But why do it when he knew he expected for people to get upset?

He's a piece of shit troll that's why.

Not justifying it but i would give the guy a punch on the arm for being an ass and spoiling it

And I've heard worse, A guy at cosco beat up an old man for samples

who does that? anybody with common sense wouldn't have done that in front of about 100 people.

Someone betting money would do it without hessitation, maybe that was the case (eg: a friend told him that he would give him 30$ if he did that)

But policemen letting assaulters off the hook because the assault was "justifiable" is totally understandable.

no, I'm talking about the person who spoiled the movie for the people who were waiting to watch it.

I mean, the guy is a total douchebag ass hat for doing that and I think he definitely deserves getting a punch, but getting beaten by three guys into the ICU is a bit much. I wouldn't want those guys getting arrested for doing that, but they shouldn't have beaten a random guy over it. A punch and a shove out the cinema with a fine yeah, but ICU? Nah.

Still, that guy is a total piece of shit for doing that.

Both the person who spoiled the ending and the people who assaulted him are all really crazy. :P

You don't spoil a movie in front of 100 people who are about to watch it for the first time, even if some of them ignore you. You're asking for a whole lot of trouble.

And people, I know he spoiled it for you, but is violence the solution? Never, especially about something as casual as movies. I guess I can't fully blame you for defending your fandom, but like I said before, violence is never the answer to getting revenge on someone who does something like spoil a movie.

I'm somewhat of a Star Wars fan, but not to the point where I'd totally defend my liking of the movies by beating up people who troll. Only in Smash Bros can I do that.

In some ways I'm a hypocrite, but I can't change the past any longer. I can only improve my current self.

Rock on!

Although he very much so deserved it, the ICU is a bit too much. Still, the police are right for not arresting these people, spoiling something this big that they've probably waited and been hyping over being spoiled just minutes before you'll see it is just bullshit.

firetrucking Star Wars nerds. You don't assault a person into ICU and get off the hook. They should have at least be fined. If this were any other movie there probably would have been people actually dealing with this situation, but since it's Star Wars it gets a free pass.

If you make the conscious decision to act like a real-life internet troll, you pay the price.

Seriously, this is like a homophobe going to a homosexual pride parade, holding up a sign that says "All F*ggots Must Die", and then gets beat up for it. It's legitimately hard to feel sympathy for the guy regardless of the outcome.

Lol, I was planning on posting a topic about this.

All i can say is, 2 wrongs don't make a right, but DON'T freakin' do some returded crap that will guarantee you'll be busted... by nerds. That's just embarrassing.

While I'd say that the fans might have gone overboard by sending him to the ICU, the guy who ruined the movie for them was a complete jerk and it's completely understandable that fans would get pissed off at him. I'm still mad that I had the movie ruined for me. This is a movie that a lot of people have waited two years for (Even longer for those who just wanted a continuation of their favorite series). A jerk who decides to go and ruin an entire movie for these huge fans should have known he'd get something. He was asking for trouble.

Yeah, it's just because they like Star Wars. All "Star Wars nerds" are just violent, unreasonable ruffians. Just like how video games cause violence.

Not really, though. This same thing could have happened in other situations. Marvel/DC movies, story-focused video games, anything along those lines. Not all Star Wars nerds are going to beat someone half to death over a spoiler, but they'd definitely get mad.

I was hoping that this be satire. Unfortunately, when I checked the webpage and saw the International New York Times logo...

Same

Like, damn, this is pretty messed up. Not only do these dudes beat up the guy for five minutes, but the other people who were there were cheering them on for who knows how long. And the police don't even do a thing either.

Being a douchebag/asshat/troll, as bad as it is, shouldn't result in going to the ICU, and getting spoiled is a pretty shit reason for a "justifiable" assault.

In the end, everyone involved pretty much sucks.

Anyone know what he spoiled? I want to know what he shouted. (I saw the movie last night don't worry. Just put it in a spoiler tag or something)

The article didn't say, but I'm pretty sure that if people were this mad, it would be...

Han's death.

Nothing else in the movie was as big of a spoiler as that was.

I know, but I'm just saying that I think policemen letting the assaulters off the hook was what struck me as the strangest bit.

The fact the cops let them free made me lmfao! That kind of shit you'll never see in NYC.

Troll had it coming to him. The internet isn't the same as real life, trolls.
