I really hope that they change his voice during Kh3 and go for a more mature approach. I mean, it doesn't sound anything like KH2 did. It's awkward and high pitched, and it just makes me cringe. 

Another thing that annoys me about KH3D is the part where Riku wakes up in Traverse Town and says,

 

 

"Sora! Sora!? Where are you?"

 

And then Joshua introduces himself and says "Maybe I can help you find your friend, Sora..."

 

And Riku says, "How do you know about Sora?"

Odd voice acting and bad dialogue? Ye

I do think the voice-acting took a noticeable down-curve in DDD. I absolutely despise how they try to replicate the Japanese constantly grunting and hissing at every action. They hardly did that in the first two games yet every time Sora summons the Keyblade it's followed by a 'Hnngh!' or a 'Eengh!' GOD JUST STOP IT. If you watch the videos that show Sora's voice-acting in every game and compare it, almost half of DDD is NOTHING BUT GRUNTING.

 

And yeah, there's no sense of words being annoying. Riku will say Sora's name in every sentence, Sora will say Riku's name in every sentence, Ansem will say darkness in every sentence. It'd be a lot easier to get through if they'd stick with pronouns instead of calling everybody by name all the time. And it's not like I think the voice-acting was bad, Haley Joel and David Gallagher still do pretty bang-up jobs (at least compared to Willa Holland and the other dude as Aqua and Terra) but it's annoying how differently they've done it post-KHII.

I'm gonna be frank- Riku's voice acting was horrendous in DDD. As for Sora, well....to me, he seemed fine. As for his dialouge, however..... eh....I'm not sure a typical 15/16 year old boy would have some of the same reactions that he does.

I didn't have a problem with the voice itself, the reason I despise Sora in 3D is because he is such an idiot. Honestly, everything he says in that game make him sound like he was born yesterday. I severely hope the KH3 has a Sora who competent to be taking on these big tasks, because I would not trust 3D Sora to do anything.

I have never noticed.  I thought I read somewhere (I guess here...) that HJO was trying to sound younger when voicing Sora in DDD.

As for Riku, he sounds the same to me.

I can see where you'd make the argument that he sounds different between KHII Sora and KHDDD Sora, but I think he just used the same tone throughout and the difference in appearances kind of makes it seem like his voice is different. Either way, I don't really have an issue with Sora's voice as just the general, odd grunting he's forced to do and the way the dialogue forces him to constantly scream peoples' names all the time. 

 

Actually, probably another problem I have with the dialogue in games post-KHII is the inner dialogue the characters say now. Before, it was all done in text so it wasn't really intrusive. Now, since they don't really do text in cutscenes anymore, the characters just SAY what could before be seen without being heard. Lines like, 'It's that Dream Eater I let escape...' or stuff like that where he and Riku just notice things and voice them out loud is more than a little annoying. That's also my problem with the 2.5 Coded movie.

Honestly, I thought that Sora's voice was just fine!  Haley's always done a great job voicing the character, and I've no doubt in my mind he'll do an excellent job for Kingdom Hearts III, especially since Sora's going to be more mature now!

It was the result of Haley trying to sound 14 again because Sora was in his younger body. Since Sora is 15 again in KH3 and more mature it won't be an issue.

Yeah, have you heard the one line he did as KH2 Sora in 2.5? It sounds pretty damn good.

I don't even pay much attention to how voices sound. As long as I enjoy the game (uhh, dying a lot still counts), then I consider the game good.

I have something on the personality shift too. I always figured that his more serious attitude in KH2 was Roxas' angst coming through and that now that he's dormant 3D SOra acts more.like KH1 Sora. But that's just me.

I guess that could explain it but I've always felt that that excuse gave the writers too much credit lol

plus I feel like even KH1 Sora wasn't as annoyingly happy-go-lucky as he was in 3D. whatever the case I hope he's not such an air head in KH3. I'm fine with him having a cheerful personality but in 3D it was just grating.

Sounds fine to me. My only issue is the new Mickey voice sounding a little awkward to me. I'll get used to it though.I agree that Sora should not act so surprised about everything though. I don't think I've ever seen a teenager act like that.

Nomura specifically stated Re:coded takes place immediately after KH2, 3D takes place immediately after Re:coded and KH3 will take place immediately after 3D. To put it another way, Re:coded takes place as soon as Mickey Donald and Goofy return to Disney Castle, 3D happens right after Sora, Riku, Kairi receive Mickey's letter, and KH3 will happen right after Mickey explains what happened with him and Aqua in the Realm of Darkness, which he will do as soon as Sora gets back from thanking his Spirits. There hasn't been a time skip since the one between CoM and KH2, and as we all know anime/video game characters never age without a time skip, the obivious exception being Red from Pokémon Origins. Nomura also already confirmed Sora isn't physically any older in KH3 than he was in 2, specifically pointing out that the two models are proportionately the same. He's talking about emotional maturity, not physical.

To be honest, the only voice in DDD that annoyed my was Shiki. She sounds like an anime on helium.

On topic, I kinda felt like the idea was for Sora to sound 14 again, and with a 23 or so year old voice actor....yeah...

Riku sounded alright, but Gallagher always sounds okay in my opinion: he's a good voice artist, and should do more work.

And slightly off topic, everyone keeps saying Aqua was badly voiced, but I swear it sounds fine to me. If it's vapid and wistful...that's kinda the point.
