Kairi KH2 Keyblade Headcanon - by Master Spockanort and Taochan of KHInsider. Just spreading it here to get it known more

Recommended Posts

We all know that scene from KH2. When Kairi gets tackled by a bunch of fat Shadow heartless and Riku comes in with the Destiny's Embrace Keyblade and gives it to her. The scene that wasn't exactly given an explanation. But Master Spockanort and Taochan of KHInsider have come up with a Headcanon that is the simplest answer to the question of how Riku had that Keyblade with him.

After Sora took the Keyblade from Riku, he quite literally spends most of KH1 borrowing the Keyblade. It isn't until the events of Hollow Bastion that Sora truly earns the right to wield the Kingdom Key. Why do I bring this up? Taochan and I believe that it is extremely possible that Riku probably ended up doing something similar with Kairi's Keyblade. From the time that Kairi ran away from Axel to the point that Kairi yells "You leave Sora alone!" to a bunch of Shadows, Kairi has been proving her strength of heart. She's faced adversity, stood up against those who would harm her and her friends, and time-and-time again she remained strong in her beliefs that she'd find Sora and Riku. This steadfast determination could have possibly been strong enough to call upon the strength of the Keyblade, and thus why it comes to her when a horde of Shadows are about to attack Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Kairi herself. But where does Riku come into play? Well, he clearly pulled the Keyblade from wherever just as Kairi needed it to fight the Shadow Heartless. What if he just did what Sora did, and pretty much plucked it from hammerspace as it was coming to Kairi? During that scene, a light briefly flashes as Kairi is trapped under a Shadow pile and the Riku is there pulling her up with all of the Heartless destroyed. He doesn't have his own Keyblade out at this point in time, so what destroyed them? We present the idea that the light that shone as Kairi was trapped was Kairi's Keyblade coming to her aid, and in that moment Riku grabbed it before giving it to Kairi. It's so dumb, but so damn simple.

I agree with this so damn much. It makes so much sense and it's SO DAMN SIMPLE. They didn't exactly give this Headcanon a name so I will myself.HEADCANON UNLOCKED: DELIVERY BOYThis does not belong to me blah blah blah fair use chicken leg soylent green is made of people DON'T HURT ME MASTER SPOCKANORT

You act like they visit this site, haha.

On topic, I guess this makes sense.

I've seen some members on both sites. Heck I was registered there for a couple years before I came here. Never hurts to have two different KH sources of info.

I mean Master Spockanort.

We are friends, but I doubt that any of their staff members actually check our forums, like ever.

It is stupid, but it's the only sensible solution we got at this point. Maybe it was having trouble materializing so Riku gave it a bit of a "push"...or tug or whatever. Point is he may have helped in bringing it out.

And yeah, there has been at least one instance of Riku holding onto both Sora's Keyblade and his own during the final battle with Xemnas, even if it's just for a brief second. Maybe the ability to hold onto two Keyblades isn't that difficult for a Keyblade wielder to do, but at the very least you can only summon as many Keyblades as you have hearts.

Riku actually did have his keyblade before the moment he gave Kairi the other keyblade.

My guess was always that at some point Riku found Aqua's keyblade and gave it to Kairi. She was the only other one to have destiny's embrace.
"didn't have his Keyblade out" means not having his Keyblade in his hand at the moment.Plus, Riku doesn't know where Aqua's Keyblade is at all. No one does except for Xemnas.

Personally, I've been on this team for a while. LOL.

I know some people will probably argue and think that Nomura had a crazier explanation for her Keyblade planned, but I think we already covered the "more in-depth part": with the Keyblade Inheritance Ceremonies we learned about in BbS.

So knowing that Kairi did get the ability to wield from Aqua then, I most definitely believe that Destiny's Embrace is hers, and that Riku just handed it to her via the "Delivery Boy Principle" in KHII, as mentioned above:)
