Master Keeper 687 Posted August 11, 2015 Hey everybody, How are you doing? Lately I've been playing Batman Arkham City and today I've managed to beat it.I dunno if it was me who was over excited or was the game unexpectedly short? But anyways, I am planning to make a review about Arkham City and compare it to Asylum soon in KH13. However, this thread is actually about Origins. So as I said I've beaten City like hours ago and the game was awesome and many ways but do you think it would be wise to play Origins right after it? Or do you guys suggest that I leave a gap for a little while? Because my vacation might finish soon and I want to finish as much as I can from my video gaming list and since I am still in the mood of Arkham, I had the idea of playing Origins. What do you guys think?I know that some people complained about Origins and some said that it was bad and god some even said that they didn't take it as an Arkham series game but anyways I am just gonna play Origins without expecting that much and that's it. However, as I said I am just not sure if it is suggested to play Origins after City immediately especially after hearing these complaining. and I know, I am repeating the same words over and over and I am gonna shut up and hear you guys 1 Riosephmido reacted to this
Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted August 11, 2015 Don't strain yourself with the gaming, especially with the Arkham Series and it's combat being the same throughout the games. You don't want to get bored. On the other hand: Arkham Origins is pretty good! Despite the initial bugs at release. So you should play it at some point, if not immediately.
Toominator 916 Posted August 11, 2015 I thought Origins was really good, but I played the Wii U version which was apparently the best way to play it. It also features my favorite DC villain, so I may have a bit of a bias, but I thought it was great. I say go for it.
Dave 5,715 Posted August 11, 2015 Origins had a whole lot of bugs when it first launched, the most notable being a glitch that literally prevented you from beating the game. Most of these have been patched, but that's one of the main reasons why reviews were kind of hard on it. As for the game itself, it's fine. The problem, if you want to call it a problem, is that it doesn't really do anything different from Arkham City. It's still fine and fun, but doesn't really give you that much of a new experience. Also, the story's a bit of a disappointment in some aspects, but it's still far from being bad.
Kaweebo 3,617 Posted August 11, 2015 Like Dave said, the gameplay is pretty much exactly the same. (one feature actually kind of contradicts City, but whatever) However, the story is pretty good. I'd check it out for the story.
HeyMouseSayCheese 1,133 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) Barring some horribly aggravating boss sequences ("fight" doesn't seem like the right word for most of them ) Origins basically copy/pasted gameplay from the previous two Arkham games, only implemented much more poorly. Also I'm shocked people like the story, it's just another rehashing of Batman's early days only the plot keeps forgetting what it wants to do. Characters are introduced, forgotten about for hours, then reintroduced to immediately have their "story" "resolved". It's boring and uninteresting, and they don't portray any of the plethora of awesome Batman villain well at all. Also worth noting I never encountered any game-breaking bugs on the PC version, though enemies sometimes became frozen mid-death after beating them. Nothing technically wrong with the game that I noticed, though. Go ahead and give Origins a shot if you want, but definitely keep your expectations low- I went in expecting a good game and came away about as disappointed in a game as I've ever been.
