BH6 - what's to hype about?

Recommended Posts

Now I'm not saying I don't enjoy Big Hero 6 (although the movie should've just been called baymax)

But I was amongst the few who didn't want it in kh series. One of my biggest reasons for that is the lack of defining features. The world is really just a regular urban city resembling some of Tokyo and some of San Francisco (although you can clearly tell Tokyo isn't dominating).

I would've preferred Baymax as a summon simply because he's best suited at it. He's a fighter and a healer. He can heal sora or sora can ride him as a form of attack.

But I personally think it's a waste of a world in y honest opinion. There is probably only one particular area that stood out in the film. But other than that I don't play kh to go to a modern urban city with barely advance tech.

I just want to understand the "hype". Enemy wise, that masked man most likely won't return since it was confirmed that this will take place after. And since all he did was to save his daughter, bringing him back would be pointless.

So really the more you look at big hero 6 world, the less there is. Anything that I can see doesn't seem to fit KH and more of a Big Hero 6 game on it's own.

I wouldn't really call it a 'regular' city, cause it's a little futuristic. Now that we'll be able to freely move around the worlds, instead of having areas within a world separated by loading screens, the entire city of San Fransokyo will be an amazing world to explore. Imagine the possible ability of being able to even reach the hot air balloons above the city with either the use of Keyblade Gliders or flying Baymax himself. Plus, the city of this world is what will make it a recognizable landmark out of all the worlds and will make it stick out, y'know, something new and refreshing.

Another reason why we're looking forward to this world is that it'll have it's own story that will take place after the events of the movie. So, it won't be just an abridged version of the movie.

And, Baymax was adorable and awesome at the same time. With a great character like him, he's a character that we really want to see again.

San Fransokyo is an amalgamation of Tokyo and San Fransisco. That in itself is a unique world for Kingdom Hearts 3, so, you're wrong in calling it a "regular city". Fun fact, did you know that San Fransokyo is so big that it is the size of Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen's world combined. That alone demonstrates the amount of content and data that is available for Kingdom Hearts 3. To add to this, San Fransokyo is the first world based on Japan so it'd be special for Square Enix!

Look, you don't have to be part of "the hype". Hype is a interpretationally personal feeling. If you're not feeling San Fransokyo, get excited for Tangled. You shouldn't "feel hyped" just because everybody else is. Big Hero 6 is also the biggest technical challenge for Square Enix too so that's saying something. And besides, Square could either find another reason to revive Robert Callaghan as a villain, or, have a new character wear the Kabuki mask to be antagonistic. Give it a chance.

I'm not totally sure why I'm so hyped...

I personally really like the design of San Fransokyo. Maybe that's because I live in a small village a few hours away from anywhere super big? I dunno... but I find the whole city really interesting.

Also I really enjoyed the movie and its characters so the fact that we can see them in game and interacting with my favourite trio is cool.

I just love Big Hero 6 and I love Kingdom Hearts I guess?  :)

Because...

The city will look beautiful on the Unreal Engine 4,

The world be huge and fun to explore

KH has never had a modern or futuristic city world

Since it's a city, there will be actual NPCS we can talk to and most likely have side quests for us to do.

We get to fly around one of these huge worlds from above which is something we've never done before

Baymax is a really good character and fighting alongside him will be extremely fun

The plot of the world is completely original,

The world plot doesn't rip off the Disney movie,

The world plot shows Master Xehanort doing something evil which gives Sora and also us incentive to be mad at Xehanort. Ansem, Xemnas and the others have all done terrible things to Sora, but not Master Xehanort himself.

A completely original boss fight

Because...

The city will look beautiful on the Unreal Engine 4,

Doesn't sound like something related to the game itself.

The world be huge and fun to explore

Such as? I mean....other than typical sites seeing (which personally i think its worthy of such in its own game). Sure, there's that sky scene...but at this point, we just dont have worlds just to have. What specifically did San Fransokyo offer?

KH has never had a modern or futuristic city world

I think that was a good thing. Or at least that was always there. The series has always leaned on the more apparent "fantasy" aspect. Each world had a sense of wonder and drasitcally different from "our" modern world. The world like San fransokyo is much much closer to our world, and our world lacks the "magic" and "wonder". And it caters more to the Comic-book lover than the hardcore disney. The best we had was Tron, and that was done tastefully.

Since it's a city, there will be actual NPCS we can talk to and most likely have side quests for us to do.

I feel like the marvel of this is just to see a physical city with moving NPCs? In to which i would say. Whats so great about that? And why does this make BH6 a better world over the rest?

