Salve-SiS 125 Posted August 13, 2015 Is it just me, or are there a lot of similarities between these two guys? Aside from both being blue eyed brunets, they’re both brave, a little naive, friendly, and willing to give a helping hand to those in need. They are willing to sacrifice themselves to save their friends, They also seem to share a disdain for evil, as it is outright stated Sora has a strong sense of justice and Terra shows subtle disdain towards Jumbaa in Deep Space, ignoring him when he first tries to talk to him because well, he’s IN PRISON. Sora shows a great fondness for Winnie the Pooh. Terra was the one who handed the book to Merlin. Sora is friends with Stitch. Terra was the one who introduced friendship to Stitch. Little things, but interesting. Both are targeted as potential vessels by Master Xehanort, and both failed their Mark of Mastery Exams because they were sabotaged. The second example shows an interesting parallel. Whereas Terra needs some space after failing his exam and doesn’t even bother to congratulate Aqua, Sora is disappointed in his failure but is still overjoyed for Riku and congratulates him with an arm around the shoulder. They have a lot in common. Is it all coincidence, or is Nomura deliberately comparing and contrasting these two characters? If so, what does it mean for the future? 3 Riosephmido, janicepibc70 and The Transcendent Key reacted to this
KeybladeLordCheeseCurd 1,542 Posted August 13, 2015 They have some small similarities, but Terra's more similar to Riku, while Ven is similar to Sora. 1 AlixtheMagi13 reacted to this
The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) If current Sora met Terra (the same Terra from Birth By Sleep with the same personality) I don't think they'd get along. I could see Sora finding Terra to be arrogant and gullible. I would like Sora to start seeing people in a different light, rather than him nearly liking every single person he meets. I personally don't think they have many similarities either, Sora is pretty dull, but he's not as dull as Terra. Terra's buff and strong, Sora is scrawny but quick. Sora is full of light. Terra has a lot of darkness inside him, he's also arrogant and quite blunt whilst Sora is kind to everyone he meets. awesomeinmyworld 268 Posted August 13, 2015 It's definitely interesting how Sora and Terra share those similarities. Sora also shares some similarities with MX: growing up on DI and wanting to leave to see new worlds. (However I always got the feeling that Sora wasn't as ready to leave as Riku was). Becoming Heartless of their own volition and maintaining some their memories (although Sora's was fleeting) and becoming walking hearts for a period of time. And Sora's connection with others is an interesting opposite to Xehanort's: MX has many other selves through force and his dark goal while Sora had other selves through his kindness and willingness to take in others. MX's Keyblade and his ability to wield one is a mystery, and while Sora's isn't his Keyblade and ability IS complicated.
EternalChange 303 Posted August 14, 2015 Sora and Terra are actually very similar in a lot of ways. The only difference is that Terra always has to be on top, giving way to his struggle with darkness. It's in that way he's similar to Riku.
Eternalsleep 175 Posted August 14, 2015 I actually didn't notice before now but yeah, your right, sora nearly has as much similarities with terra as he does with ventus. Maybe nomura did want terra to pick up the kingdom key in "The Gathering" trailer. I guess the main difference between them is what eraqus told terra in the begining "your so obsessed with power". The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted August 14, 2015 This is pretty interesting, considering both characters personalities! The difference between them is that while Terra became grim when he failed his Mark Of Mastery, Sora didn't let his failure at the Mark get to him, as he congratulated Riku fullheartedly, which shows just how mature Sora is, ya know? I'm pretty sure that both characters can be able to learn from each other when they meet! Also, very nice observations with the whole Winnie The Pooh/Stitch connections between Sora and Terra! Guest Posted August 26, 2015 Actually, Sora is far more in common with Terra than Riku even as far as the control with darkness. In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Sora struggled to control his darkness.
