What If young Xehanort betrays his older self?

Yeah I know, it may sound illogical but I can't see myself sora fighting the old coot in the ending of KH3, but  sora fighting young xehanort sound way cooler to see.

In the Kingdom Hearts universe, you cannot change your destiny. Meaning, you can't change the future. So Young Xehanort betraying his older self is pretty much unexpected to happen. By the way, Sora will most likely battle against old Master Xehanort but what's stopping him from fighting Young Xehanort? It can still happen.

This retcons and ruins things.  People can't fuse that much in the KH universe, 13 hearts in 1 body? They'd all be fighting for control over the body and never accomplish things.

 

He has no reason to betray himself, it's silly. Sora may fight YX tho, I would like to see that mainly because they are in the same weight category. I know that sounds strange but the battle would flow SO well because of that. Remember Sora vs Riku in KH1? Vanitas vs Ven? How good those battles felt because both opponents were the same size?

Wouldn't he betray himself if he betrays the old Xehanort? I mean MX is his future self, so no reason to betray him. Besides, that would create another retcon.

Like others have said, he would only be betraying himself. Master Xehanort is his future self.

I don't think they'll fuse, but something will happen and one of the Xehanorts (probably the old one) will turn into NoHeart or something like that (he and the Armour of the Master are the only non-Disney/Final Fantasy/Heartless secret bosses that haven't appeared as mayor plot characters in a future KH game, just think about it, KHFM had Xemnas, KH2FM+ had Terra, KHBBS had Young Xehanort...). Anyway, even if NoHeart doesn't appear, we can still expect to see the final boss wielding the X-blade, which makes him powerfull enough to be considered the final boss of the Seeker of Darkness Saga.

The only person who really clings to the whole "destiny" thing is Xehanort himself, which would set up a great moment of irony if the person who defied destiny was the younger version of himself. Personally, if Xehanort Jr. decided he didn't like the person he'd become, I think it would be good for a character that has otherwise remained stale for most of his life.

Replying to Ninjas Joint: but it`s not different hearts, it`s all pieces of Xehanort`s heart right? so he could fuse. and besides Sora has had (spoilers, I guess) multiple hearts inside of him at the same time so I think it`s possible. I don`t know what to expect for the final battle, but it had better be awesome!

There has been moments when people have changed Destiny in KH. Mainly in terms of Disney related things, like Iago changed his destiny at the end of KH2 where he had enough of Jafar and tried to become a better parrot to Aladdin and friends. His first destiny was to be trapped in a lamp as he was a bad guy. Also, that FF character in the underworld changed his destiny by defying Hades and planning his own story. So Destiny can change if a person lets it, even in KH!

Yeah, but when we say destiny, we basically mean the future. Iago never changed his destiny because it was always his destiny to forget about Jafar. It just needed time. Same goes for Auron.

I suppose Xehanorts destiny may have slightly altered with the possession of the "oldest Keyblade in existence". Aside that variable, there's no reason to betray himself.
