New leak shows Kingdom Hearts 2.9 could be an upcoming title for PlayStation 3 & PlayStation 4, + possible Kingdom Hearts III info

It would be really cool if this were the case, but I'm partly guessing that this LinkedIn profile was fabricated.  Still, hmm, a 2.9 . . . .  That could definitely be interesting, but I'm really hoping that they place a greater focus on producing III first, if 2.9 is still in the making.

Remember that this isn't 100% official yet. It is all still entirely possible for KH3 to release next year.

It won't anyway because of FF15.  FF15 and KH3 are the most awaited games ever from Square.

They want people to have money for both, not choose one over another.

 

For KH fans they can still release KH3D HD that people are asking for, making a Final Mix version and turn the game better.

And to make sure the game sells, they could add a KH3 demo in ps4 KH 2.9 version ( just like they did with FF15), while focusing on the real thing.

 

Or maybe add birth by sleep volume 2.  :tongue:

 

Its a win-win scenario anyway

Some people desire attention, but we shouldn't dwell on that. This seems to be legit, but whether this is true or not, we do know that Kingdom Hearts III will be at D23 Japan in November. Taking this into account, we really shouldn't care if this is true or not. We will be receiving information about the game we've been waiting ages for!

Whenever a company denies a specific project is in the works, it's never really conclusive proof of anything.It could either be true, or the company denies it because of embargoes or a NDA. It happens all the time, so just because Nomura said there are no plans for a PS4 collection isn't evidence of anything.

What could SE do to improve 1.5 and 2.5 if it were to be a collection based game? All they could really do is improve the framerate (YES PLEASE) and increase it to 1080p. The only thing I want out of this really is DDD HD, but I would definitely buy the collection again if it hit PS4.

Probably because DDD is the direct predecessor to KH3 (IIRC, KH3 is meant to start where DDD ends.), and Square would want to market it as such. DDD is without a doubt the most important game, story wise, that provides background on the story for KH3 - my guess is that if the game is marketed as something like Kingdom Hearts Re: Dream Drop Distance, Square could be worried players might not be as invested to play it as they may not view it as a key title.

These are some reasons on what I think.

But I'm 50/50 on this so don't murder me

 

 

 

1. K i n g d o m  H e a r t s 2.9 could be one separate game.

I feel that if it were a separate game where it could be a super short game that literally leads into KINGDOM HEARTS III. Like if 2.9 is literally on the edge of the cliff to jump into KHIII. What I mean is that it may be a short game for a prologue of KHIII hence the number 2.9.

 

2. K i n g d o m  H e a r t s 2.9 could be a Dream Drop Distance REMASTER. Why? I mean KINGDOM HEARTS III literally takes place after the events of DDD. The small problem that I have with a DDD REMASTER is that on this leak, it lists { Playstation 3 }. This is probably a small little thing but the 3DS did have pen touch mechanics and the PS3 controller doesn't have that touch pad like the PS4 controller has. It sounds like a dumb problem but you know! Plus this is the only game that didn't join the remaster family with 1.5 and 2.5.

 

Also, didn't SE say that they have no plans for a DDD REMASTER tho? That's another small problem.

 

3. K i n g d o m  H e a r t s 2.9 might just be a small bundle containing a DDD REMASTER and a KINGDOM HEARTS III DEMO. Square Enix could make this work again because they did it with Final Fantasy: Type 0/ Final Fantasy XV DEMO. But the title 2.9 wouldn't make sense right?

Anyways, Square Enix also has a secret title marked on their TGS Lineup so maybe it could be this "K i n g d o m  H e a r t s 2.9 " game.

Some issues I have with this

Nomura said "no new games until KH3"

He also said "No plans to port 1.5/2.5 to PS4" so without any new games or ports/remasters of old games, we have nothing.

 

Also, we have no idea if the issue with Utada has been resolved. Sony wants all PS4 games to have digital downloads. Square does not have rights to digitally distribute any of Utada's songs and therefore cannot legally make any game that has her songs in them available digitally, they'd have to replace them with songs by another artists or simply have no opening/ending songs at all.

If this is somehow something that contains BbSV2 (and hopefully a KH3D thing, as well) then they can sign me up for it right now. I've wanted that game since it was first teased. LOL.

BbSV2 was cancelled. I highly doubt they've been secretly working on it this whole time. KH3D is very likely though.

I will take this with a grain of salt until I heard other wise from an official from Square.  First of all 2.9? That name itself just screams "hold on this is fake" and what will it be? If it's just Dream Drop Distance why not just call it Dream Drop Distance HD or ReMix why keep up with the whole 1.5 and 2.5 theme if it's just for one game.  And if it's 2.5 plus Dream Drop Distance first of all why would they release it back again on the PS3 if all it dose is just add Dream Drop Distance.  While the rest of the report about Pixar in KH3 would be great I'm not really that big on multiplayer in Kingdom Hearts, unless it's like it was for Mirage Arena in Birth by Sleep that would be fun. Like I said I'm taking this with a grain of salt, TGS is just a little over a week away so we shall see what Square will have to say about this

I believe it'll be both 1.5 and II.5, along with DDD. A demo for KH3 is possible, but only on on the PS4 version (since it mentions a version for both PS3, and PS4).BbSV2 wouldn't make sense as a previously stated. If anything such a game would be it's own release (possibly for the Vita, as BbS was for PSP).UX is also unlikely, as it doesn't seem like a console game. And since it's free to play (with in app purchases) it wouldn't make sense to include it in a disc format, but it'd make sense to release it on PSN/Live as a free to play game if they really felt like it.
