Why isn't this multiplatform exactly? and a bit of dissapointment

Recommended Posts

Now I don't have an X-Box One or a PlayStation 4 I'm a PC Gamer(With a PC that can eat both of the current gen consoles for breakfast), but I would like to ask the question why isn't this multiplatform?

1. Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming to the Xbox One and considering the datalogs within Kingdom Hearts 3D wouldn't it be a great way to break in the Xbox fans that may or may not have played Kingdom Hearts before increasing your sales numbers.

2. It wouldn't necessarily be a hard port while not an incredibly easy port I don't imagining it taking up so much money the pay off wouldn't be worth it, and on a side note why isn't the HD Version of 3D on the Wii U exactly I mean it is a 3DS game, the Wii U is a HD console, the Wii U is pretty much a giant DS and can be used as such, or are they saving it for the NX or something idk.

Now on to my dissapointment with this Kingdom Hearts 2.8 bundle, while I think the bundle is going to be very good and I'm glad we are getting a taste of that Kingdom Shader, I'm dissapointed that 2.8 was just a remake of 3d, an KH X(backcover), and birth by sleep 0.2, I honestly felt that they should have included KH 1.5 and 2.5 in there and ported it to well the Xbox One, PS4, and hell even the PC to show how serious they are in tapping these markets with great potiental in them if they did it right.

Also considering the fact that alot of PS4 were previous 360 owners who have may or may not have played KH back in the day, or have a PS3 and I feel like they really left a potiental market untapped.

  • JRPG's don't usually sell well on Xbox consoles.
  • Square Enix decided to release Kingdom Hearts 3 on PS4 and Xbox One cause it was E3 2013 and they couldn't predict which would do better. It's possible that they regret their decision and releasing it on the Xbox One now
  • There are two reasons why the HD remake of DDD isn't coming to WiiU: 1. The folks at Square Enix don't really like that console much, 2. Releasing it on the WiiU wouldn't fix the problem that the Kingdom Hearts series has had for a LONG time. The spreading out of the games exclusively on gaming consoles. Now, to play all the games, you only need a PS3, a PS4 and a phone. Before, if you wanted to play all the games, you needed a PS2, DS, PSP, 3DS, IOS/Android Phone and a PS4/Xbox One. I'm sure the better option is obvious.
  • Dream Drop Distance's gameplay heavily integrated the touch screen of the 3DS. The PS4 is the only console that has something to replace the touch screen: the touch pad on the controller. Obviously, the WiiU would be fine, but it wouldn't be a good idea to release it on the WiiU for reasons I mentioned earlier.

1. Not that I disagree with you, but it's an overarching (and circular) issue. Japanese companies were biased against it, resulting in fans of Japanese games not buying it. Whenever a Japanese publisher does release a game on it, it doesn't sell that well because the initial bias crippled the chances of high sales on the console line by pushing the fanbase away from it.

2. Or it's because big name + cheaper than ever ports = money. Why would they "regret" a decision that would get them money? They're a business. As long as the port recoups costs and then some, it's worth it.

4. The touch screen is suplementary; outside of the map on the bottom screen, it's just used for Reality Shifts and Dream Eaters. None of it seems like it would be hard to re-map to use a conventional controller. Heck, my bet's on them having done that for the PS4 version.

Anyway, to answer the main question: 2.5 didn't sell all that well. II.8 has even less content at a higher price-point. The most likely reason it's not on anything else is because Square doesn't think it's going to do super well on PS4 in the first place.
