GothicSlenderman 173 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) I made a post on Random for help on thinking of ideas for my YouTube Post I made yesterday: "So I'm on a bit of a hiatus for my YouTube account and during this time I want to think of a new idea for the channel. I do mainly horror on it (as that's the theme of the channel) and I want to do a new series horror related that hasn't been done before (a lot anyway) What I do normally -Top 10s - Self explanatory -Grotesque Brain - Trivia kind of like DidYouKnowGaming but for the horror genre and not just games -Infinite Shades of Goth - I just talk about different forms of the subculture -Maybe some Creepypasta readings every now and then Does anyone have a new idea? I need at least 2 new fresh ideas for series!" And I got a lot of suggestions thanks to the people on this site! Thank you! But while looking into ideas I recently noticed a sudden rise of Kingdom Hearts fan games starting development and I've always wanted to make my own Kingdom Hearts. However; I recently got the idea of "What if Kingdom Hearts was a horror game?" Using a similar gameplay style in a 2D platformer like perspective with NO KEYBLADE, but instead using magic as your only way to fight. With a twist! While you will have some generic spells you will still have combos to follow up using your magic. You can switch between certain types of magic to use different combos and switching at the right time could even result in a hybrid attack. Your magic will not be unlimited though giving way to the true horror aspect. Waiting for your MP to charge back up for needing to use an item will force you to run and hide like a Survival Horror game so it could change rather quickly (These are just ideas though). Worlds: I want the worlds to be based on other urban legends, stories, maybe even creepypastas, but anything familiar yet new to explore. I will not do something like Nightmare on Elm Street or Silent Hill due to the fact that I desire to make this an original project with original worlds. If you have any ideas for worlds wether that be a Fairy Tale, Urban Legend, Creepypasta or anything else please put them down below! Worlds I can confirm for now: -GothicWolfTail World -Coffin County (The Incarnation of Cruentus Demonia) -Twisteria (Tales of Despare) -Unnamed Creepypasta based world (No door made just yet) -H.P. Lovecraft/Cthulhu world Concept sprites (I may be making artwork soon) Main character sprite, other forms? (just an idea), Health setup (left side), Command setup (right side) Also includes the doors (which are your entrances to other worlds) Have any ideas, critisms, or thoughts? Please tell me (^o^)/ I'm all ears. Anyway just remember that these are the only things I have for the project so it's still in pre-production. UPDATE 11/16/15: New Sprites, Enemy, World Possibilities & FREE Quick update! I am now announcing that when the game is complete it will be free to play & download. Now where you can download it from is still in deciding. Most likely Gamejolt, Steam (if I can have the freedom to put it up for free and if I decide not to add "certain" worlds) or a future website I desire to make for my content. Now this decision will determine whether or not I will be able to release the game on Steam (for Steam is for original content) While the game itself will be original the "decision" may not be. This idea are worlds based on already existing content like Lavender Town or Silent Hill. If I decide not to then Steam is a possibility but if I add worlds like those I could not be able to release it on there but I could still release it on things like Gamejolt. Enemies decided: While the species of the enemies has not been finalized in decision, the idea is. These are creatures called Stalkers they use the doors just like Luna but not on the same plain of reality as her. Once they enter the other worlds they become physical and visible. This is when they become a true threat. Stalkers come from the Sins of humans. The image down below shows the most common of the Stalkers. They come from the sin of lying as even the most innocent of people have lied more than once in their lives. The less repeated and more evil sins for the bigger Stalkers. They feed off of the pain of others, they get along with those who sin the most but only if the sinner excepts then. Kind of like the heartless these sinners can control them if they're filled with enough sin and have successfully earned the trust of the Stalkers. They do this so they can both feed & eventually create more Stalkers as the more pain humans go through the more likely they are to sin for survival. How they get into a physical form is unknown. Image of the most common Stalkers, the Liar's Blood (name most likely not final) Now we have some new sprites for the main character Luna. A young girl who wakes up in a dark mansion. She has no memory of who she is and where she came from. The only thing she does remember is her name. She's brave for her age and independently strong. She is cursed by the new trench coat she wears. She cannot take it off or all of her skin will fall off. Update 11/17/15: Walking Sprites I know this isn't much but I added new walking sprites and I'm starting to work on jumping sprites Stick around for updates! Update 11/19/15: Hub World Concept & New Gameplay Concept Now for something a little bigger. First the new Gameplay style. Original it was going to be an Action RPG but after much consideration for the story genre I decided to make it into a Point & Click adventure. This will change the nature of the game, concepts & the Stalkers quite a bit but I feel like the game is going to benefit from this. Now for something different. I have a concept of the hub world ready. Now remember this is just a concept and may not be in relation to the final product. Thanks for reading! more updates will be available soon! Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted November 16, 2015 What about worlds that are dark versions of the Disney stories? Like a Sleeping Beauty world taken over by vines that try to kill you, or a Snow White world that's a posioned wasteland? Or, on a more original take still fitting in with the KH theme, dark versions of stories Disney never used, like The Ash Tree, or Hansel and Gretel? Creepypasta's are okay, but if you're doing a KH based horror game, the only critism I have is you might want to base worlds in semi-fantasy areas, that are then horror, not a full on gore fest like Jeff The Killer. The contrast would be too striking for a lot of people to get over, and it would ruin the game flow (Unless Jeff was put into the worlds somehow). Having a twisted/horror fairy tale setting would feel more KH-y. I know you said original worlds, so maybe try looking into older legends, and classic horror, instead of Creepypasta. Having to fight, say, Bloody Mary, or a Wendigio, would be severely scrwed up and freaky, and fairly original. Or even other things from around the world, like the German Year Walk, or the Kappa's and snake women from Japan. 1 GothicSlenderman reacted to this
catmaster0116 2,676 Posted November 16, 2015 One again Cool sprites! The first thing I thought of when I read 'Arrhythmia' was cardiac rhythm issues

It's more based on if I can't get the permission/rights to use other horror indie games/indie animations/writers of creepypasta On 11/16/2015 at 1:02 AM, catmaster0116 said: One again Cool sprites! Horror and scares tend to make your heart stop sometimes. Originally Arrythmia was going to be just a collection of minihorror games but I think this idea is better! If it doesn't work than I'll go to the route of original worlds based on Urban Legends, Fairy Tails, Fair Use Material (like Cthulhu) and what not. Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted November 16, 2015 I think instead of having the game be like KH but having the worlds be Creepypastas, I think you should make it a reversed twisted take on KH itself! Kind of like that Pokemon game someone made years ago, where this detective guy goes to this town to investigate the murders of all its citizens to only find mutant animals (which is the Pokemon) it's very interesting and I think you should check that out. I think you should make your KH game like that. Instead of the worlds being the happy Disney versions, you should have the worlds be the original Grim tales but even worse. I recommend including stories like Donkeyskin Girl, and especially Bluebeard. And perhaps you can have the protagonist given the Keyblade by a dark entity and the protagonist could be tasked with actually taking the hearts of the princesses. Then there could be another guy with a Keyblade, the good guy, trying to stop you but you could just kill him in the end. 2 Philip Ellwell and GothicSlenderman reacted to this

But I personally would rather work with an original story and concepts. But maybe a side project wouldn't hurt. I'l keep it in mind.

I'd say go with Lovecraft and Poe, along with fairy tales. Creepypasta is a little over-used in horror lately. Or, even better, combine fairy tales with Poe and Lovecraft, and make severely f-d original worlds.

KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted November 20, 2015 I am anti-horror in general so I would not have an opinion on stuff like this. I do wish you the best with your efforts. 1 GothicSlenderman reacted to this
