek two of his favorite thrills: performing wicked surgical operations on people, and fighting supernatural creatures. He loves what he does, even to the point of it being crazy at times. Despite this, he will respect it when others tell him to not secretly do anything to them. Just, uh, just know that that doesn't mean he won't do anything without permission.

Fun facts: He will occasionally burst out laughing for no apparent reason, or if he's only lightly chuckling. He also has no concept of love nor sexuality.

Speaking of that, he is very sly, creepy, and very flirtatious to everyone and everything, especially humans. He loves to cause trouble and always prides himself in his tomfoolery. The city itself breathed life into his body and he felt that it was his life's goal to do the same in return. After learning that he and his parents would eventually move to the grand city, Victor grew up to become a young man and studies hard for the sake of his dream of becoming an artist. Although he was not as talented as some of his other friends, he would still try his best in order to make himself a part of Venice itself. Upon reaching his 19th birthday in 1587 however, things started to take a turn for the dark. Reports in the city started escalating about kidnappings and disappearances and on one unfortunate night, Victor himself bore witness to something gruesome. While on his way home where a supposed surprise party was waiting for him, the young man was assaulted by a man shrouded in darkness with piercing red eyes and blood running from his lip. It soon became apparent to Victor that this was no ordinary man, this was in fact a Vampire. A blood sucking demon that now had him in it's grasp. In his last ditch effort to save his own life, Victor pushed himself and the Vampire into one of the many canals while he had already been pierced by the Vampire's fangs. The result ended in the Vampire disappearing into the night and Victor himself being found the next day presumably dead. Waking to find that he was a dead man and everyone around him had believed that he was now deceased, Victor ran from the city, vowing to return day and find the person responsible for his "death". Now, over four hundred years later, Victor travels with the Dark Woods Circus as one of it's oldest members as he seemingly volunteered with no explanation for why. His motives and general motivation has changed greatly since he became immortal, but none know what his true intentions may be.

 

Fun facts: Even though he is a Vampire, he will not immediately burn to death in the Sun. However, prolonged exposure to UV Rays of light will cause his skin to burn and will require a considerable amount of time or blood for him to recover. Of course, as a Vampire Victor will require blood in order to survive but can go without it and remain sane for a week at the most. As his act is knife juggling, he will fuss over his knives and will not allow anyone else to touch them as he believes that the knife is a very delicate weapon that should only be handled by a master such as himself. But in the end, he's quite lazy and nonchalant about others. He's always friendly to the others in the circus so long as they don't pry into his long history lesson of a life.

Abilities: Can transform into a fox, human or fox human hybrid at will (Boy with fox ears and tail) Also can manipulate regular fire and cast it. Superior sense of smell and tracking skills.

Job/Position: Performer and somewhat investigator.

Performance: A part of a small magic act where he will transform from a boy into a fox. He also walks around the audience for the kids to pet, as well as will perform little dog show like tricks with a tamer. During investigations he is used for his cunning sense of smell, as well as superior tracking skills and speed.

Bio: His mother was a kitsune enchantress in Japan. The mother, Naiko, lived in great fear and hatred of human beings. She lived alone in a forest, enchanting all who came away from the forest. One day however, a man entered the forest in search to see the beautiful denizens so he could sketch them. This man had a heart of the purest gold, and as a result could not be enchanted by the kitsune. In an effort to force this man out of the forest, the kitsune seeked the man out. They met, and almost instantly they fell in love with the kitsune’s hatred for humans being long forgotten. They lived together in the forest and had a child. They raised this child with the utmost care however one day a group of hunters came to the woods in search of the mystical being that lived there. In desperation, the kitsune placed her baby son into a basket and into a river that led to the mainlands. She was found, and killed. It is unknown what happened to the father other than that he fought against the hunters, to which only a few managed to escape barely alive with no memories of what happened. The son was found and was placed in care, however as soon as his abilities were discovered Usuni was feared by those around him. He spent most of his time roaming the streets, hunting down small mice and other pesky animals in exchange for food and shelter from store owners. Finally he learned to control his abilities, and one day when he was nine years old after laying around on a bale of hay, Usuni snuck into a nearby circus that was performing. He was absolutely thrilled by the performances, but this thrill caused him to accidentally turn halfway into a fox. As a result he was captured, and forced to join. He wasn't pleased about being captured in a cat’s cage and being treated as a pet at first, however after everyone realized he was a boy too Usuni didn't really mind. He was so scatterbrained that he got over it pretty quickly.

