Sora96 17,256 Posted November 6, 2015 I am on the fence. I have never played a Dragon Quest or Omega Force game. 2 WakelessDream and Riosephmido reacted to this
The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted November 6, 2015 It's not an actual DQ game, it's a dynasty warriors type spin off. 1 Heartless Plush reacted to this
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted November 6, 2015 There's always the EB Games return policy in case you didn't like it.
Sora96 17,256 Posted November 6, 2015 It's not an actual DQ game, it's a dynasty warriors type spin off. No it's still a Dragon Quest a spin-off. BD6 were quite involved in the development.
Iamkingdomhearts1000 1,170 Posted November 6, 2015 Although it can get a little repetitive for a Dynasty Warriors based video game, Dragon Quest Heroes is good to play.
Heartless Plush 177 Posted November 6, 2015 Woah, never? Then I say Nay at the moment. I'd say get the port for smart phones of 8, or wait till VII. Play an ol' fashion DQ game first. The port is cheap for an older ps2 masterpiece and it's easily accessible. It's cheaper than Heroes I'm betting and you'll get the DQ experience. Plus you'll enjoy the spinoff more so, I think, when you can appreciate and know the source material.... But...who am i?
Ven983 490 Posted November 6, 2015 I don't know if this would be the game to start with if you aren't familiar with Dragon Quest or this style of game, since it has a basic story and mostly rides on the characters that cameo from other Dragon Quest games. I would recommend Hyrule Warriors if you own a Wii U to test the waters, or even trying to find an older Dynasty Warrior game for cheap. I find the game rather charming and I have only played two DQ games. I would like to recommend it though since Square Enix basically said that this game makes or breaks it for the franchise outside of Japan.
Official Bowtie Artist 90 Posted November 6, 2015 Me personally, I'd say get it only if you had some idea of the original stories put into the series. Playing a game like Heroes, I feel as though one might want to connect to a character and go "oh, I remember this" or "wow, they really improved that!" rather than just "oh hey, picking random stranger who wears red. I liek red." When I originally saw the announcement trailer, I found it to be a nostalgic bring-back sort of game. "Remember all of these characters from your childhood? Boom!" sorta thing. But hey, that's just my opinion.
Deadpool 1,200 Posted November 6, 2015 I'd play Dragon Quest 9 first. Only DQ game I've played (or at least remember playing, enjoyed playing, and finished) and I kinda loved it.
Pangoro "Sen" 445 Posted November 6, 2015 Yeah, I'm basically on the same boat as everybody else. You should really only play Heroes if you're familiar with many of the Dragon Quest games. Though if you're still interested in Dragon Quest, I would most recommend you get IX. As for Warriors games, I hear the Samurai Warriors games are great. Though if you want to start off strong, and you're a fan of One Piece, then Pirate Warriors 3 would be your best choice.
