nomura said the BBS 0.2 and to a lesser extent X back cover is a taste of KH3. in other words its a KH3 demo

Yeh I have read that. It is still possible for a demo with Sora this time :).

If there will be a demo I think it is most likely FFXV.

BBS 0.2 may be already a demo for KH3. If you look it that way.

That's the only demo we're getting, or so I think.

0.2 IS a KH3 demo.

0.2 both IS and ISN'T a KH3 Demo. Depending on how you look at it. Nomura said that it is running on the same software as KH3, and the trailer alone was more than enough proof of that. And I believe he also said that the HD cutscenes for X Back Cover will be using the same stuff, so we'll get a bit more exposure to how cutscenes will look in KH3 as well. So in that regard, we will be getting a taste of KH3. However, X Back Cover is only a cutscene archive of a different story far into the past. And even though 0.2 will be using most of KH3's gameplay, Nomura also said that they were incorporating a little of KH3 AND a little of Birth By Sleep, meaning that the game will play as a sort of hybrid between Birth By Sleep and KH3. This might mean that a lot of the basic movements and use of dynamic action in place of command prompts from KH3 might be present, while attacks might still be executed through the use of Deck Commands. It would make sense if they're going for a hybrid, as the last few main title games have used the Command Deck system as their primary means of gameplay, and odds are as far as HD titles go, KH BbS Final Mix HD and KH DDD HD will be the most recent games anyone has played before touching 0.2 (you can't just dive right into it man, gotta save it for last, savor that next gen tech demo like a sweet sweet salty ice cream bar ;3 ), so it would make for a natural progression from Deck Commands to the Evolved Menu Commands (my own little dub). Plus, as short as it is, it's a game in it's own right and deserves to have it's own identity beyond "Kingdom Hearts 3 Ground Zeroes", so a gameplay style as unique as that is certainly fitting. HOWEVER! Because the gameplay style is a HYBRID of KH BbS and KH3, that means that the experience we are getting is NOT a true KH3 experience, but rather a modified version of it. In that regard, it is not a "true KH3 demo". But in many ways it could be considered one, it just depends on how you want to look at it. I find that a lot of fans tend to be pretty dismissive when it comes to the idea of any potential title that isn't KH3 becoming real (2.8 was regarded as such until Square announced it), and because of that I feel that everyone is trying to do the same thing with a KH3 demo (or 2.9 or whatever you would call it) by saying that 0.2 is the KH3 demo we should anticipate and nothing else. While it is likely that it might be all we get before a full release of KH3, but I am just as open to the possibility of Nomura doing another backflip and releasing legit KH3 demo titled "2.9" with a short prologue. After all, he said that 2.9 would be realized after KH3, but he didn't specify whether that meant after it's released or after it's finished. He could very well just give us that missing 0.1 as a 2.9 demo of KH3 a few months after KH3's development is finished and a few months before it's release. But even if that didn't happen, I suppose 0.2 is enough of a treat to sate our appetites until KH3 finally arrives.

i will still call it a demo, it sounds like all the qualities of one but just a little different.

But it isn't. as the technology and nowhere has it been confirmed it is a KH3 demo. It is its own thing. Besides, I don't think there will be a KH3 demo ever.

of course they wouldn't call it a demo because its a new story, but gameplay, tech, and length wise it is.

In that sense it is. Overall, it's its own thing.

lol but it wasn't going to be....

Nomura: "That concept itself is living on as a setup, so it was our plan to show it at the beginning of [KHIII], but since the volume of material in [KHIII] has increased, I was thinking it was something we just touched on a little."

He's got ya there. X)"

But I will say this, while it was originally meant to be part of KH3, and thus it can technically considered a "demo", it's still been heavily modified and will serve to be it's own thing separate from, yet connected to, KH3. So like I said, it both is and isn't a KH3 demo.

We did not know that until Nomura told us (even I once assumed it would be covered in KH3). It could have been assumed that he would cover it in KH3 before we knew HD2.8 existed, but now we know it's its own thing thanks to its revelation at the pre TGS conference.
