Exiblade7 1,917 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) it's just a really bad stereotype. I'm 17 years old and people EXPECT me to play COD? seriously? Not saying there is something wrong with COD though. GotMilk5101520 573 Posted November 24, 2015 Call of Duty: Meant to be for adults, ends up being for kids. Nintendo Games: Meant to be for kids, ends being for adults. 3 Exiblade7, Organization member XV and The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Exiblade7 1,917 Posted November 24, 2015 Call of Duty: Meant to be for adults, ends up being for kids. Nintendo Games: Meant to be for kids, ends being for adults. that's true, but they is still a good amount of adults that play COD and a good amount of kids that play Nintendo games. Dave 5,715 Posted November 24, 2015 Because people of every generation like to make widespread generalizations about every other generation in order to make believe that they themselves are part of a special, elite club. 6 Sendou Aichi, Gamerazor247, HeyMouseSayCheese and 3 others reacted to this
Shana09 5,769 Posted November 24, 2015 Because our generation plays a lot of CoD. I've rarely ever seen adult CoD players. I don't play CoD personally. Its not that bad of a stereotype, its just the people who try to use it as some sort of elitist way that is annoying. 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
Sora96 17,256 Posted November 24, 2015 Because the games sell like 20 million copies. Lol. 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
HeyMouseSayCheese 1,133 Posted November 24, 2015 Because human beings always stereotype everyone else. Never mind that almost no one matches any given stereotype and different people like different things no matter how similar they seem to others; stereotyping is just easier. Call of Duty is one of the biggest most successful franchises in the industry, and teens play a lot of video games, therefore you obviously must play CoD. 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted November 24, 2015 Honestly, Call Of Duty is meh for me. The only ones I do have are Black Ops I and II, and I plan on getting III in the near future! Those are the only COD games I really like! Honestly, COD players nowadays are mostly kids. It's funny and weird when they cuss online! Oh well, that's the world we live in! 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
Dracozombie 4,554 Posted November 24, 2015 If we're embracing stereotypes, then my mind tends to stereotype CoD players as in the 12-14 range with a vocabulary mainly consisting of racial/sexual slurs. I'm not actually sure where the "17-year-olds should play CoD" stereotype comes from.
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted November 24, 2015 From the title, I began to think that you are a twelve-year-old, but that clearly isn't the case. It's just a social norm and that CoD is probably the most played game in this day and age, which is rather ridiculous. First-person-shooters are not that great. I'm fine with playing it, but they aren't as fun as the action, adventure, RPG or puzzle genres. If we're embracing stereotypes, then my mind tends to stereotype CoD players as in the 12-14 range with a vocabulary mainly consisting of racial/sexual slurs. I'm not actually sure where the "17-year-olds should play CoD" stereotype comes from. Yeah, that's news to me as well.
Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted November 24, 2015 I know the feeling: Every time I got to buy a game, the clerk prattles about the new COD whatever. I don't play COD, and for some reason it surprises people: they assume all I play is war games, Granf Theft Auto, and more war games. To be honest I prefer point and click hidden object games above anything else 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
Clouded Sun 1,232 Posted November 26, 2015 I'm a tall, black gamer who brings my 3DS to school everyday. Imagine what stereotypes mean to me (especially when people say "You're wasting your tallness" or "Man, you should be playing basketball") 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
