Hajime Tabata would like to make a Legend of Zelda game

Recommended Posts

In an interview with Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy XV, he was asked hypothetically if there was a game he'd like to work on as a member of the staff and he said

“The Legend of Zelda series. I’m not quite sure why myself, but a Zelda game made with the technology and know-how of Final Fantasy XV is the game I wish to create as of this moment.”

Personally, that sounds awesome! It can kinda be like with Hyrule Warriors, have Tabata direct the game while having Eji Aonuma supervise.

This would be great and would have loads of potential, but Nintendo would never allow another company to make a mainline Zelda game, the most hope Square would ever have is making a complete spin-off title like Hyrule Warriors, and even that would be really pushing it.

I wouldn't mind to see an other company make a new Zelda game.Capcom made 3 Zelda and they were great and Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warrios and Zelda crossover is great too so I'm sure Square Enix could make a Zelda game.

Uh... I'd prefer if they'd stick to Nintendo or their close partners for Zelda games, even spin-offs. Looks like I'm alone in that thought, though.

I will say I hope that the team developing Zelda U accepts Monolith Soft's offer to help them on it, though... Monolith could offer a lot to them in terms of making a massive scale game, given that's what they're used to. They're also Nintendo owned, so it's still help from within the company.

Don't worry, it's not happening. This is all just a random wish of Tabata's for the sake of the interview. He's made it official he's going to make a new IP after XV.

I know it won't. Just saying that, if it hypothetically could happen, I wouldn't personally want it too.

I wouldn't either. Waste of resources. No offence to Zelda, but Square Enix has its own IPs to worry about and they can't even cover them all. Lol.

Well you never know Mr. 96. Sure he'll be busy with newer projects now but that doesn't rule out the possibility of him making a Zelda game. It would be pretty interesting to see the FF XV director make a Zelda game if you ask me.

Imagine a Zelda game with the open world & graphics/detail of FFXV

Engine not even compatible with NX. Lol.

We haven't even seen or barely heard what the NX is capable of so we can't say it's not compatible. And even if it's not, it might come close.

It's a custom-built engine for PS4 & Xbox One. And again, Tabata said their next title is a new IP and SE will then try to make it into a trilogy.
