Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted October 6, 2015 What things would any of you expect there to be or hope to see in the future Final Fantasy VII Remake? For one thing I would expect that everyone retains their voice actors and actresses from the Compilation series, i.e. Cloud voiced by Steve Burton, Sephiroth voiced by George Newbern, Zack voiced by Rick Gomez, etc. I'm also expecting, but mostly hoping, that the characters will be portrayed in a way that is consistent with how they were in the original VII, but that they might also have some slight tweaks added in so that they match up with how they were in the rest of the compilation. For instance, Cloud might be a little more moody during the time when he has his SOLDIER personality, but he'll still retain the cocky and snarky attitude that he formed during that time. Either that or when he remembers who he really is he might adopt a more somber tone like his other appearances, but I would hope that it's still a balanced portrayal and that he isn't too heavy on the angst, but not unbelievably Zack-like either. I'm also anticipating the music to be heavily orchestrated, remixed, or resynthesized kind of like how Crisis Core and Advent Children took some liberties in reworking the classic themes from the original. It kind of feels like most of it might have orchestral movements, but I could also see room for some rock and synth to try to match the more 90's-ish tunes that some old tracks had (kind of like how "Fight On"/"Those Who Fight Further" had rock incorporated into it in Crisis Core and Advent Children). I also expect that while the characters' appearances will likely remain mostly the same, I could see them taking some small liberties here and there. I would personally want to see Cloud's hair looking like it did back in the original and in Kingdom Hearts and Dissidia, but I could also easily see them trying to keep it in line with the Compilation hairstyle. If they could find a compromise between the two, that would be great, because I really liked his original hair a good deal. I could also see them trying to fit in Sephiroth's "One Wing" into his design at some point in the game, like maybe before he goes all final boss mode on them, but I could also see them staying true to the original and not doing that. What are your thoughts, expectations, or hopes as to what will be in the game or added to it? 2 Isaix and Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this
Sora96 17,256 Posted October 6, 2015 They're keeping in Toriyama's scenes. Good enough for me. 2 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) and Hero of Light XIV reacted to this

Dracozombie 4,554 Posted October 7, 2015 To be honest the only hope I have for this game is that they don't make Cloud emo. Y'know, something more in line with his original portrayal, rather than what they turned him into in the Compilation and other appearances. It'd be nice if the remake reminded fans that, oh yeah, Cloud isn't eternally dark and broody, and while he was a serious character he was still determined, hopeful, trusted his friends with his problems, and could even crack a few jokes -- and this was after regaining his true self. Other than that, as long as they keep the core mechanics (turn-based battles, materia system, etc) and story, I'm not too picky about what to expect. It'd be awesome if it's awesome, but if it's not, hey, we'll always have the original. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this

Dracozombie 4,554 Posted October 7, 2015 Scenario will be fine. They have Kitase, Nojima & Toriyama on board. Well, I hear they're keeping things like the crossdressing scene, so that's a promising sign. Still, I'm worried that Squeenix (and fans!) have gotten so used to the direction the Compilation took with the characters and story that it'll subconsciously influence the direction they'll take with the remake. I'm not even just talking about the story, I also mean things like the voice acting (why don't they tell Steve Burton that it's okay to emote a little more? Why?) We're talking years and years of spin-offs and portrayals that saturated the FFVII name, and all the fan familiarity that came with it. It seems like they've left their roots so far behind that I'm not sure how good they'll do at returning to it -- assuming they're truly interested in doing it at all. Then again... Cloud in a dress. They're keeping it in. Gotta have some hope, right? 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this
Isaix 924 Posted October 7, 2015 -I expect great remixes, but knowing Square Enix,I know that's won't be a problem. If its possible, I'd like to have new scenes in sidequests maybe that would tie-in with the other FFVII,like what happens to Genesis after Crisis Core, add Denzel in the game and show us his back story a bit,an extra scene after the credits with Kadaj,Loz and Yazoo, what happened to Cissnei how come she no longer a Turks,if anything interesting happened in that mobile game Before Crisis it'd be interesting to know about it and I believe in Dirge of Cerberus there was a secret organisation call Deep Ground or something,so it'd be interesting to have that in the remake as well.I hope they make the Gold Chocobo quest less tedious. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this

Well Toriyama is likely directing the cutscenes and we was not involved with the Compilation since he was too busy directing XII's sequel and XIII. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this

And like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's personalities were a little combined with their Compilation selves. It would just be consistency, but it would definitely be nice to have Cloud a little more light in tone than what we've been used to, because at the very least, this is the beginning of the story, he hasn't gone through all that drama yet (I mean, none that he would remember). I mean I've gotten so used to the Compilation Cloud that I admit I would be a tiny bit disappointed if he didn't sound as brooding every once in a while, but it will really give those moments meaning if he's a little more spry like he was in the original, or at least something a little more balanced. A personality that would actually make him dating the other party members believable, lol. 1 Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) reacted to this
Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) 3,859 Posted October 7, 2015 I doubt this game will dissapoint me, I'm really expecting it to be awsome. I hope they don't mess up the battle system (in my opinion, FFVII's system was the best by far of it's whole collection, mainly because of the Materia system, which got messed up in CC, in my opinion). Also, as many people have said, Cloud is different in FFVII, he's not as cold as he is in the recent games. Some people have talked about his hairstyle, I honestly don't care. FFXIII's graphics really (and I really mean it) impressed me, they were shockingly amazing (at least compared with the older FF titles); I want to feel this again in FFVII. Well, I hear they're keeping things like the crossdressing scene, so that's a promising sign. They're keeping it in. Gotta have some hope, right? I hope they don't do like in KH and just forget what has happened in the first game and try to change stuff (like Cloud's personality or some other important plot thing) (it's not the same guy after all, so it shouldn't happen). Lulcielid 159 Posted October 7, 2015 I expect a completely new battle system, remixed soundtrack. As far as story goes i expect them to somehow try to tie the other compelation games plot into the remake, be it in the form of sidequest or flashbacks. 1 Captain Swagblader reacted to this
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted October 8, 2015 That's another thing, they might also add a few plot details here or there to try and better connect the story to the Compilation titles. I wouldn't mind that as much, seeing how well the games have linked to the original VII, so I'd expect it to work well enough in reverse. Really so long as certain things like Crisis Core flashbacks are portrayed accurately enough it would do good by me. After all, there's never not a good time to cry at Zack's finale in full PS4 HD. I am also expecting a battle system similar to FFXV. But still retaining the materia system and such. Imagine Cloud in a 3D environment fighting Shinra. THE HYPE MAN!