Name: Sam Whimsur

Age: 14

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Abilities: Can travel between this world and the shadow dimension. As a result he can control shadows, and turn objects and himself into a shadow/enter the shadow dimension. He can also use objects/people and their shadows in the shadow dimension in order to view small clips of past events and memories.

Job/Position: Performer, somewhat investigator.

Performance: Sam turns into a small shadow to perform little puppet shows with other performers manipulating paper puppets in front of a light behind a curtain. He is the main character of the show, and will play many roles in his performance. Despite this, he will never show his face and if he does, Sam will wear a masquerade mask. He is sometimes called in to assist in investigations due to his ability to witness vague scenes of past events. He does not like helping in investigations.

Bio: Sam is a shy young boy. When he was a younger Sam would often visit the circus with his father. He was always enchanted by the performances. Sadly when he was only six years old his parents died in a car accident. As a result he was stuck living with his single aunt and his cousin. He always loved his cousin and was once close to him, however after Sam went to live with him his cousin later discovered Sam’s abilities and feared him. As a result, the cousin often treats Sam foul.. The fact that the aunt often mistreated him didn't make it any better. The circus was in town, and Sam went to go attempt to see it despite his aunt’s disapproval. He didn't have enough money for a ticket, and so he tried to sneak in by morphing into a shadow. He was successful in doing so. After the circus was over Sam tried to go backstage as a shadow to see the other performers. He grew tired for overexerting his abilities, and so fell out of the wall in front of a group of the performers. Despite the alarm of a random boy falling out of the wall, Sam told about himself in fear and ended up joining the circus. They didn't even need to kidnap him; he wanted to join. Two years later, Sam now loves those around him as his family.

-Sam loves root beer.

-Sam also loves Pokemon with his favorite being Greninja as well as any dark types.

-Sam often sneezes after being around the animals for too long.

-Sam enjoys funnel cakes.

Abilities:Can transform into a fox, human, or fox human hybrid at will. Also has the power to manipulate mystical fires and produce illusions. As far as physical abilities go, she has a superior sense of smell and is adept in tracking.
Job/Position: Performer and Hunter
Performance: The performance starts with a magical purple fire show, where Flaire summons and manipulates enchanted flames around the audience and herself. The audience is speechless as they begin to take in the beauty of the scenery. The scene suddenly changes when Flaire becomes engulfed flames. The audience becomes hysterical and horrified as Flaire pretends to flail and struggle to get the flames off. The lights dim and the flames around the audience disappers. In an explosion of purple flames, Flaire transforms into a fox to finish off her performance with little animal tricks. Flaire also serves as an investigator, using her smell and tracking skills to find clues as well as to hunt down fugitives. 
Bio: Flaire is a very mature serious young girl. She is the cousin to a younger Kitsune named Usuni, as her father is the older brother to Usuni's mother. Flaire's mother was killed when she was a young girl by another fox and, as a result, her father raised her by himself. She loves her father, however she gets very aggravated at how immature and silly her father often acts. One day her father disappeared and a mysterious group were rumored to have taken him. Flaire joined the circus after hearing rumors from fellow foxes about this mysterious group being apart of the circus. Upon further investigation, she discovered that this group is responsible for maintaining the the natural order of the supernatural and mundane. After discovering this, she wholeheartedly joined in order to challenge herself and give herself a good purpose. She does not like the doctors however.
