Question about the future of the series...

Recommended Posts

I'd rather a new threat be introduced in the next saga and let this saga wrap up its own stories and finally close.

I agree. And my initial thought before posting was that I hope when this game is over, I'm not sitting around with unanswered questions. I deff want this to feel like a conclusion. But then i thought, if they left small things that we hadn't initially thought of, to set up for a new idea.

Like in KH1 when Sora became a heartless and Kairi brought him back..that was cool and everything..but we never expected Roxas to be the result of that. So it didnt feel like a loose string, it just added to the complexity of the series without anybody questioning it.

Is already been confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will have a secret movie at the end of the game. I believe the secret movie will set a brand new Kingdom Hearts game, with a new villain, new threat, new story, and Sora still being the main protagonist.

I too think that KH3 will conclude the Xehanort Saga and we won't see what is to come until the next release into the Kingdom Hearts series.  Of course there could be a secret ending hinting to what's to come, but I'm more inclined to think that they will hold it back with an all-new release since it'll be an entirely different game.  As far as tying up loose threads . . . oh, I should certainly hope so, as I have so many questions that I hope aren't left unanswered.

True, and I felt that they did a fine job of expanding the KH lore when introducing the Nobodies.

However I'd rather SE make these "sagas" stand alone with minimal references to each other for continuity's sake. One KH3 ends the Xehanort saga that should be the last we ever hear of it. From there it's looking forward to a new story that stands on its own and doesn't need to use the previous saga as a crutch.

One thing I'm definitely sure of is that KH3 will raise the bar for how the series evolves into the future, ya know? Looking at the gameplay, this is just step one in KH's attempts to evolve. The second step will be determined by who or what will be the new threat for the next saga, and that, in turn, will probably be revealed in a secret movie! Big changes are coming for the KH series, and it'll be exciting to see where the series goes to from here! :D

Well, Square Enix would definitely have to use Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm properties after Kingdom Hearts 3 (because they'd be using all of the Disney Animation worlds by then). All the Disney Animated that could potentially appear for Kingdom Hearts 4 is Zootopia, Moana and Gigantic.

I agree with what you're saying. We need a proper ending to the saga, but I want there to be a secret ending with a hint towards what comes next. We need things to speculate about. If not, what else would we use this forum for, eh?

There's TONS of animated movies that they haven't touched yet. I would venture to say close to 20, if not more than that, so I really don't see them running out after KH3.

Okay, tell me what could be in Kingdom Hearts 4 that hasn't already been decided for Kingdom Hearts 3 yet?

Frozen, Pocahontas, Lady & the Tramp, Oliver & Company, Treasure Planet (seems heavily implied for KH3 but not confirmed), Hawaii portion of Lilo & Stitch, The Emperor's New Groove, The Black Cauldron, Atlantis, Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Robin Hood, The Rescuers, The Fox & The Hound.... there's more but yeah.

Plus you have several sequels with usable content.

*sigh*....nobody ever mentions The Great Mouse Detective..one of my personal favorites, yet it seems to never get any love..

Aristocats, Brother Bear, The Princess and the Frog, Dumbo (but i'm alright without this world), Bambi (see dumbo), Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Sword in the Stone, 101 Dalmations (actually, i wish they'd do something again like they did in KH1 where you collect them all throughout the worlds, just obviously with something else instead)

woahhh just had a weird idea while writing thisss..What if they did something similar to the Winnie the Pooh book, Ive mentioned something similar to this before. But say its a beaten up book. And throughout the worlds you find treasure chests with things that belong in the book. i.e Mowgli, Baloo, Baghera, Sher kan, Kaa, King Louie, Wolves...anyway..you can visit the hub world and put all of the collected items into the "Jungle Book" and play the world piece by piece like we did with Pooh Bear and his friends..or maybe use a different Disney film bc i really enjoy the jungle book and probably wouldnt want them to miss out on a great opportunity like this..but anyway yeah..something to that effect would be cool.

I see what you're saying..that sounds good actually. In fact..It might be better for a new start so that new people can get into the series without me having to explain the complexities of the first series to them..then if they're interested they can go back and play them for themselves.. I could see it getting annoying to have to say "oh that would make sense if you would've played the other games" ..so yeah I'm all for a new story..although im still not against the secret ending idea..especially if its something really simple that doesn't tease too much or require the future games to have to revert to this series..sort of like sora and co opening the message in a bottle on destiny islands...maybe Sora, Riku and Kairi are in the secret spot on the islands looking at their old cave drawings and that mysterious door creeks open..cut to black..roll credits..

I'm ashamed I forgot Princess & the Frog but I also was trying not to list literally everything haha.

What happens if they're all incorporated into Kingdom Hearts 3? Nomura can't simply "repeat" these worlds for Kingdom Hearts 4.

It'd be pretty unheard of if they incorporated over 20 new Disney Worlds but if they did, I guess that's great for them. But I'm pretty sure they limit the amount to around 12 is so that they don't run into that situation.

It has been confirmed by Nomura that the series will continue and Sora is the main protagonist. After my release, the series gets better. ;)

Let's hope the series will get better. I can imagine 3 will be hard to top.

Yea I think it'd be wise for Nomura to knock down that high barrier to entry that the series has for the newcomers. Definitely would allow them to draw in some more fans. The mementos in DDD were nice but no one wants to put their game on pause to read a wiki article by Nomura.

And now that I think about it I suppose I'd be alright with a small teaser like what you mentioned. Something that gives just enough for the fans to start wildly speculating about. I can already picture the secret ending you came up with cutting to black and having some foreshadowing message like "The next saga lies beyond the door" or whatever. I'm sure we'll get some sort of a tease regardless.