We get to fly around one of these huge worlds from above which is something we've never done before

Who knows how much access we really have of the world. San fransokyo so far from what i've seen in the movie was barely touched upon. We may not get the whole city (which i hope, it would be a waste to dedicate so much space for just one world)

Baymax is a really good character and fighting alongside him will be extremely fun

Baymax is indeed a good character and i already stated i enjoyed the movie. But to me, that just doesn't mean he should be in the movie. I also enjoyed finding nemo, but i wouldn't want a world.

The plot of the world is completely original,

Many other Disney worlds too. again, feels like it just picking the obvious.

The world plot doesn't rip off the Disney movie,

I wouldn't even call that a bad thing either. After all, thats the charm of the series to add kh original characters alonside donald and goody to show a slightly different story. Ripping off something is too extreme.

The world plot shows Master Xehanort doing something evil which gives Sora and also us incentive to be mad at Xehanort. Ansem, Xemnas and the others have all done terrible things to Sora, but not Master Xehanort himself.

Master Xehanort has. Keep in mind though that Ansem SOD barely did much at all directly toward Sora either. But Sora still continued. I doubt we need BG6 to portray that. Again, pulling a generic reason that can apply to any new world to come.

A completely original boss fight

This is something the series has provided for a long time.

I'm not totally sure why I'm so hyped...

I personally really like the design of San Fransokyo. Maybe that's because I live in a small village a few hours away from anywhere super big? I dunno... but I find the whole city really interesting.

I suppose i can understand this one some-what....but i mean, i would like someone to tell me what their hype is based on.

Combining two cities culture into one is hardly a magical, wonderful, epic world that i feel needs to be explored in a game that focuses on showing off beautiful disney worlds and giving off that magic. And Fun fact: It doesn't matter to me if San Fransokyo is bigger than all those films combined. What makes San Fransokyo worthy of a world to explore. Yeah, i get it, its still a city....just slightly in the near future. but nothing we haven't seen before.

I'm not necessarily excited for any world so far.....And thats all i have been doing for the series....predicting "meh" titles such as Dream Drop Distance and then being proven correct. I just want to know if the hype is within reason, or what are people actually loooking forward to. Before Big Hero 6 was announced, there really was debate of whether it could/should be in the series. So suddenly its annoucned, and not one person is skeptical on what it truly has to offer?

I wouldn't really call it a 'regular' city, cause it's a little futuristic. Now that we'll be able to freely move around the worlds, instead of having areas within a world separated by loading screens, the entire city of San Fransokyo will be an amazing world to explore. Plus, the city of this world is what will make it a recognizable landmark out of all the worlds and will make it stick out, y'know, something new and refreshing.

Ok....again, like before, this sounds more like the challenge of technical side more than looking forward to something specifically for San Fransokyo. Personally, part of the charm of the series when it came to its worlds was that each area that loaded up had key landmarks and interesting aspects. So again, what are you looking forward to specifically that cannot be provided by any other world?

Another reason why we're looking forward to this world is that it'll have it's own story that will take place after the events of the movie. So, it won't be just an abridged version of the movie.

i said this before, but i dont think thats a bad thing. It looks like it will have to rely on that because the story would be more intrusive. its not like we didn't have original stories before. Tron,

And, Baymax was adorable and awesome at the same time. With a great character like him, he's a character that we really want to see again.

Me too....in his own game....or at least as a summon.

...Sora riding Baymax to fight Evil Baymax is literally the top of the list.

IF it wasn't for that concept art, perhaps we wouldn'thave expected that, but it makes you think what happened to Hiro.

Plus, San Fransokyo was extremely interesting of a city, and a breath of fresh air from the quaint towns we are already used to.

Which is probably why i'm not liking the idea....as Kingdom Hearts had developed. a certain culture within itself with the choice of worlds it had taken. For example: Even though Birth by Sleep had the futuristic space ship world, there was still plenty of Disney classic worlds such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and much much more.

Although the KH original worlds are the more interesting towns. They definitely relied on the fantasy aspect that really ties Kingdom Hearts together. Having a world that lacks that feels really off. To me, this feels alien more than a breath of fresh air.

Really, this was more of an excuse for everyone to really tell me what they expect out of BH8, and it looks like not many people expect much at all....it sounds more like just because its in there, it's a free pass.

I remember back when Birth by Sleep was around, there was some worry that the worlds would be too similar. Granted they made each world significantly different. Here i'm more worried about what San Fransokyo itself has to offer as a "world" more than just another story with Disney.

