New Kingdom Hearts III trailer shown at D23 Expo Japan 2015

Attendees of the Kingdom Hearts Premium Theater event at D23 Expo Japan were given the chance to watch new Kingdom Hearts III footage. Though the trailer won't be released to the public for a while, we have some details given by attendees on Twitter.

What we know so far:

[*]The world based on Tangled makes a reappearance, with a new flower Heartless

[*]A new Nobody is shown, confirming their return as an enemy in Kingdom Hearts III.

[*]The conversation between young Eraqus and young Xehanort is expanded upon from what we've seen previously at E3 2015 and Tokyo Game Show 2015 (Later revealed that this conversation is in the event-exclusive trailer).

[*]Sora locks on to 10 Heartless at once within 1.5 seconds and begins to attack at lightning speeds for a temporary period of time!

[*]The speedy action of the KH3 trailer surprised some.

[*]New abilities of Sora, Donald, and Goofy were revealed. Footage of 3 people riding on Goofy's shield and attacking.

[*]Character movements in battle scene are detailed. Especially Sora's legs in the river.

[*]There was a river Sora fell into while fighting heartless.

[*]Towards the end of the trailer, there is a scene with Sora, Riku, Kairi, Ven, Aqua, Terra, Namine, Roxas and Lea. This is the scene that made many fans emotional.

Yup, if that isn't giving anyone Marluxia vibes then I don't know what will. Maybe we might finally get Nobodies based on the C.O. members of the old Organization in this game. It would really be cool if we got the other 11 from KH2, including the Dusks and Creepers, all 8 elite Nobodies (ones based off of Org. members), and the Twilight Thorn, as well as any new giant Nobody bosses as well! I just want more Nobodies! And maybe even other past enemies too, like Unversed and Dream Eaters...although I don't know how that would work unless Vanitas IS a part of the new Org. and there might be Realm of Sleep travel.

This also raises the chances of Marluxia been part of the True Organization, although as soon as we see another member's nobody, that leaves Marluxia out too.

 

Also, what Hera of Light said of the Dream Eaters, at the end of DDD, Sora goes to Traverse Town and sees his spirits there (outside of the Realm of Sleep), why wouldn't YX be able to summon Nightmares from there too?

Traverse Town was still a sleeping world, it's the only world that naturally is one, as it stays there until someone needs it.And yeah, that looks a lot like Marluxia, even though he's a traitor, but I'd be really happy to see him again, he's a real badass. Maybe after hearing the true goal of Organization XIII after being reborn as his "somebody" he decided to join with Xehanort ? After all, he and Larxene betrayed the rest because they saw no point in getting their hearts back, so maybe another reason would interrest them (I doubt both of them would return, though, probably only Marluxia and not Larxene).

I kind of pointed this out in a similar post, but shouldn't Xion be mentioned in that list too? Lots of witnesses say she was in it as well.

I think that what will (or should) happen is that we'll fight Heartless, Nobodies, Dream Eaters and Unversed (Heartless summoned by Ansem, Nobodies summoned by Xemnas, Dream Eaters summoned by YX and Unversed summoned by Vanitas).

 

Young Xehanort doesn't particularly have any power over the Dream Eaters in the real world. He and other enemies could only summon and control them because they were the only manifestation of Darkness in the Realm of Sleep. That way they worked as the "Heartless" of that realm. That being said they could only exist within the Realm of Sleep, save for the World that Never Was due to Riku still having Dream Eater powers due to Sora remaining asleep, and because the world has a mysterious unexplained nature about it.

 

That's not to say that it couldn't happen, so long as it is under the context that you fight Young Xehanort within the Realm of Sleep for whatever reason. Unless Nomura writes up another reason for why it could happen of course.

 

But the point is that Young Xehanort doesn't have a direct affiliation with the Dream Eaters, he just happened to be in the Realm of Sleep and was able to control them like everyone else. Ansem can command the Heartless because he is the strongest of all Heartless, Xemnas can command the Nobodies for the same reason as well as the fact that they recognize him as their ruler, and Vanitas can control the Unversed because they are extensions of his emotions so they are a part of him. For all intents and purposes, Young Xehanort is just an ordinary teenager/young adult from Destiny Islands who was given magic and time travel powers from his future self. He's just a powered up wanderer with no direct affiliation to any of the forces of Darkness (well until he fully accepted and embraced his destiny that is). He's no magic Dream Eater genie or anything.

Honestly, I think there may be one entire world to represent the Realm of Sleep, and that Sora's first Dream Eater will be that world's party member.

 

I also think we'll be able to go to the Datascape and have Data-Sora as a party member. Yes, I honestly believe everything original to the franchise will be in KHIII. I predicted Nobodies would be there, and got it right. Now, with  possible hints of Vanitas, we may have the Unversed again.

I can't help but hope that Riku will be the one to save Terra. Especially after seeing the scene in DDD where he talks to Ansem about how he "reminds him of someone" and goes on to say "You're part of my heart now. Part of the Light!" Even though Xehanort still has a strong hold on Terra, I wonder if Riku will ultimately be the one to "awaken his sleeping heart."

 

As for the whole Marluxia thing, I do hope that we see him, or his complete form, in the future. That nobody sketch does seem to hint at something related. As for him being one of the thirteen, well, he was pretty far into the whole betrayal. Though I wonder if that, too, was ultimately a part of Xehanort's plan.
