It's a sign of the shifting aesthetic. If you look back, bright, vibrant colors where commonplace in the '90s, but in the new millennium there has been a shift to more toned down colors. Clearly that aesthetic has spread East.

well that sucks

Its not that its less colorful, its that the colors are less bright.

tales of xillia 2 and Zestiria have that problem too. The colors are there, but it's less bright like you said. there is a good difference between the art style in xillia and the art style in Vesperia

Looks rather bright to me. :/

I think it's because of the graphic style for the game. It is very different from the graphic style for Vesperia. To me, the colors in xillia just don't

pop while in Vesperia, that's a different story.

I see this a lot in Xillia 2, mainly in the more industrialised areas. I think it sort of fits with that theme of industry so it is less bright. Hopefully Tales of Zestiria has some nice scenery. And some better draw distance...

exactly. that's what bothers me about the two xillia games. there are barely any colors were there are cities. Honestly it kinda hard to look at the the two games because of the graphic style. It was pleasing to my eyes at times, but most of the time it wasn't.

Yeah. And just for some more comparison, take a look at this picture of Ni No Kuni. Both images are from a industry/city area.

I see that Ni No Kuni is trying to show off it's colors(I guess?) while Xillia 2 has a lot of dull colors that don't really pop. I really hope future tales games make the colors pop like in Tales of Vesperia. That game is absolutely beautiful.

The Xillia games are the best looking games of the series so it doesn't bother me. I'm not an art guy so I don't notice that kind of stuff, but aside from the fractured dimensions of Xillia 2 and the last city of game,Xillia looks colorful to me.

I respect your opinion and it's true that the Xillia games uses more polygons than Vespiria, but honestly I only notice the bright colors in a certain area in the overworld in the xillia games. That's what I would like it see all the time, not just colors that are dull all of the time. It seems like Zestiria is going in this kind of direction at all.

I second her as She's the reason people care for tales in the mainstream crowd and she could maybe do it again

Even though I think she did the best job on the storylines on the games I've mentioned above, I also think that the people who worked on the story for xillia 1 and 2 did a great job as well

Whoever wrote the story of the Xillia games should return for Berseria. The Xillia games had best story and dialogues of all the Tales I've played.

The guy who wrote Tales of the Abyss plot, Takumi Miyajima. Thought it would be interesting to see someone outside of the franchise writing for one of the games. (My vote goes to Kazushige Nojima, FF7,8,10,15 writer)

xillia was pretty great as well, so i agree, however I'm hoping that team Zestria won't make any mainline games after that one as their directing and shady business could ruin the series and Team Graces also would not be fit for any future games

I agree with you on that one. They've basically made Tales of Graces 2.0 and most of the tales fans including me really dislike how Tales of Graces played. They need to like change it up a little, but not to the point where it becomes another tales of graces like game again.

I find it interesting that the people who made Tales of Xillia 1 and 2's story have worked on Tales of Zestiria's story. I'm not worried about the story being simple now because these guys did a great job with the xillia games' story and they can do it again. I'll be surprised if the game's storyline sucks.

mine are:

Jade using his mystic arte: "Oh admonishing melody, arise in the name of the necromancer!... Mystic Cage!"

and

Luke using his mystic arte: "AaaaaaaaAaAAAAAH! Now DIIIIIIIIEEEE! Who's next!?"(only says Who's next when the enemy actually dies)

what's yours?
