TV [Fake(?)]Please, Let This Not Suck! Netflix revives Jimmy Neutron!

Recommended Posts

Hope you don't mind, but I added a bit to the title so that people would know what the thread was about. ;)

Anyway, this could be pretty cool. I liked Jimmy Neutron as a kid, and I'll definitely give the new episodes a look. I wonder if they're going to get new voices for all the characters?

As long as it's better than Planet Sheen.

Ugh, way to bring the bad memories, Kaweebo. :(Nah, JK!I hope this is good, since I too enjoyed it, many years ago, back on Nicktoons.

Oh my gosh. You have got to be kidding me. I loved this when I was a little kid. I remember it always coming on at 4:30 pm EST and I would put it on after I came home from school. Good memories. Let's see what they do with the new storyline after all villains were defeated from League of Villains.

Xiaolin Chronicles singlehandedly killed my chances at being excited for a revival of an old cartoon. I might check this out, but my expectations are pretty low.

The problem with XC is that it was marred by various factors regarding it's production. (#BlameCanada)

As long as this series is just going to have the original team come back and the writing is the same as the early seasons, it'll be fine.

Besides, I don't think you can lower the bar any lower than Planet Sheen did...

ya know i'm a bit skeptical....isn't clickhole a satire/parody site? granted that could mean they're taking an actual announcement and making fun of it but still.

don't get your hopes up

edit: you know what? scratch it. i'm gonna call BS on this. it's fake.

...you guys know this is a ClickHole article, right?  They're akin to the Onion or any other fake news/satirical article websites on the internet.  So sadly, this is definitely fake.

lol I love the whole "unless someone can seriously think of something better" bit though

... Then what the Hell is it supposed to be satirizing? The overall trend of the entertainment industry cashing in on nostalgia? Which then started the recent trend of old cartoons being revived through new series or seasons?

What's the joke? "Hey, we're gonna give Jimmy Neutron a new season... yay!" Nothing else was said that might have indicated any flaws of the trend, such as the common "Michael Bay-inization" of the product or even something on the lines of Teen Titans Go! proportions. It literally just said that it was coming back. Granted, yes, there's the trivial reasoning by "Netflix", but what is that supposed to be saying? Nostalgia cash-ins are easy? Well no shit, it's been going on for what seems like forever. We know that companies are going to take any chance they get to exploit an old property, it's old news. So then what? The article is too boring and bland to indicate that it's actually trying to send a message in the first place.

If this is supposed to be a joke, it's not very funny. :/

XC had the same writer, though, and many of its issues came from the writing. Those factors weren't the only problems it had. :/

Christy Hui isn't credited as writer. She's a producer.

Still, #BlameCanada

Seriously, unless Christy Hui was replaced by an alien lizard from Planet Jupiter, there is no way the series should have turned out the way it did. Canada and its damn laws had to basically tear the continuity apart and repackage it in the worst of ways, and even adding characters like Ping Pong or Shadow could have turned out better if Hui was just allowed to make the show exactly how she wanted without having to deal with the copyright bullshit.

Really now, even if some the problems still remained, I'd take a XC that as least feels like it's a continuation of XS plus halfway decent ideas and writing over the equivalent of "Xiaolin GT". XS wasn't exactly perfect either, especially in the last season, but the good stuff still holds up and that's what makes it great. XC didn't get that chance.

Canadian laws must be strict if XC had so many major changes. ._.

I really loved XS, and I'd love a proper revival. I've tried watching XC again just to give it a fair shot (and finish it to justify how often I tear it apart), but that alone's a really difficult task. If they could get a series that continues from XS, I'd actually have something to watch that interests me again.

... well... we might have to wait on that.

See, I did some research and apparently there is something in the works... but it's a continuation of Xiaolin Chronicles called "Xiaolin Dragons". And it's not a new cartoon, it's a graphic novel series. Here's the Kickstarter page.

And okay yeah, maybe I was exaggerating a bit before. Maybe the only reason XS was good was because Hui had Kids WB and other producers on deck with her and maybe she just isn't good at doing work on her own and having to deal with Canana's changes as well.

I dunno man, I just don't get it. :/

It looks like it was delayed.

The only problem is that Ping-Pong's on the cover, meaning it'd be a continuation of XC. Darn. :/

The former. Only reason the funds weren't met were because of the delay. They'll pick back up in 2016.

Yeah, pretty much... doesn't look like he's going away either, nor is the bulk of this new "XGT" regime... seriously, this is just baffling to me. Christy Hui literally has to carry this franchise on her back in the same manner as a damn fan series. It's like an indy company promoting their first game, and aside from that Canada bullshit, there doesn't seem to be anything else mucking up the production... so then what??

Yeah, I read it wrong at first.

I honestly have no clue how a continuation of a fantastic series with the original producer and much of the original team turned out to be so... bad. Unforgivably, terribly bad. It just makes no sense to me. I couldn't even make it past the first three episodes.

This, Hey! Arnold, Samurai Jack.

Guys, looks like we are in the early 2000s Cartoon Renaissance. Rejoice!

I think you need to re-read the first page's posts...
