    • Yes, I've learned a lot. It's amazing the stuff you learn form games.

Have you ever learned anything by playing a game - things like facts or stuff you would lean in school.

I've learned plenty.  Mother Nature in Pajama Sam 2 taught me that Chicago is the Windy City, I learned pregnancy is 9 months long from The Time Warp of Dr. Brain, and Zoombinis taught me how to think.

Oh yeah, I learned plenty. Like how snails don't make good shoe laces.

Okay, seriously though, I really have learned a lot of things. A lot of what I learned from video games comes from Persona 3 and 4. For instance, the shortest war in history was only about 48 minutes, when the documents of the declaration of war were accidentally burned, thus ending the war there.

I learned that Pikachu's name is Derived from the real life mouse-like animal called a Pika.

You can see for yourself.

I also learned that the color blue gives good luck to ME, from a massive number of games.

And as for one other example, I even learned how to be strong and powerful, without having to work out or gain governmental power (Both which seem to take forever). From every game I have played in my life.

There are plenty more, but I'd rather not spend time talking about them. Just try for yourself next time you play a game. "You might just be glad you did!"

Rock on!

The amount of stuff that I've learned from video games is rather incredible.  I think with each new game I learn something new.  I especially learned a lot in a game called Mario is Missing.  It's absolutely the worst SNES game ever, but it had a lot of historical facts that I found interesting that I still haven't learned elsewhere.  Cool stuff, and I definitely don't believe that video games are entirely a waste of time. ; )

yea i'd say the Persona games, mainly 3 and 4 have taught me a lot through their themes of bonds between people, overcoming the fear of death, facing the truth in order to accept it and move on etc etc. the KH series has also provided me with some points of interest here and there. One moment specifically came from KH2. The line said by Mickey, "Helping others should come before asking others for help. We're safe and sound and free to choose," stuck with me.

FFIX has also taught me many things as well.

I like a game that tries to get across a deeper message to the player.

as for actual knowledge.....um.....nothing comes to mind at the moment but i know there have been instances where a game will incorporate a real fact and later on i'll remember it because of the game i was playing.

I learned many things from video games. Including not to be a judgmental ignorant bagot who doesn't have a life other than going to work and wallowing in own dull existence.

But yeah, other than that, video games taught me that there is more to life then just going through bullshit everyday. That life is beautiful if you open your eyes and enjoy the many different worlds that are out there.

But in terms of literal stuff, I've learned things like how during WWII the Nazis were trying to develop legit wonder weapons (thanks Nazi Zombies) as well as things like Hedgehogs float on water (Sonic can't swim but his creator didn't know Hedgehogs swim and it was a pretty funny fail)

And I also learned scientific stuff but I can't remember any actual examples.

GTA taught me how to drive. I didn't say well.

The Sims taught me that if there's ever a fire in your house you should run up to it screaming and flailing your arms around, instead of calling the fire department to put it out.

Two lessons I shall carry on with me for the rest of my life.  xP

It's funny how generic "learning" is. At first I was thinking in terms of stuff like problem solving and interpersonal skills, but then I thought straight facts and lessons (Persona 4 Golden) to get information from.

In short, yeah, a lot.

I learned the most important lesson ever told! It's a lesson that will always be remembered as it saves people's lives:

Seriously, this was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this thread. xDJoking aside, I don't think I've ever learned anything important... maybe some small facts by playing Persona 3&4.

Hmm, I'm sure that I've learnt a lot from video games, but the only thing applicable that I can remember is playing Vagrant story, and my teacher asking who in the class knew what a vagrant was. When I told her where I learnt it I could have sworn she would have fainted xD

Rip all English teachers and their belief in books

KH2FM Critical Level 1 taught me to not throw my controller out of the window even if I'm super frustrated.

^ I can relate to this although nowdays lvl1 isnt a problem for me anymore.

If you didn't learn at least something from a gem, wyd? I'm usually able to come out of almost every game with at least one new bit of information acquired. Maybe that's just me. I dunno.