(ALSO KEEP IN MIND: i personally believe that PIxar should be nowhere near Kingdom Hearts series. I love all Pixar movies, but they never felt Disney like in my eyes as it relies more heavily on the western culture. While Disney had always focused more on other cultures. So to me, San Fransokyo is the middle ground for japanese and americans to have their own, lack luster of magic world.

I feel like a lot of people ignore the bigger bulk of the issue because, like i said, i'm in the same boat. But that doesn't make me "jump" into it right away. as i believe world-coice is "sacred" in the KH series. I always saw there was a lot of reason behind not seeing Pixar in KH.

I'm also not as hyped about it, as I wasn't super wild about the film, but at the same time, the thing that caught my eye was the fact that they weren't planning on just redoing the film's plot for the game. Mostly I'm hoping that's a trend for all of KH3.

Big Hero 6 is not made by Pixar, that's like Frozen - made by Disney itself. Inside Out is Pixar.

it felt like a pixar movie and that's the main point.

Honestly, I'm hyped for any news. I'd be hyped if they announced they were including a Frozen sing-along world, idc.

But I think the thing that's really interesting to me is the idea that they're not just adapting the movie. The BH6 world will be, essentially a sequel. The only other world to kind of pull that off (besides Space Paranoids or any of the Disney worlds on the second visit in KHII, which I don't really count) would be Halloween Town in KHII and I think it was done very well. It adds a whole new layer to the standard shtick of visiting a world, going through the same motions as the movie it's based on, fighting the villain and that's it; with maybe another visit to deal with a more immediate threat. (Org. XIII, etc.)

Plus, the BH6 world in KHIII will deal with an issue I don't think a film sequel would really touch on and that's Baymax's original body. The idea of corrupting that body with darkness behind the portal and then coming back is an incredible creative way to adapt the film into the KH franchise. It's also smart because, since this is after the film, the team is already formed. I think it'll be really neat and I didn't think Big Hero 6 was the best movie of 2014 (Guardians of the Galaxy would probably take that spot) or anything, but that alone hypes me. I don't think every movie would benefit from doing something like that (What fun would Tangled be without Rapunzel's luxurious locks?) but it's cool to see it occasionally and I hope it becomes more of a trend as we continue to see more recent Disney films adapted in the series.

I don't know what you have against BH6 being in KH3, but those people gave you more than enough reasons, why it's awesome that it will. You asked what's to hype about, and they told you that. You don't have to be hyped for BH6, everyone has his own opinion, but to say they didn't answer your question is not true, in my opinion.

Dave is saying the exact same thing, that they aren't just redoing the plot.

Like I said....people seeing a kh esque sequel is nothing new to KH and I think there should be more. Even though we can clearly tell what the plot will be just by the story.

I'm sorry if it's not exactly a great answer for me, especially since my main concern is big hero 6 as a world. although i did buy the answer for people seeing it as refreshing. Although in my eyes its alien to the series. But other responces were lacking. In which they gave an answer but simply stating the question.

Why are we hyped for big hero 6? Because it's big hero 6.

If I receive my goal for getting treasure planet, and someone asked me why I was so hyped about it, I would give more than the obvious.

First, I've been waiting for it to be in kh for years. The sci-fi steam punk art style fits perfectly into kh and also other more important themes such as opening doors and going into the "heart" of the world. The story was serious and epic and soda joining in could be great. Other possible mini games is riding on the jet and having either Ben or Jim or maybe even morph.

Treasure Planet themed keyblade would be something to look forward to. But considering treasure planet feels more safe than big hero 6, I was hoping a better answer

First off, I can't tell the plot just by the story, but if you can that's good for you.

Second, if you've seen Big Hero 6 and still aren't hyped for it, I don't think you will be just by asking other people.

Third, the reasons they gave you weren't all obvious ones, sure some of them were, but that doesn't make them meaningless or less important.

If you want to hear such reasons, as you gave, here you are: Big Hero 6 was an emotional, epic and funny movie. It was really sad at moments but also full of action. Friendship is a big theme of BH6, like in KH, so it would fit perfectly. A possible mini game, mentioned by Alpha Baymax, could be a fight against the Heros, as a training, like the Data Battles.

You're probably still not hyped yet, but that's ok. I've seen Treasure Planet, read your arguments, and I'm not hyped for it. Everyone has his own opinion, you can't argue about that.

The answer you're giving me isinteresting and at least more effort. But I just don't believe in that world enough. Especially since most Disney worlds don't come with too many mini games. Usually either Disney classic like Mickey and friends or kh original worlds get the most mini games. So data battles realistically isn't something there.

