Sikota Urinakano 876 Posted October 11, 2015 So I've owned the title for a little over a year now. Levels 49 with Aqua and Ven, 55 with Terra. I know I've got a long ways ahead of me, but I've already tackled Vanitas Remnant several... okay many times. The thing can obliterate me in seconds and regularly heals the dismal amounts of damage I can deal to it. Plus shotlock is ineffective. I loved that thing. My main strategy right now is going to really raise my levels—probably wait until Iron Imprisoner IV is a breeze before I consider myself ready—and then try and dish out enough damage to kill the Remnant between heals. As well as advice, I'd love to hear your own stories. How'd you guys deal wit Vanitsas' lingering spirit? 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
HumbleGamer 76 Posted October 11, 2015 Well for one thing I made sure not to use Cure spells because whenever you do Vanitas heals himself as well, so as a replacement I used Mega Potions, which you can buy at any moogle shop or get as drop items from some enemies. For my strategy I had 4 Aerial Slams and 4 Mega Potion slots (alternating between the two), I was LV 99 on all three characters and was on Critical Mode. I found a rhythm of when to use Aerial Slam for different situations, it has invincibility frames so it can save you from getting hurt and you can hit Vanitas a lot because of it, even if he's trying to attack back. This strategy made things WAY easier for me in the end. You should try it, I hope it'll help in your next attempts if you do .

I've let the game sit for too long. Heheh.
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted October 12, 2015 Well for one thing, the heals that he does? Yeah, he only does that if you use Cure spells on your self. The solution? DITCH EM!! No, really, get rid of them, they take forever to load and they're just going to prompt him to heal himself anyway. You're better off just stocking up on Potions, Hi-Potions, and Mega-Potions, dedicating 4 slots to each, then you'll dedicate the other four slots to any Mine spells you have, preferably at max levels. Also, you're shotlock won't be good for ANYTHING other than becoming invincible when he does that multiple shadow clone attack thing. I would go for Photon Strike (the one where you rush around with light all over you, kind of like Terra's Sonic Shadow, only Light), at max level it can max lock pretty quickly and you can stay invulnerable for the whole attack, and then some, if you keep inputting the commands right. Also, for extra free healing, I would recommend unlocking and equipping the Heal Strike Finisher, as 2 of the strikes will heal you a good deal. Other than that, dodging and any amount of recovery and survival based abilities that you can equip (i.e. Second Chance, Leaf Bracer, etc.) will help you out a good deal. It certainly helps to be at a higher level as it does increase the damage you deal and the defense you have, but you should also try to focus on maxing your reload time related abilities too, for the minimum amount of time waiting for attacks. Other than that there's not much else to it. Survive and hit when best, good ol guerrilla warfare.
RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) I don't HD 2.5. But what I did on the original game with Aqua, I beat him the cheapest way possible. I used some Vanishes, Seeker Mines, I think Mine Square, Mega Potion (since that jerk heals when you use Curaga...). All I did at the very start of the fight, I used one of her Shocklocks, got at a safe distance, use Vanish, run/firewheel? like heck, set mines down, let him stupidly run on them mines, stay invisible, rinse, lather, and repeat. If I need to heal, I use a Mega Potion. Now, I need to do the same thing with Ventus and Terra. Edited October 12, 2015 by RikuFangirl2008
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted October 12, 2015 Well, let me tell you, Vanitas' Lingering Spirit was no walk in the park! It was one of the hardest secret bosses for me, and it didn't help that the bastard had just one life bar! I was like: "Seriously, with just one life, and to take it away is impossible!" X3 But yeah, the key to winning this battle is having Mine Square and Mine Shield with you. Dodge as much as you can and then place Mine Square/Shield, and as the Remnant follows you to attack you, he'll trip into the traps, and he'll receive damage! Whenever you can get a hit on him with your Keyblade, then do so, but remember that by the second or third strike, he disappears and then tries to disorient you! In actuality, all you need to do is dodge, keep a safe distance away from him, and keep using Mine Square/Shield until his life chips down! Oh, and also, if you heal yourself, the darn fool will heal himself too, so there's that! But yeah, that's how I beat him! With Terra, it was a tad bit more difficult, since his dodging is slow, but the same strategy applies to him, you just have to time your dodges really well with Terra! Anyways, that's all the advice I can give you! Good luck!
Tails 6,690 Posted October 12, 2015 Here's how I've done it. And yes, this is my actual gameplay on the video from my channel.

It's a big help when it comes to Iron Imprisoner's spinning attack Oh yes, that's definitely good, and very true! But yeah, Vanitas' Lingering Spirit and the Mysterious Figure are an entire other story altogether! X3
KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted October 15, 2015 For Aqua, I had four seekernes and four slots full of mega potions. Every time he does the X attack, I teleport underneath and use the mines. For Terra, it was with Mine Square, but mostly the same except without the teleport.
