Kingdomhe 1,362 Posted September 15, 2015 i mean seriously why? they didn't put 1.5 or 2.5 on it so no one will know what is going on in Kh3 and 2.8 is basically them saying screw xbox. plus, if they where going to go though the trouble of remaking 70% of 3D, make a new story movie, and a entirely new game, they easily could have ported 1.5 and 2.5 to xbox one. so tell me why its on there cuz i think its a big waste of money for them....... i say they should cancel it. lol
xKlonoaVenx 11 Posted September 15, 2015 Well you have to remember, the kh series has been going on since the 6th generation of consoles so when the newer generations arrived, the fanbase kinda split onto their own preferred system. So it makes sense in my eyes when put like that, and hey everyone gets to enjoy KH3. For the people who havent played the other games, they could read and watch them to understand or if they really want to, they could shell out some money and buy a ps3 and buy the collections since ps3's are about to be dirt cheap soon. Same deal with the final fantasy franchise, it happened with them as well. Also, most importantly its about the money of course
MasterRoxas13 340 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) I believe Square made a deal with Sony ( or the other way around) to bring all the remixes to PlayStation home consoles ( PS3 or PS4 ). In the end Square is going to regret this deal since sales of KH3 on the Xbox One will be way way smaller on the XB1 compared to the PS4 ( think Metal gear solid 5 but worse) because the fanbase is no where near that strong on Xbox consoles and they have no idea what happen in the story since all the remixes are on PlayStation home consoles ( You see how Square shot themselves in the foot). Unless those Xbox fans own another or multiple consoles/platforms, there is no way Xbox fans are going to get the story. Added on to the fact the Xbox One is selling like crap in Japan. They would have better sales if they never made that deal and port 1.5 and 2.5 to Xbox 360 and 2.8 to XB1. But at this point even KH3 could sell better on the Wii U compared to the Xbox One ( due to majority of Nintendo fans own both their home consoles and their handhelds , and the series has been on Nintendo handhelds added on to the fact Nintendo fans usually own more then one console). The extra development cost and hard work would have payed off way better if they just ported to the Wii U instead of the One but third party are avoiding the Wii U like the plague so Square ended making a noob move with the decision to decide which system they should port KH3 to. Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted September 15, 2015 yea before 2.8 was announced it made sense because the cutoff point with the introduction of the PS4 and XBox One left some room for KH fans to split up and choose the console they wanted and still be able to play KH3 when it was done. Now with the announcement of the most story important games being put into a collection for PS4 only (unless it's revealed as a multiplat title at TGS) it gets rid of that easily accessible bridge for the fans and they'll still be confused when they get KH3. Setrex 1,031 Posted September 15, 2015 It just seems to be a thing Square Enix feel they need to do in order to make money. It's silly I know considering how the HD collections are on either PS3 or PS4, but it's not hard to see why companies think like this. If you look at arguably Square Enix's upcoming three flagship titles (from Japan), Final Fantasy XV is multi-platform, Dragon Quest XI is multi-platform and Kingdom Hearts III is multi-platform. Honestly, the lack of remasters on the Xbox just shows how the system is viewed. It's pretty common knowledge that Nomura has never been a fan of the system, but from a Western outlook, Square probably feel that they need their big titles to be on both systems. At the time when XV and KH3 were announced for Ps4 and Xbone no one knew how the systems were gonna fair, but the fact that they were revealed at the Sony E3 conference in 2013 speaks of their relationship with Sony in the long run. Remember when the PS3 was struggling in the West they more than likely decided it might be smarter for FF13 to go multi-platform rather than PS3 exclusive (which is was originally announced as). So basically... I dunno probably money. In terms of the HD collections though, it's probably not worth the effort to change things like visual effects that clearly represent buttons on the PlayStation controller (like reaction commands, etc.). I dunno I don't make the decisions at Square. It could be more effort on their part. Eh.

Although on the basis of 1.5, 2.5 and 2.8 I'm not even sure KH3 on Xbone is for anyone. It all depends on how people want to experience the game. Most of the fans will probably buy it on PS4, but there is nothing stopping Square Enix from just shipping more copies of the game on PS4 so that it isn't a total waste of resources being on the Xbone. To be honest, I don't mind if KH3 is on Xbone, I just don't want a future game to be exclusive on the system (for whatever reason). Though that's just because I don't ever want to own an Xbox and to not support a KH game would be a shame. TheDanMan 8 Posted September 16, 2015 The game doesn't have to sell super well. All it has to do is break even, and then some. Porting costs are low enough that it wouldn't be too hard. Also, hey! Kingdom Hearts fan here who played 3D and happened to get a working PS3 from a garage sale, and owns an Xbox One instead of a PS4.
The Deathdealer 96 Posted September 16, 2015 Its because they want to broaden the audience for Kingdom Hearts games like FInal Fantasy don't be suprised if they release the games on PC as well.
Sirillia 23 Posted September 16, 2015 The same reason why The Witcher 3 was on ps4.
