Anime | Manga The best series of Digimon?

Recommended Posts

Tough question. For me it's a tie between Digimon Adventure 02 and Digimon Frontier.

Digimon Adventure 02 because I love that the relation of Davis and Veemon is very similar to the one of Tai and Agumon, and to see how they become really good friends is amazing. The story is also very good, and it's cool that the characters of Digimon Adventure appear there too.

Digimon Frontier is completely different, since the main characters have no digimon partners, but become digimon themselves, and I think that's really cool. And as far as the story goes Digimon Frontiers has the best one besides Digimon Adventure, in my opinion.

Darn, I was going to say the original Digimon Adventure!  In that case, I would say Digimon Frontier. It has kick'n theme song, a likable cast of characters, and brought something new to the series.Digimon Tamers was... okay. It probably has my favorite cast characters out of the whole series, but the show kind of got weird after a while.

I can't stand Digimon Adventure 02. It has a lot of cool ideas (going back-and-forth to the Digital World, armor digivolving, etc.), but I didn't like the characters. At the time, I just wanted a second season with the old characters (which I sorta got with T.K. and Kairi), but the original guys were just downgraded to cameos. Yoli, Cody, and Ken were annoying and just got in the way. And Davis... oh, Davis... he can rot a pile of Etemon poo for all I care.

Besides the original Digimon Adventure.

Still gunna say 01. It's been a while since I watched the entire series but maybe Tamers or Frontier comes second...  :P

But my least favourite is definitely 02. I've never been able to finish the entire season without taking weeks of breaks. It felt like a chore to watch. Cool ideas I guess but never really executed properly?

Edit: I just remembered that I can't even watch the 3rd half of Our War Game. The whole of 02 just feels so weird to me.

Just... Watch adventure 01 and 02, then if you are fine with naked kids and this whole "Biomerge" thing, you can watch Digimon Tamers. Don't watch Spirit Evolution, trust me.

Oh, asking about the best other than Adventure...

The best one I'd have to say was Digimon Data Squad. Marcus was the best. He just punched Digimon with his bare hands, instead of just letting the Digimon do the fighting like the others. Again, just my opinion. :)

Fusion and Fusion Hunters were kinda upsetting, especially when I found out it was Gumdramon, even though it seriously looked like Veemon in this one picture without the bottom half of him. That was an evil, huge troll to me. And the "All six heroes come together" thing was kinda cool, but the majority of Digimon just looked dumb, like Sephirothmon, that one gross cat-faced thing that stole others' clothes to make costumes, not to mention how disturbingly dark the series was as a whole, with that one digimon who wanted to make friends with all of the kids in the school to create this "Summoning Circle." Man, that was just horrible. I don't reccomend either season of Fusion.

Yep, so the best one is Data Squad in my opinion.

Haha, so you knew. xD But yeah, I just seem to like it a lot better than the rest for some reason. And unlike some other people have said, I actually preferred Adventure 02 over 01. I mean, 01 was still great, don't get me wrong. It's just that I seemed to grow a better bond with season 02's cast more than 01's.

I am a huge fan of digimon, rewatched all the series a few years back when I was now getting into anime, that said the best imo is Digimon 01,02 was good(only cause of season 1 characers) but I couldn't care less about the main cast aside from Hikari and T.K.

Basically what he said^ in regards to O2

Anyway,Digimon Tamers has to be the second best

Even if Adventure was counted, I'd still say Tamers was the best. It got dark as it progressed, characters have great character development, bio merge music gave me the chills, and I love how everything connects.02 was crap compared to most seasons. The only good things that came out of it was the Digimon Kaiser (ken eventually), Veemon, and BlackWargreymon. The plot holes and "oh mah gerd we can't kill real Digimon" was some of the thing I found stupid about it. Epilogue? We don't talk about that.

Basicaly what he said^

Xros wars and Xros 2 was similar to my opinion on Digimon 01 and 02.Xros wars was pretty good for me,espically how shoutmon started to resemble mechas lol but the the epsiode with all the heroes from the various series meeting up alone made Xros wars 2 worth watching imo.

Digimon Savers(Thomas should of been the main character) has to be my least favourite in terms of characters but I did love how they went for a more mature audience since all the characters were older.

Digimon Froniter wasn't the best but it was good, not as good as 01 and Tamers but around the level of Xros wars.

I'm guessing you watched it on Kix, cos you're a similar age to me. I personally think Tamers is the best, but Data Squad has a special place in my heart. And obviously 01 but we're not allowed to mention that xD The death of Eldradamon still gets me :

I've only seen the first four seasons, and my personal favorite is definitely Frontier!  In fact, its my second favorite anime, right behind Higurashi.  I love all of the characters (for me, Zoey/Izumi is the only likeable female cast member in all of the Digimon series), how they stay in the Digital World for the whole season (except for the first and last episodes), and that they actually turn into Digimon!  It also seems to be more adventure and fantasy oriented, which is a huge bonus!

