Enix 995 Posted October 27, 2015 Oh look, Hatok finally returned. But seriously, I don't understand the appeal of Undertale. It's just Earthbound but expect there's odd creatures and you have the choice to kill or not kill. 1 Movies798 reacted to this

Everything it does is pure unfiltered genius. Everyone loves it, so obviously no one can not love it. Still you cling to these falsehoods? Still you assert your "opinion"? Then fall to the wayside with the rest of the dissenters. The dark one will reap your soul and rise again. Such is the price of freedom. tl;dr: You're entitled to your opinion. To be honest, Undertale looks like a poor mans version of Earthbound trying to make you question your morals and stuff when really, it's...just...no. Such simple games are quite hard to market really, without major spoilers or shining moments revealed and ruined, Hype is almost impossible. I don't condone over-hyping but some would help the game. These vague explanations and countless awards thrown at these games create expectations which are never quite met on point, really. And it is a shame. And I don't really like sacrificing Gameplay for Story or vice versa, so games like Dear Ester and After the Rapture really don't float my boat. The Stanley Parable is hilarious, thought-provoking and crazy, Journey is utterly breathtaking....but they are some of the few shining examples of how to do such a thing. Sorarocks93 678 Posted October 27, 2015 I used to buy games blindly, but I didn't have the internet back then. When I buy a game now, I know I want it.
lostmemory123 1,056 Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) Oh look, Hatok finally returned. But seriously, I don't understand the appeal of Undertale. It's just Earthbound but expect there's odd creatures and you have the choice to kill or not kill. Well as far as game play goes, its way more interactive and interesting than Earthbound, even if you do decide not to hurt any enemy, and thats coming from a guy who has come to love Earthbound. If you look at any footage of battles in Undertale, in order to avoid damage, you have to enter these "bullet hell" sections and avoid getting attacked, which is already more interactive than Earthbound and its menus, so it has more appeal gameplay wise in that sense But unless youre talking about the content that isnt gameplay, I cant blame you for not getting its appeal. Visuals aside,it is kinda like Earthbound in the sense that its a game that has gotten praise more for its story and characters rather than its gameplay, and those are things that youd have to experience yourself in order to "get it." If you have experienced the game though and still dont get the appeal, than at that point the game just doesnt cater to your tastes, which is fine. Although Im not sure if you have or havent played the game based on this post alone. Edited October 27, 2015 by lostmemory123