As for themes of friendship, I can see that but since the series is already a sequel, I doubt it will have the same effect as it did in the film when he struggled to rely on friends. Not to mention that friendship is the foundation of all KH. Any world will have some form of friendship involved as a theme. So regardless, I can't see that as a main selling point unless the potential for it being most unique is there.

So you're right, I'm still not hyped for it. My biggest hype for treasure planet however is the fact that it's been available for Disney. Its not like pixar where it's foreign in KH. The wait has been much much longer than for BH6 because it wasn't that long ago that it was released. (and I know BH6 isn't pixar, but the concept of pixar films and BH6 are practically synced).

Its a world we "should've" seen....and if we do finally get to see it. Whether abridged story or sequel or original, it still worthy of the series.

Well, I find the answers of the others interesting, too, but I'm glad you like mine.

We can't argue here anymore, because it's pointless. We just disagree here. I don't care about Treasure Planet, you not about BH6.

Besides, I'd really LOVE to have Pixar Worlds in KH3, so arguing about that point is useless too.

You just have to wait for KH3, to see if the hype we all have for BH6 is justified or not, in your opinion.

Some answers didn't really try to justify it. Some we're flat out honest and said they didn't know. But most felt bought out. For example: San fransokyo being bigger than other films combined. How was that a great point? There were just some that just didn't really see the main point of the topic.

Treasure Planet is one I hope/expect and I personally would prefer it in KH regardless if it was a movie I enjoyed just because it fits perfectly. But it was my personal example of how much....

To me BH6 being added in and announced first rather than last considering how recent the film is just tells me it was a cash out, business move more than a "this is what's best for the series" move.

And considering you want pixar in KH to me shows you could want anything in KH (yet somehow not treasure planet)

What in the world are you talking about? we're expecting grand things from this world. It seems as though you just don't like urban environments and that's shame on you. To add to the specialty of this world, the plot wont be ripped directly from the movie. That's nothing but good news. At the very least, what about the characters? they're all unique in their own manner and under-developed characters like Honey Lemon and Wasabi can be expanded upon in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Hey, I know you like to argue for pages, but this is my last post on this topic:

Pixar movies are ingenious, they're majestic, and they should be in Kingdom Hearts. Just because I want some of them to be in KH3 doesn't mean I want anything in KH3. That's kinda rude to say. I didn't like Treasure Planet, that's the reason I don't care if it's in KH or not.

No need to reply, because I won't answer this time.

I'm not ashamed of having an opinion and looking at it from a different perspective than you. I see beyond. To me not all Disney films or anything labeled with Disney should make it in.What are you expecting exactly out of San Fransokyo? You all say you expect things but no one really says it to justify the hype. I get itI, we will be going to a Tokyo/San fransisco-eque world with a hint of cartoon style. Which in my eyes is nothing more than that. In fact, when I watched BH6, the world itself didn't have much focus on San fransokyo itself. It was mostly background. There was only 2 scenes that really gave it some attention, the car-chase and flying scene. Most of BH6 was in rural areas or abandoned warehouse and then in another dimension. Overall....it will be visually amusing (breathe taking will depend on what time of the day which I assume it will be daylight since most of the film took place in the day). but I was asking what aspects of game play do you expect? The fact that it won't take from the original plot is no big news..it was more of a light confirmation, not a grand announcement...and honestly taking place after the movie or during, it's no big difference in my eyes. Its not like we needed it to be confirmed anyways. Look at the screenshot, it already deviates so much for OK me the original plot wise to be considered different. And it's not like KH ever followed a plot word for word anyways.

Hey, I know you like to argue for pages, but this is my last post on this topic:Pixar movies are ingenious, they're majestic, and they should be in Kingdom Hearts. Just because I want some of them to be in KH3 doesn't mean I want anything in KH3. That's kinda rude to say. I didn't like Treasure Planet, that's the reason I don't care if it's in KH or not.No need to reply, because I won't answer this time.

Their majestic in their own right but theres a clear difference between pixar and disney animation. And the KH series so far has highlighted it perfectly. Although I know majestic is pushing it for all of them. I wouldn't necessarily call the incredible "majestic" or Inside Out. I like to think regardless of what I enjoyed the films or not, if their a good fit for the series isn't. I encourage people to show all of Disney animation (not collaborated with other producers such as toaster"the brave little toaster") on one side and show all of Pixar animation and see the culture clash between. I think most people accepted it as Disney, but visuals don't liem