I also feel that I'm one of the few that actually hates Tamers.  The characters are either annoying or forgettable, and they were hardly in the Digital World!  Then again, I barely remember anything from this season; it was so boring. z.z

As for 02, I kinda like it.  I actually like Davis/Daisuke, Ken, and their Digimon partners, but the other new characters were rather forgettable.  I think I'm also one of the few that dislikes Hikari and TK; I just found them to be kinda full of themselves here.  The other characters from 01 aren't in here very much, so you might be disappointed in that.  The story's okay, but not as good as Frontier.  The last few episodes were especially weird.  It definitely has problems, but for what it was, its okay.

Also, am I the only one that thinks that Sora and Tai look a lot alike?  Heck, I remember when I first got Kingdom Hearts and saw Sora, I honestly thought it was Tai in a different outfit.  Hey, don't judge; I was a little kid!

Other than the Frontier part, yeah, that's exactly what I thought. Davis (Daisuke) and Ken were pretty awesome, and to be honest, yeah, TK and Kari were definitely full of themselves, I think Gatomon and Patamon were as well. Just because they thought they had more "Experience" than Veemon was just mean. And really, it wasn't Veemon or Davis's fault for the issues. If TK and Kari, and them alone always disagreed with Davis, if they had been a little nicer or something, Davis probably would have been more chill around TK. Same kinda applied with Fusion Hunters: Shoutmon was being a jerkwad towards Gumdramon just because Shoutmon believed that he himself had better "experience" than him to take care of more opponents. These "original digimon acting better than" sort of deals really bother me. (Not Adventure 01)I mean, this entire post isn't my 'Exact' opinion, but for the most part, it fits well.

Oh, I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who thought TK and Kari were full of themselves in 02 :)  And yeah, Gatomon and especially Patamon were full of it too (I meant to add that, but I forgot :P)

Yeah, I really hated that one episode where Daisuke (sorry I prefer their Japanese names) and Veemon were training so that Veemon could Digivolve, and everyone was making fun of them because they couldn't get it right away!  (I don't remember the episode's name or number though; I haven't seen 02 in a few years)

Yeah, I felt that the gang (except for Ken) were a bit too harsh with Daisuke most of the time, especially TK and Kari!  And I felt that Kari kinda led Daisuke on; if she wasn't interested in him, she should have just told him right away!  Then, Daisuke wouldn't have been jealous of TK and we wouldn't have had that little love triangle bit.

Like I said, I've only seen the first four seasons, so I don't know anything about Fusion Hunters.

That's fine you don't agree with everything I've said; we all have different opinions after all. :D

*Um, I was trying to respond to SteVentus, but it didn't work.  I pressed the quote button underneath his post, but apparently that didn't work.  If someone could tell me how to, I'd really appreciate it!

(Yep, I think we'll get along just fine!)Ah, yes, the episode where Veemon becomes ExVeemon. That was one of my favorite episodes of that entire season. Here it is. Hope to either bring back good memories, and not bad ones. :)http://youtu.be/l5w97_TsSewI thought the people turning into digimon would've been cool, but somehow it felt to me like they did something wrong. I was hoping for more of a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon kind of thing for that, where the kids would become rookie stage digimon like Agumon, Veemon, Biyomon, etc. *sigh* I guess the human part about the digimon they turned into just didn't feel as cool to me. Oh well, they did make something I guess. xD

*To SteVentus

(since the quoting doesn't seem to be working for me)

Aw, thank you so much! :3

Thanks for the link!  That's fine you really like the episode.  I do like that Daisuke and Veemon bond and seeing the latter evolve into ExVeemon, I just didn't like how the others were treating them.  Don't worry, I try to think of the positives before the negatives (unless the negatives are just really bad!)

Ah, I see what you mean.  That would have been really interesting to see!  Although, there is an episode in Frontier where Takuya goes back to the human world for a little bit, and he turns into a Digimon (I believe his form's name is Flamemon?)  Its really cool to see it, and I do wish I could have seen more of it, but I still enjoy the season greatly.

Speaking of Mystery Dungeon, I knew that they made an anime of it, but they only released one episode of it in the U.S.  Did they ever continue it in Japan, or did they cancel it?  I hope not, because it looked really cool!

Im going to have to go with data squad, 02 pooped on the original series, specially that ending, while frontier's theme just took away the dynamic of what made digimon awesome, bonding with a new friend and placing faith in each other to reach new heights, not to mentionbeing the first to touch upon the royal knights and going no where with it( thank god for data) havent seen xros, and tamers was good, just a little too dark for a digimon series... Who am i kidding , loved beelzemon.
